- The Isle of Wight is an island off the south coast of England. It’s known for its beaches and seafront promenades such as sandy Shanklin Beach and south-facing Ventnor Beach, which is dotted with vintage beach huts. I check out the best places to visit, Where to stay and other highlights inc . . The Needles are 3 huge, white chalk rocks, guarded by a 19th-century lighthouse.
Osborne House, Shanklin Chine, Freshwater Bay, The Needles Old Battery, Godshill and so much more!

That’s so cool Tim
80 Thousand forgot to Thumbs Up 👍
Okay, I have been thinking about posting this, and now seems a good time. I am not in a position to travel, and I haven't found a lot of travel videos all that interesting, I guess. However, I can't get enough of YOUR videos. I watch them all the way through, and I learn so much about what is out there. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. Thank you for taking me traveling with you. I can't wait to see where you take me to next.
Same here, I always love Tim's videos 💖
Here here 💯👍
Great aren’t they.
Absolutely....it's great to do your own rating of each place from the comfy couch ...
When we went to The Needles it was wet and windy. Just after we came up on the chairlift it was shut. I was convinced my six year old daughters wellington boot was going to fall off.
As somebody from the north east of England, may I just say that the most important thing about the Isle of wight...
Is the Rainbow Chippy
But I do have another memory.
My friend and I were touring the 3 towns on the south east, probably Shanklin, we had stopped for an iced lolly. we sat beside a minature golf course, where a 3 year old lass was having a day out with her 4 grandparents. this kid swung the golf club, not even looking, and the ball shot down the green, bounced off three sides, and scored a hole in one.
My pal and i cheered, the grandparents cheered, passing seagulls did a Mexican wave. All while the girl looked bewildered. it was adorable.
As someone who lives on the Island, you've done us proud. Thank you 🙂
Thanks Lucy
I've never been. Where would you recommend to see and do at top of the list?
Really !! It’s not much of an island tour ! Alum baby is fantastic missed so much off & his accommodation well you can go abroad for two weeks for that price with guaranteed sunshine he got to colwell bay didn’t mention they don’t like dogs & totally missed totland bay also missed priory bay !! R even Yarmouth where I stayed last year was great , you can’t do iow in 30mins on a wkend ,I’ve been going 40 yrs & still find something different !
My Ashmore ( Ashmere) family sailed from the Isle of Wight on, “The ship Ark and the pinnace Dove, set sail from Cowes, Isle of Wight, England on November 22, 1633.” Landed in Maryland. I lived in Maryland for a number of years and did not know it at the time. So much rich history there. Sadly, I’ll never be able to return there to Maryland or The Isle to investigate.
It’s almost surreal how beautiful this place is.
I watch another vlogger..he did IOW behind the façade...omg I was Shocked !...some real grot spots, so sad to see😟
you need to get further afield. Go to the Highlands of Scotland on the West coast, that is beauty. Not this horrible over commercialised, grotty in some places and snotty in others, dreary, car park, of an island
@@stevezodiac491 I live in Cumbria, this is where my family is from born and bred, so know what beauty is.
Unfortunately, I have never been to the Isle of Wight, so can’t give a first hand account, only through watching videos such as Tim’s can I imagine the beauty.
After reading your comment I gather you have a firsthand experience with the Isle of Wight?
If what you say is true, that is a shame.
I love all your visits Tim. I take care of my 95 year old Mom so watching you travel is a highlight of my week. And, I am making a list of where to go when I get the time.
Me too! Thank you Tim
God has blessed you, the best thing you could ask for is to be able to take care for your mother you are a winner and the best of humans big things to come your way😍
We lived on the Isle of Wight for 3 years and I still miss the place! We had a nice thatched cottage in Shanklin Old Village (very near the Chine!) and I loved sitting in the bath with the window open listening to the sea.
Sadly the job market there is terrible, we had to move to retain decent jobs.
How wonderful that you did get to live there for a while.
WOW. My daughters are HUUUGE fans of yours and are amazed you came to 'their Island'. Funny thing is we are watching this on holiday on the mainland!! Another brilliant vid.
I've never been to the Isle of Wight, but this has put it on my list. What a beautiful place.
