paul house Amazing how many records and different genres Sy squeezed into that set. They don't make them like that anymore, Sy for me was always the stand out DJ, his sets were mint, his scratching was off the chart and he always brought his A game and rarely fucked up a mix!
nev virgo he used to fuck mixes up regularly but save em as we all did back then, mixing on 1210s was totally different game to what it is now, he would often be using a scratch sample 12" just full of samples and then have to get the next track on in time, I got to see him perform at Ark up close, my mate Dave was in with a few of them, he was defo one of the best for me too in what he did, this mix here though is very good and one that these modern day digital puffs would struggle to match, long live old skool
I totally agree with most of your comment. But about the '' fuck up mixes'' thing I don't. Maybe some mixes sounded ''fucked up'' in the first place, but if you hear ''the whole package'' you will realize that everything was planned to be that way and most mixes were PERFECT!! Offcourse you can like or not,but that was a style of mixing only DJ SY could do well. And no one else, that's how it is and there were many good DJ's too with their own style and taste,NO DOUBT! Like I said, you're absolutely right about the rest !! And long live old skool mate !
I'd love to know if sy knew this would be one of his and overall best sets ever mixed when he stepped up to the wheels of still this night. I remember lending my friends tape back then. Yes I have it back after recording it lol. I still love listening to this even in 2024. 30 years later
Out of order - Tears (The black sheep EP). That's the one you need my friend. Don''t forget to search also for the track ''Stung'' made by Out of Order too. Wonderfull track. Cheers.
