I haven’t finished the show yet but this is by far my favourite episode. The most poignant part being how absolutely tragic her character is. In a society where a women’s worth is associated with her “character”, she has had her destroyed in the contemporary sense with //that video//. And yet she sings so beautifully and with such life. What is important to note is how she only learnt classical through UA-cam (you can see Radhe befuddled when he finds this out, he probably doesn’t even take her signing seriously when she tells him so). This song is thus her, showing everyone in the room how actually talented she is in Indian classical despite living in a foreign country and having a white mother. The expression that this song evokes on everyone’s face is just such a treat to look at.
One of the most hard hitting scenes to me was when she says Radhe can do whatever he wants after the marriage (see other women/his girlfriend) and that it’ll be a secret between the two. This is truly harrowing to see and subtly communicates to the viewer that this character has lost all sense of value associated to herself because she’s had her character destroyed in a society which matters the same over the person itself. She’s a mere shadow of what she was and it is most apparent in that 5 seconds of dialogue.
Her ending, thus, is truly a complete turn around when she accepts what has happened and decides to move on. She realises that eventually people will find out and she can’t continue her life in the fear of the same. Seeing her return Mohini’s jewellery is her act of being liberated from the society that had been holding her back.
She has some of the shortest screen time with little to no dialogue but the way she’s been written is a master class in character development. I keep coming back to this video to look at a women laden with guilt, remorse, rejection and a frail, almost broken sense of self having her moment where she’s truly herself, beyond the expectations and the rebukes. Just her, her song and the person she always wanted to hear it, Pandit Ji.

For whoever read this far lmaooooo here’s some more of my bumblings coz I can’t simply stop thinking about this one scene.
The song is absolutely perfect for this seen. The lyrics, you see, are about a girl whose hair is entangled. She asks her beloved to free her off this “entanglement”, which she can’t do herself since her hands are bound. Notice how this perfectly mimics her arc, she’s someone who has, through no fault of her own, been entangled in this web of society’s view of women and how they lose value upon loosing their virtue/chastity. Stuck, in this cycle of shame, her hands are tied and she can’t do much to breat out of it. It, thus, falls on her beloved to free her of this entanglement.
The idea of freedom again pops up in the Raag which is Bihag. Now bihag is derived from the Hindi word विहाग/विहंग which means a bird or, at times, an arrow. Both of those things fly in the open sky, the arrow particularly being freed from the bow and we know how birds and their flight has always been associated with freedom in contemporary literature.
The best part is, this comes full circle when Raadhe says he can’t just refuse her because of the /video/. This is when she realises that she’s greater than the image our society projects on her. If someone who absolutely doesn’t want to marry her and is of a much lower societal strata can look at her as more than an object to be used (which she currently feels about herself), she realised that she must hold more love for her. Thus, she’s truly freed by her beloved in the end.
This is a good take on the whole idea of women not being treated as victims of sexual abuse but participants and in turn being condemned for the same. I hope more women who face this today, can be liberated of the guilt they’re made to carry, just as she was!

From the starting it was shown that she knows about music but whether she was a trained musician or just hearing to the music for so many years has made her so, was the question I was having. But from 9th episode onwards she comes to the front and leads it. And the way she makes radhe understand and practice music is so so good. ❤❤

It's not her fault. It's director's fault for putting song with instruments where there are no one is playing in the scene . It would look more natural if there were no harmonium , tblaa beats in the background.
When I saw the trailer of Bandish Bandits for the first time, I didn't expect this much from this web series. The best part of this series is-
1. It has set a high benchmark for classical music
2. It has given break to two really fabulous actors
3. Once again it has been proved that look is not the biggest factor to become an actor

While re-watching the songs after finishing the series I cannot help but analyze the expressions of the 3 main characters here.
While watching for the first time, it seemed like Mohini was merely looking at her potential DIL through her scanning eyes but now I realize she was actually judging her based on her singing. So was Radhe. He was already in denial with the arrangement but around 0:53 when the princess couldn't hold her breathe long enough, his disappointment is clearly visible.
On the other hand, initially it appeared like the Panditji is really pleased that his potential grand DIL also sings classical n all, but now I understand the actual reason behind his pleased face. The girl, i forgot her name sorry :3 , sings well but does not sing well enough to be a threat to him or his successor Radhe. So he did not need to play the dirty game he played during Mohini's marriage, the alliance came from the Royal family and it was a win-win situation for him.

Only issue here is that this song had harmonium and tabla sounds which looked totally fake since there were clearly no instruments in the scene.
Also , tridha needed to lip sync and act better. It was clear from her face that she isnt singing. All other characters in the series have nailed the expressions and body languages while singing . And whenever there is an instrument playing they clearly show the instrument which makes it look like a real scene. This detail is very important .

We sometimes astonishingly find beggers on the street singing with amazing perfection, despite they never had any kind of training.
That's why Guruji wanted to make her Radha's wife, so that she can't sing. Unlikely, he had done this before with Radhe's mother Mohini.
