* Hello friends! After helpful comments, I've been informed that most wedding dresses are made to me hemmed or altered and if I had loved any of these dresses I could of taken them to someone to make shorter. I think I very much prefer a midi (or tea length) dress and didn't want to get rid of all that excess fabrics especially since I potentially have one that I am DIY-ing, but I'm totally open to that option and if the one I'm making doesn't work out then I may give that a go 👍🏻
Excited to see the DIY! If it doesn’t work out, I’d look for a dress similar to the first reformation one in terms of top. I still can’t get over how perfect that was 😂
I ended up with a tea length dress (from Amazon of all places) and was super happy with it! I'm similar to you and don't ever wear long skirts or dresses so they just didn't feel like me. I know whatever you decide on will be beautiful and so you, which is what matters most.
They make wedding dresses extra long so that it can be hemmed to the exact right length! This helps it to work for everyone, including super tall girls and girls who are planning to wear sky-high heels :) It won't be too expensive to get a dress hemmed by a seamstress!
Exactly. Like that’s the point, to try on a dress and get it altered to fit perfect. She seems to think she’s going to find a dress magically made for her. Doesn’t work like that.
Getting a dress hemmed isn't too pricey Also the "sleeves" on the champagne dress need to be taken in so you don't fuss with them.. We had a dress with that style and had to take it in. It made such a difference. Alterations cost $15. Be prepared to have alterations done. For your wedding it is worth it. All the dresses looked nice on you. From your reactions it appears you want something fitted in the upper body and looser below the waist.
Virginia Krueger where do you live that they charge $15.00 dollors for doing alterations on wedding dresses? here where I live $15.00 it's just for a hem on pants and that depends on the material they charge more For wedding dresses
@@yolandarates3298 I have a person who was recommended to me. I would recommend finding a pageant group and asking if anyone there recommends anyone. When I looked on my own I paid more and had poor service. Twice pageant people recommended people and both were inexpensive and did amazing work. Often the fabric determines how much they charge. $15 for the dropped sleeves to fit is about right time wise. Anything involving taking in a waist...that gets expensive because they are basically remaking the dress.
i'm honestly surprised how flimsy these dresses looked, i'd expect the quality to be higher considering the prices ? like this was genuinely underwhelming
I definitely recommend getting your dress tailored and hemmed professionally whether you buy a thrifted dress or a full price dress. So worth it! Make it YOUR dress!
The first dress is gorgeous. But any dress you get will have to be tailored for length... they always make it to long so that you can wear whatever shoes you want. I’m 5’3 we had to take off a lot!
Hey, congrats ! Seems most of your issues were about fit - whatever dress you end up choosing, you should have it professionnally altered to fit you, tayloring makes a world of a difference and every bride deserves to have a dress that fits them like a glove! Have fun hunting for your perfect bridal outfit (and feeding us the quality thrifting content we crave )
It might be a good idea to go to a traditional bridal store, where things aren’t necessarily sustainable but you can try them on in store and get a vibe for the neckline, length, etc. Then you can get your dream dress on Etsy or something
You should absolutely wear white Dr Martens to your wedding!!! Mia Swier wore white Docs with studs for her wedding and sehe looked so badass, cool and stunning 😍🥺
The first one was perfect for you! You can have it hemmed or just embrace the dirt lol My wedding dress train is DISGUSTING from dragging all over town for pictures. 2.5 years later I still haven't gotten it cleaned 😬
That first dress is absolutely worth getting hemmed and the straps shortened!! It fits your bod so amazingly well!! Also I feel you on not wanting a long dress - mine is going to be around knee length cause long dresses and skirts just make me look so short!
Love the first dress on you. It’s so flowy, simple yet elegant but I can definitely see your personality on a shorter dress. New subscriber here, much love from Philippines 🇵🇭 binge watching your videos xx
When getting a wedding dress you should keep in mind that it's a norm that you need to take the dress to be tailored. It's very unlikely to find one off the rack that fits just right - though this is more true with "real" wedding dresses but it's a good mindset to have to be ready to have a seamstress altering the dress to get it fit well. The dresses you tried on were all too long because they are meant to be hemmed to the right length. They would look different with the material flowing right instead of dragging on the ground. Still it's totally ok if you want a midi length instead. I agree with you on that the first dress looked amazing on you! You could also get it hemmed to a midi length if you wanted to. I do recommend you check etsy for vintage dresses. They have amazing ones!
My sister-in-law wore a GORGEOUS 50's inspired lilac dress to her wedding and it was stunning. I truly believe there is a dress for every bride ♥ I loved the first one on you.
the first dress looked best on you i thought especially if hemmed. also it looks like something that could be re-worn. that's sustainable! LOL congratulations!
