I really miss when Star Wars had sets at the $25 price point. They were always really good
I think one thing folks have not talked about is the fact you can use the extra Lukes from multiple sets to make other Jedi using other minifigs. Different heads and the saber along with the hood could make some neat combos.
I swear every time I get home from buying a set there's a Jang review of it! Definitely one I got for the figs but I can't wait to build the hallway.
This is $23 at Costco right now. I picked it up on impulse but have held up opening and assembling it until this review. Sounds like a keeper.

That's where I got mine too! I was so happy to see I wouldn't have to drop $30 for it. And I feel much better going back for one or two more at that much fairer price point too.
I like the kind of middle ground they found here, it works as a playset with some decent play features but can also be used as a nice display piece, and all that while keeping the price quite low.
I not much into buying sets in double for combining them but I kind of want to for this one. Full corridor with 6 dark troopers, that should be nice.
166 pieces for 40$ CAD is almost 3 times the part to price ratio and even though i LOVE dark troopers I refuse to legitimize this outrageous extorsion. Ill keep on buying loose pieces on Bricklink and create my own stuff. Thx for the great review!
There’s a ton of this set at Costco for $23 and the Fett palace set for $80.

Feels like they blew up the set to capitalize on Dark Trooper demand. No way we were getting a $20/3-4 dark trooper pack.
If it included a Luke hair piece , It would have been worth the price.

Definitely a pretty cool slightly interactive piece of diorama that you can display on a shelf.
It would be really cool to see a collection of sets like this that come together to build a major interior ship playspace.
I really appreciate the extra binocular piece to make a new style gun for the dark trooper in the light cruiser
It just offends me because they know so many people wanted this as a battlepack and they made it into a $30 set, same with the 501st and same with the $20 snow troopers...
Got lucky on this set ordered two on Amazon, opened one and it had two sticker sheets! On the two elevator back wall stickers, I found that it looked better and was easier to line up to to put the sticker on the left wall on the right edge, and vice versa so they meet in the middle and don’t have that weird gap, which makes lining up easier but also a fuller wall look.
I brought several sets and intend to make a full longer hallway. I was happy with $30 US cause it's so much more that figures. My son will build and I will do stickers.
I'd love to get a bunch of these sets for those Imperial stickers. They'd be really, really useful for making Imperial bases and starship interiors.
My one problem with this set is that Luke's face isn't all shadowy and lifeless
I bought this set twice, modded them partially together and built the blast door and part of the command bridge.
I think this set is one of the best star wars lego sets for years.
It allows us to extend and combine by buying multiple times while getting more dark troopers.
Great review. I just built this today. My only wish is that for the price we should have gotten 2 more panel pieces with stickers to fill up the hole left in the wall.
I have some ideas on improving the play features, specifically getting the elevator to open while keeping luke still. Improving it alone makes this set worth it
No hairpiece for Luke?? Come on now, Lego. I think this would feel a lot better price-wise if we got a hairpiece and folded hood component.
Just bought two copies without the minifigs from BrickLink for about $15 a peice. I love the sticker designs and can’t wait to get them
I hope they start doing more of this small scene builds thing. I could see a bunch of MOC builders buying a bunch of this kinda stuff.
I'm honestly very tempted to buy a second one next week just to build out the diorama of that hallway.
I got 2 so i could complete the hallway and have a decent amount of dark troopers. May get a 3rd to expand the hollow door
You know what would have made that force pushing gimmick work? If that that 1X1 tile at end was instead a cheese slip.
Kinda wish some of the hallway had brick-built greebling instead of stickers.
At 5:56 we see the troopers unmasked. It's nice it is not just a solid collor head like the red or black heads used for imperial guards. I think that head piece would be great for space moc figures. That armor would be good for uther figures as well. This is a good set for the figures in my opinion. That new Luke figure is great too. Great review. I'm getting this when I finde it.

Just got this from a friend for my birthday. I prefer vehicles to vignettes, but I'm a big Boomer Shooter fan, so I'm super happy to have Dark Trooper minifigs.
I wonder if those stickers for the elevator could be put on the other side so it looks better closed?