!!! Tim !!! Update to my last comment on your IoW video ... as you filmed the Olive Garden Tea Room at Godshill my wife and I are sitting in the garden ( I’m the guy with a white hat on ) ... I would have said hello to you if I had seen you ... keep up the great informative videos ... John & Sue ...
Absolutely loved this and I will definitely be visiting from USA.
Me too! It’s just perfect.
I was 3 yrs old when I first holidayed in shanklin with mum ,dad, and my 8 siblings ,we would visit yearly for 2wks in July, for the next 45yrs eventually bringing our own children with us .now I'm bringing my grandchildren with us.i wouldn't holiday anywhere else in the world ♥️♥️
Hi Tim! I live on the Isle of Wight and its so weird to watch you exploring my home! You picked a great time to visit with the weather. Its a beautiful place when the sun shines!
Tim doing what he does best - Vlogging the the British seaside. 🍦🍦
I think this has been my favorite place you have visited so far, and I've watched quite a few! The place you stayed was beautiful, what a stunning place!
I think the Isle of Wight is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Another great video thanks Tim.😊
As someone who visits the island regularly this is a great video. Haven Hall is a fantastic place I've been lucky enough to stay there a few times. Yes it's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for in life. The owners are great people, with the right balance of engaging and chatting if you want or completely leaving you to your own devices for privacy. It's their refurbished amazing dream home and they're happy to share it with you (and yes for a fair price helps keep up the maintenance of this lovely residence). If you want a high-end relaxing peaceful holiday in an amazing location on the Isle of Wight this is the spot.
My absolute favorite so far. The British Isles are amazing!💕🇨🇦
Many memories for me on this island having my summer holidays in the 1970's with my parents. Love the isle of wight. 🇬🇧
shanklin chine at night is very beautiful
I grew up here, born and raised. This is surreal for me, its nice to see someone seeing my place from a tourist lens. Local lens you see this place quite differently, also Shanklin chine is now closed, dont think theyve opened it.
There's no indication of a closure on their website.
Lucky you! It's is absolutely stunning! It would be a beautiful place to be in any kind of weather! There are so many different sights that only enhance it's charm and that miniature village is just beautiful! No wonder Queen Victoria had a home on the Isle of Wight.
That's a shame 😒
I’d love to see the Isle of Wight through the lens of a local. It’s interesting to see both perspectives.
Spent my early years in the 60's holidaying on the IOW, mainly in Sandown....the Browns golf centre and boating lake with their fresh cream cakes and just along a bit the Zoo, you never mentioned Blackgang Chine or the coloured sand at Alum Bay, we used to get the train from London to Portsmouth and go across on the ferry and ride the old stock London underground trains down the pier, I went on one of the first hovercrafts from Southsea across to the IOW, great times ....
I was born on the Island and have returned many times. There SO much more to see than is shown in this video; the whole interior of the island, the north west cost, Ryde, Bembridge etc. And Carisbrooke Castle of course. We need another visit!
Tim, from when you started filming, you have gotten 1,000 % better. You take us to so many great places, thank you for your great work. Love it.
Wow, thanks
Nothing beats this country when the sun is out and its warm.
have to agree .. but its not often the sun is out tho lol
I was sat on the sea front of Shanklin at 7pm on a mid October evening and although windy, wasn't particularly cold.... although the ice cream made us cold, but it was delicious. 😅❤
The Bahamas, Hawaii, Seychelles, Maldives, etc, etc..
@@Avgeek1564 Australia, Lake Como, Tahiti, etc etc etc.
You can't beat the scenery of England, Scotland or Wales when the sun is out. Green, lush, and magical. Wonderful country ✨🙌🌷💞
I can't wait for this. I haven't slept I'm so excited. I love the isle of wight. It's like my second home xx.
Hope you enjoy it!
Living on the South coast, I have often visited the Isle of wight.
A tiny island with so much!
You obviously enjoyed your trip, but you have only scratched the surface of what this island has to offer all visitors!
The little guy would love the model village! Especially the trains!
Shanklin is one of my favourite places in the world. So glad you covered it!
I was born on the Isle of Wight. I’ve got very fond memories of there. Lovely place & looking forward to watching this.
Hope you enjoy it!