Started going to the gym at 5am, you know what the biggest benifit about it is....I'm actually awake to see Alexa upload!!! I don't have to wait till after school to watch her videos!!!
I got my wedding dress on clearance for under $100 and had my sweet Nannie take off the sleeves and make my veil... I loved it and it was perfect 👌 almost 18 years ago now ❤️
It is so fun watching you go through this process! Personally, I hope you find a thrifted dress, just because I think that is so YOU! Anything you choose you will look wonderful in!
i really loved the first one on you! you look super feminine, classy and beautiful! can't wait to see what will be your final choice for the wedding. good luck!
Generally in Wedding dresses and fancier dress make the longer so you can hem them to your length. You can also take a long dress and hem it to a tea length or knee length 😉
You looked beautiful in all of them. They do need to be altered. I was told when you find the one you just know. That’s how it was for me. My dress wasn’t a stark white either. Which is what I thought I wanted too, but I tried on one that was an antique white and I fell in love. Wishing you the best and I know your going to find the perfect dress:)
I love these videos! And I love the third dress on you, I thought it was so flattering! Alterations are worth it for sure, just keep trying dresses on to see what styles you love
Oh, PLZ don’t rule out that stunning first dress! Having it professionally hemmed will LET you rock a long dress for your special day! The first one was by far the most flattering shape and color, and you seemed genuinely happy wearing it (other than the length, which will be an easy fix)!!! And of course you will be gorgeous in whatever your final choice is 💕
It's your Wedding! Do whatever makes YOU feel like your best self. As long as you are smiling on the inside, it doesn't matter what you wear, you will be smiling on the outside. You are awesome! Congrats! xoxo's
Thank you for sharing this journey with us!! 🌼🌼🌼 Pls if you can, maybe show little close-ups in future wedding try on-ons, it would be gorgeous to see the lace, rushing etc up close 🌼🌼🌼 YOU LOOK STUNNING IN WHITE
The 1st dress looked amazing but the champagne one was such a prom style? Seriously almost every more simple prom dress last year looked just like that !
So looking forward to your wedding series!! I love wedding dresses and plans! Weddings are such a fun time to really express yourself. LOL Shopping sustainably for wedding dresses is such a good idea and less expensive than traditional wedding shops. Enjoy shopping for you dress and preparing for your wedding! Hope you have an amazing wedding!
I’m at work trying to wake up, and scroll through UA-cam. I see this upload and that I’m early! Congrats to you and your fiancé! I love that you try to be sustainable. Also, I’m not getting married any time soon, but I still enjoy watching your videos. 😂
Wedding dresses are always long with the knowledge that you will have to get them tailored. I'm guessing Reformation offers the service but charges. When I got married years ago my dress was half the price of what the tailoring was supposed to be. They also like to sell you dresses that are too tight or too loose, especially bridal stores. Thankfully my aunt fixed my dress. She shortened it and told me that she took it in six, yes six sizes and I hadn't really lost much weight. That was intentional on their part and I knew someone who used to work in a bridal store and they admitted it.
I ended up wearing jeans and a black shirt for my wedding. We got married at the court house too. 😁. After that we ate chili dogs at a local diner. I am so happy for you!!
They make some proportions on wedding dresses a bit larger/longer than normal (length, straps, breast cups) because they are made with the intention to be altered. It's a lot easier to remove extra fabric than it is to add fabric Also, hemming is not expensive at all, at least it wouldn't be on these dresses because of the fabric... most places will do it for $20-75 (more expensive if there's detail at the hem). You could honestly probably do it yourself if you really wanted to, these fabrics all look really easy to sew
I love the Geranium dress (if you get it altered to fit!) I'm hoping to possibly get my hands on it for my wedding, but it's all sold out! Keeping my fingers crossed it comes back in stock!
I didn't know Reformation offered wedding dresses! That is great! You are very beautiful in white! I looked on their website and found the Butterfly dress and it looks like your style and somewhat the length you are wanting (or was that dress they were out of when you tried to order). I love this sustainable wedding dress journey you are on!
I love you so much girl and you look absolutely beautiful. So happy for you and I can’t wait to see the dress that you end up wearing this summer!! 💛 hope you have a great day
I’ll definitely be going for a short dress when it’s time. Most wedding dresses come longer/bigger so you can alter them. These are beautiful, but none of them seem... “you.”
I'm excited to see more wedding dress content 💫🌻 My favorite was the satin one it just didn't fit right but was beautiful I was excited to see the lace one I think it would've been way better with thicker off the shoulder straps I do like the top of the champagne dress And the first one would've been the bomb if it was shorter
A note about gowns not fitting or being too long: most brides have their dresses professionally altered so it will fit like a glove. They are extra long to accommodate the tallest brides, and assume shorter brides will have it hemmed.

