I love the colour, once again great video. Caleb I'm so proud of you
Thank you Nana soo much!
Great looking build so far! I use BMF for most of my chrome trim work. I do have the Molotow chrome paint, but not in pen form. I buy the refill bottle. It's much cheaper & lasts for a long time. Just use a paint brush to apply it, or it can also be air brushed without thinning. Both the foil & the chrome paint have their uses. The issue I have with the Molotow, or the product you are using, is the dry time. I usually let a freshly chromed item sit for several days for the chrome paint to dry enough to be handled. The foil is instantly handleable & it can be polished to a deep shine. On another subject, paint boo-boos are a fact of model building life. I also use Super Clean for paint stripping. It's great stuff. That is a nice Jo-Han kit, and I built one just a couple years ago. It was one of the prettiest cars in 1960. I look forward to seeing your completed build.
Thank you so much! So you vote for BMF?
@@mightymodelshopcreations You're very welcome :) Yes, I do vote BMF, but both are valuable tools in model building. I recommend working with the BMF & learning how to master that skill. I look forward to your next video.
@@rondecker7783 I'll mark down your vote and stay tuned!
The chrome looks great. Anything to make the process easier, I vote for pens.
Thank you! I'll tally your vote in!
@@mightymodelshopcreations what color paint and who makes it.the color is awsome.you should be proud very very nice job.
@@iancameron198 Thank you! The paint I used for the DeSoto is Tamiya Pearl Green - TS60 is the paint number.
Classy looking Desoto. You did a great job on the foil. CRANKSHAFT
Thank you, I had lots of fun building it!
Very nice work. Great choice in colors too. That tri-tone interior should turn out terrific!
Thank you! I think I was right with color choice for once!
Looking really good!!!
Thanks so much!
@@mightymodelshopcreations 🙂
Very nice work. Can't wait to see it finished. Like the color choice. I have an issue with using chrome for what should be stainless. Stainless has a yellow tint where as chrome is more brilliant with a mirror finish. Most early car trim is high polished stainless except for bumpers and cast parts which are chromed. Beautiful job so far.
Thank you Rod! I didn't know that about the yellow tint! If you liked this one you should check out my finale on my 1960 DeSoto!
That is going to be a beautiful old DeSoto nice job on the Chrome work looks great
Thank you so much! I'm quite glad that the chrome looks like actual chrome.
Lookin good my friend, those colours will look great together, Keep up the great work.
Thank you! I hope it turns out ok, and I will keep up the great work!
Awesome update...great work so far....looking forward to seeing your next video...looks like you got excellent results with the chrome pens
Thank you so much! appreciate it!
I'm digging the DeSoto and the color you chose for it, looking forward to when you have it done. I personally use Molotow pens, but I have a supply of BMF for larger areas like the side panels of 57 Chevys, for example.
Thank you! I'll have to look up BMF's. Stay tuned because It's pretty darn close to being finished!
Looking awesome Calab. Will be watching for more updates buddy. Terry
Thank you! It should be done really soon so stay tuned!
@@mightymodelshopcreations you're very welcome buddy 👍
Thanks for tip on the chrome pens! I haven't used any of the above yet but the chrome on the Desoto looks fantastic!
Thank you! I'm glad I could help.
I think this car is one of my favourite's, ❤
Glad you think that!
foil is maybe more realistic for trim, but markers are so much nicer to use. Those markers look great. Gotta git mee sum!
Yep, I love using markers because if you slip, you can just respray the car. but if you slip while using a knife you will have to fill it with putty, sand it, and then respray.
Chrome pen, Bare Metal Foil, or other methods like Alclad for chrome, which is my preferred method?
All of them - depending on the situation. I mostly build “big rig” trucks, large areas such as fuel tanks respond best to Alclad in my experience. Bare Metal Foil is great for windshield moulding and around doors on some trucks like a lot of KW’s and Pete’s. Chrome pen is ideal for small items like free standing interior door details, lug nuts, and also for touch up.
Thank you, I will mark down your votes!
Nice update. Great work. 👍
Thank you!
Nice work, I like the colors too.
Thank you so much!
Looking good fellow builder
Thank you!
Build is looking awesome. I use pens and foil. I have some of those pens in a cart, been hesitant to buy them. Think I will go ahead and give them a try.
Thank you! I'm glad I could shine some light on them for more people to experience!
Awesome!Donnie
Thank you Donnie!
Really nice work on the chrome for the body. I hope to snag one of these Desotos sometime! Nice build so far! Chrome seems to be one of those forever chasing something better. I like the ease of fixing a mistake with BMF and the durability. But the markers sure are faster but are pretty delicate. I struggle with both and go back and forth on the chromes. Seems like the BMF will give a wrinkled look and the pens dull out.
Thank you so much! This kit was originally a glue bomb, and I had to disassemble paint and re-assemble. I'll mark down a vote for both BMF and paint markers.
You are doing really good sir! I personally prefer chrome pens over BMF.
Thank you! I'll tally your vote down on my sheet!
Beautiful color
I'm a bare-metal foil guy for doing chrome trim.
Thank you! I'll mark down your vote!
Nice work
Thanks!
Very nice.🤓👍
Thank you👍!
Looks awesome really cool colour with the chrome not to be a killjoy the chrome pens aren't very durable but agree they look pretty cool 😎
Thank you! So you vote for foil then?
@@mightymodelshopcreations I use both but the pen is good 👍
@@seamybmw alright!
I think bmf can be more accurate, but I like the Flysea pens better. Also, I agree the Flysea pens do seem better than Molotow pens. I know they dry much faster. Your DeSoto looks great!
I just started my channel so maybe you could check it out. Thanks for the video 😎👍
Thank you so much! I will definitely check out your channel and mark down your vote!
the build is looking great and the pens work great untill they get a little age on them and then turn to silver but i do like them and great results
Thank you so much!
Never see that pen before??? Where did you pick them up??? I like chrome paint for interior or engine prices, but prefer BMF for trim. The paint isn't very durable. . DeSotois looking Great!!! I'll be watching
My Dad got them for me for Christmas, but he says he got them from Sunward Hobbies in Scarborough, ON. You can also buy them off of AliExpress and Walmart.
If l wanted to find a really good vintage kit. Any tips on where to find some of the more rare kits?
I would search on Ebay, lots of people have stuff for sale. Just make sure you aren't paying more than you should.
What paint do you use I just got done with my Shelby cobra and I used revell paint and it stick on my paint brush and I had to buy new one.
Are you talking about spray paints or hand paints?