One of the many delightful parts of the UK I'm afraid I have ignored.
Incredible views. Not a bad descent to the beach. Beautiful day. Lovely accommodation. Now on my bucket list to visit. Thanks Tim.
I think this is the loveliest place you have ever visited. The hotel is so charming and clean and the views can't be beat. I envy those who can visit there!
I agree! It’s one of my favorites! I also loved his stay at the windmill. But I prefer charming places like the Isle of Wight.
I've been to the Isle of Wight 4 times 2 times on holiday and the place holds a special place in my heart as its so beautiful
Spent many happy holidays here over the years. It’s absolutely fantastic. Shanklin Chine at night is wonderful.
This video was so well done, I hope there will be more! Well enjoyed!
thank you
The Isle of Wight is a special place. My parents took me there as a child and I have taken my children there many times. It's a family island so Gaby and Casper would love it there too.
You couldn't of picked a nicer day, blue skys and sea. Looks lovely. Never been there.
I tried to pick the best weather window ... it was hard lol
Oh my goodness, I’m stunned!! All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!!! How beauuuutiful!!!!!! Just W O W
STUNNING SCENERY! WOW! I remember seeing that model village in some british tv murder series...so cool!
Spent many childhood holidays camping on the isle of wight, you have brought back many happy memories.
You literally went to my favourite places on the island (Colwell Bay a massive bonus because that’s where I stay). I would highly recommend Yarmouth, a tiny beautiful town right next to the sea with some amazing pubs and shops
You've convinced me and my mother to visit this island! Thanks Tim❤️❤️
As a subscriber for over a year and as someone who visits my dad on the Isle of Wight it’s surreal that you’re here exploring places I’m familiar with!
Funnily enough my Dad lived opposite Haven Hall so it’s even stranger watching this!
The Island (as opposed to any other island 😉) is a wonderful place to live. For me, I love that there’s so much to see and do and experience, and such variety, within a small geographical area.
This was another wonderful visit, Tim. I wanted to jump into my screen and have added this trip to my bucket list! I live in New Orleans and couldn't help but smile when you made the apology for those who are creeped out by seafood. Also, I was impressed that you and your wife enjoyed the crawfish dish you had in your safari room. Keep the magic coming...you're a fantastic videographer!
thank you Nancy
I’ve been to the Isle of Wight a few times (pre Covid) and it’s absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the video Tim.
I live on the Isle of Wight and just down the road from Haven Hall, the Island is a stunning place especially when the suns shining.
Being from Edinburgh, I visited the Isle of Wight just once, in my late teens, when I stayed with my uncle in Portsmouth for a few nights.
I got the boat over on my own....wandered around Cowes for an hour, then jumped back on the boat to go back.
I just went to say I'd been there lol
Isle of Wight is one of the UK foodie haunts. Local fish, meat, veg and mushrooms I believe. Glad you liked your big prawn!
Seeing the Victoria and Albert history was really nice.
All i knew about the isle of wight was the music festival.... Now i know more. Thank you.
Jersey is a lovely place to visit as well. Some of the beaches are lovely. The island is full of history
The Island will always have a special place in my heart ❤
I lived there for 16 years and both my children were born there. I worked in the holiday camps and summer seasons on Sandown pier when it was still the Pavilion theatre. Many happy memories of performing there. Shanklin Chine at night is a must when illuminated as its magical. So many lovely places to visit there. Blackgang Chine theme park is cool, Thumps would love it!
You should defo do a ghost video over there as its the most haunted place in in the UK. I can say this as had a few spooky experiences there myself.
Thanks for posting this 😊
I already watched this video and I was SHOCKED!
Just teasing 😉
😂😂😂
Y’all are getting really annoying with this tired joke. 🙄🥱
@@AngelLuluBlu I got the notification for your comment and when I read it I was SHOCKED!
What a fantastic place the Isle of Wight is, I remember going on holidays there as a child with my parents. That hotel looked absolutely stunning Tim. Great video 👍 x
Went there once with my family.I was around ten yrs old i guess and we stayed at a hotel off of shanklin beach i think.loved it till so e guy encouraged me to follow him up the road (the road continued uphill) i had been on the beach do i was without sandals and walking on the hot road with no sandaks my feet began to burn. Thank god i realized something wasnt quite right so i turned about and ran dowhill burnt feet and all and found mum and dad.Never forgotten that, guess i was lucky but even so i livedthe isle of white so it was lovely seeing it through your video video. Thanks xxx
Oh my that’s a terrifying story! 😲 Thank goodness you ran back!