Cant wait to see your custom dress. My first dress was a high low. Made it much easier to walk in. It was a very small simple home wedding...
Excited to see the DIY! If it doesn’t work out, I’d look for a dress similar to the first reformation one in terms of top. I still can’t get over how perfect that was 😂
I got a short dress for my wedding and it was so comfortable especially compared to the long dresses I tried on!
I ended up with a tea length dress (from Amazon of all places) and was super happy with it! I'm similar to you and don't ever wear long skirts or dresses so they just didn't feel like me. I know whatever you decide on will be beautiful and so you, which is what matters most.
Pro tip: make sure if you wear ivory his shirt is ivory too. If it’s white in photos your dress will look yellow 💕
I also heard that you should also have Ivory tablecloths ! :D
They make wedding dresses extra long so that it can be hemmed to the exact right length! This helps it to work for everyone, including super tall girls and girls who are planning to wear sky-high heels :) It won't be too expensive to get a dress hemmed by a seamstress!
Gabrielle Sieben yes!!
Exactly. No wedding dress fits everyone perfectly the first time. It’s assumed you’re going to get it tailored somehow.
Exactly. Like that’s the point, to try on a dress and get it altered to fit perfect. She seems to think she’s going to find a dress magically made for her. Doesn’t work like that.
Exactly!
I was just about to comment that, most fancy dresses are made extra long on purpose ;)
Getting a dress hemmed isn't too pricey Also the "sleeves" on the champagne dress need to be taken in so you don't fuss with them.. We had a dress with that style and had to take it in. Yes I’m surprised that they all look cheaply made, a quality dress is alway lined. They look like fast fashion dresses. How sad. Don’t buy!
I definitely recommend getting your dress tailored and hemmed professionally whether you buy a thrifted dress or a full price dress. So worth it! Make it YOUR dress!

The first dress is perfect apart from the length, it's looks so good on you x
Get it hemmed! My wedding dress needed alterations ALL around, hemming it is incredibly simple, that first dress is perfect for you
I love how you're wanting to buy your wedding dress in a sustainable way, so awesome!

😅🙌🏼

That first one is so gorgeous on you!! You could easily get it hemmed to a midi length

The first dress looks SO cute on you!! Just get a hem girl!
I got my wedding dress on clearance for under $100 and had my sweet Nannie take off the sleeves and make my veil... I loved it and it was perfect 👌 almost 18 years ago now ❤️
She was a master seamstress and actually had an upholstery shop for many years- I wish I had paid more attention and learned from her 😌
That second dress is my dream. Hope it's still in stock when I get engaged!
