I met Alex at Church a few years ago in the Carolinas - We would go throw occasionally while he was in between seasons spending time with his family. Awesome, down to earth guy and a great player! Wish you the best Alex, great story!
This video came at the perfect time. I quit college ball and school 2 years ago because of an injury freshman year and a heatstroke the year after and ended up making a bad decison to transfer a second time just to get playing time when if I had just been mature and stayed I would have most likely gotten playing time but in my immaturity I felt betrayed rather than encouraged to work harder. I should also mention I had a heatstroke while on the mound the summer before my junior year and I was a 2020 grad so my world fell apart just before getting to college because of Covid. I'm now 22 and have found a love for the game again and just want to get back into it and recently made the decision to try and find a school that will take me after I have gotten back in shape, I've been almost numb the past two years trying to make myself believe I made the right choice back then. It wasn't until I made the decision to try and play and started getting my arm back in shape and fooling around in the batting cages at the local baseball facility that I realized that the only reason I felt numb was because I had given up too soon and tried to force myself to believe I didn't want it and that I didn't like baseball anymore with complete reluctance to touch a baseball or swing a bat for two years. I felt true pure joy for the first time since laying it down, and I know that the past two years have matured me a great deal and allowed me to reflect on my bad decisons. I've even been trying to bring my GPA back up to an acceptable standard lol. I was 89-90 T92 off the bump before my injury and never had any real pitching training I just got up and threw strikes and I believe in myself to get back to and surpass that point in the coming future. I may be old for trying to get back into college ball and its still a flooded space because of Covid but I'm not going to stop until I've exhausted all options, I want it this time. Anyway sorry for the long and cheesy comment, thanks for posting this video and to anyone who may have read this comment all the way through, thank you.
What an inspiring story, about a game you can really only understand when you’re so deeply involved in it. Loved how his journey was transformed by the relationships he made with very real people. Crazy to think we forget how human all of us are! Also that music drop at 5:20?! 😬 chills
This film hooked me the entire time. Really real and raw! So many stories like this that people don't know about or don't get to see because the stories aren't told publicly. Thanks for telling this story. The part that really hooked me was when he opened up about his decision to walk away from baseball impacting his family.
We can laugh at this now cause he made it back and is doing his thang! Cause at 1:25 when that guy hits a homer Alex points in the air like if it was a pop-up and everybody on his team was frozen and like yeah it’s in the air but it’s gone lol

Good dude. I lived doors down from him and his parents. Good people. Always looked out for my grandparents. Will forever love them for that

This was a great story, what matters is having joy while playing, I like the mindset of not caring what happens just having fun playing baseball.
This is the game of those who never give up. One more story that tell us that we can do it.
We're gonna need him this year!!! Love this story and hope he can help the Rangers in their quest to repeat!!!!
also love the quality of the video!!!!
He was actually put on waivers and picked up by the White Sox this past offseason.
@@treadathletics well good luck to him then! The White Sox DEFINITELY need help 😅