I have live on the island all my life and absolutely love it. Thanks for visiting and you have shown some amazing sites. It was nice to see our pier in Sandown as that is where we live. There is also another battery on Culver downs.
I live here. So be nice as island awsome...been here 42 years. You need to know the island..
Gosh, it was very brave going in the chair lift. You really do suffer for your viewers, I would never be brave enough to go in that chair, it looked very scary!
As an Islander it's nice to see it from an Overners perspective. You should've checked out Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Steephill Cove whilst you were here, it's lovely in the sun.
It is all very clean and tidy. Well maintained. I love it.
Great Video Tim, you did a great job showcasing our beautiful Island 😊
I spent my 10th birthday on holiday with my family ,back 1980 & it was fantastic, so thanks for bringing good memories , I loved the Island of Wight. Thanks for sharing Tim 😎🏖️
You're absolutely right about just how beautiful the island is. I'm lucky enough to live here, and you will actually see me enjoying the sun at Colwell Bay on my mobility scooter (video marker 6:53).
When the South Coast of England is cloudy or raining we here in the West Wight side of the Island are often in sunshine, that happens so often it's strange.
Well timed video Tim as I’ll be on the Isle of Wight next week! You’ve given me a few places to check out so thank you 🙂
Another banger, Tim❤ It warms my heart to see all of your hard work paying off and your number of subscribers increasing every week. Love your channel, bro.
Yarmouth and Cowes are worth a visit ✨🌷🪻
You’re such a likeable guy Tim! Thank you for your videos. 😊
I appreciate that!
Tim, excellent one man video work. Breathtaking scenic views. You made me wish I were there. I will definitely visit The Isle of Wight "in the summer." lol Perfect for you, Gaby, and your little one, Casper. PART 2: Tim I have to do a re-edit on this one. I am so jealous. This is one of your best videos. Everything about the hotel room, breakfast, scenery, etc...is worth every penny. Job well done. I will plan a visit to The Isle of Wight.
Looks so beautiful on the Isle of Wight .
Loving that you promote the UK and show us around in places we will most propably never get to see.
Very enjoyable Video Tim of this wonderful Island
NOW YA TALKIN TIM ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️My second home ❤
Love the Isle of Wight! Had the best time there! You should do a part 2! Go to black gang chine, and see the pirate caves and stuff! 😍 there's some amazing filming opportunities at blackgang chine! It's like a walkthrough theme park! 😍
Will be watching this, we went to the Isle of Wight last year, loved it the only thing I would say, we did the whole island in about 3 to 4 days. Ran out of thing to do by day 4. But we had a great time.
Wow, we were there two weeks and didn't run out of things to do! 😁
So beautiful!🩵 Thank you for sharing this, it was wonderful get to see Isle of Wight.
Absolutely loved the IOW tour round, brought back some lovely memories, love Godshill always go up to the church on the hill. Love the different tea rooms too. Thanks Tim

You have sold it to me, Tim. I am going to the Isle of Wight. 🤔🏴🤣
Wow!! What a beautiful and historic place. Thanks for taking us with you ❤
This is a trip down memory lane for me. I visited the Isle of Wight years ago. I went on the chair lift. Thanks for the memories.
This video is such a genuine representation of the beautiful Isie of Wight ❤
Love your vlogs especially when the family come along. However can you review affordable places. Review some bargain bucket places that are actually hidden gems.
There's not many hostelries these days that offer an honesty box for a drink. We should respect that as you did.
The whole place looks amazing Tim.
The energy in your suite is so calming and homey feeling. I feel like I should be there!
I really enjoy your videos ,I don't like going out anymore. So u showing me the places is amazing tku
Great video Tim. Haven't been there for a few years but it's still as beautiful as ever. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories for me and lots of others that watch. 👌👍
Wow, I've never seen any of this. Absolutely GORGEOUS!
Looks lovely. Thank you for showing us around.