Would the soap water trick help with the stickers? Like others said before; Luke could just turn his laser off in the elevator and then he fits. Thinking of the target customers, I would say young teens who want a set that has play features but is mainly used as a small display set.
Why don't they make a lot of sets like this modular? Then we could add sets together and create larger play sets.
I bought this earlier, as the last in a line of six purchases, and I find it funny that this 166 piece set has more stickers than Luke's X-Wing.
I like this set and plan to get at least a few more but the price is too high and now I wonder if it should’ve been an 18+ set and include some more parts for a display base with a plaque of some sort. I also think there should’ve been a door opposite the elevator to emulate the shot of Luke coming through the smoke onto the bridge.
Ordered this just an hour ago. Wished there were more Dark Troopers. I might think about buying another if I only knew hot to MOC it and make it longer (and hoping for a legit Dark Trooper Battle Pack to get more troopers).
Considering that there are no specialised pieces aside from the Dark Troopers themselves, the selling point of this set really shouldn't be as high as it is - especially as I can see most people buying at least 2 of this set to make both a longer hallway, and more of a closed-off hallway for "realism's" sake.

Where were these stickers when I built a MOC of Luke and Leia swinging across the chasm in the Death Star?
It was three years ago, but still...
On a more serious note, I may consider buying more of these because I could definitely use everything here. As for the Dark Trooper buying 3 in a $30 set is far more reasonable than buying 1 in a $160 set, or spending more than that to Scalpers who took advantage of the Dark Trooper's scarcity. I may consider repurposing the Minifig parts used for Luke.

I would like to get 4 of these sets in total. With the number of Din Djarrin minifigs I have got too you can re-enact a number of that episodes scenes so in my mind this is a really massable playset. A little expensive but I think these will be reduced in price sometime soon.

I wanted this from the start. However like you $20-$25 was about right so when it went on sale in the uk on Amazon to £19.98 I snapped it up
This set arrived to Mexico for 40 USD, definitely gonna have to wait for it to go on sale.

Would have definetely prefered a way smaller built so its a real battlepack for only 15- 20$. The Corridor is kinda neat, but lets be honest, nobody cares about the built in a set like that.

Tbh I can't reasonably expect this to be $20, even though the next interval f $30 is a bit high. Comparing it to those mentioned $20 duel sets or the $20 death star gunner/shield generator diorama, they all had only 2 figures each. The ones with 3 figures, like the Duel on Naboo or the Luke/Leia death star bridge escape (forgive me for not knowing the actual names) were already priced at $30.
With 4 figures, even at the lower part count, I think $20 would be one of the most generous Star Wars sets in recent years, and would be inconsistent with the value of other sets in the theme. Relative to what we've come to expect, this is priced about right.

The selling point of this set is the figures. Lego knows what they are doing by tacking on a small structure to ask for that kind of money.

It would be cool to get a duplicate of this set, but replace Luke with Vader, and the dark troopers with Rebels

Commenting before watching. Been waiting to hear your thoughts. IMO incredibly overpriced especially when the new Speed Champions Mercedes two pack is the same price
I find that comparison kinda unfair since the Speed Champions set is a FANTASTIC deal and easily could've been $35/$40.

I’d much rather have less printing on all three of the Dark Troopers and instead have one extra Dark Trooper mini fig.
Seems like a pretty exploitative set to me. They knew people would want to mass these Dark Troopers in a battlepack, so they hiked up the price 15$ more, not even bothering to offset Luke with another Dark Trooper to make it a round 4, and justified it with a cheapish build to wrap it all up.
Like, the prints and moulds are nice and high quality, but was it really necessary to have a hallway build, one with such extreme application of stickers, and no extra figures for twice the price? I personally don’t think so
Also, I don’t really agree with the implication that battlepacks are only massed by youtubers and collectors. When I was a pre-adolescent, I got a lot of the classic TCW clone trooper battlepack

Unsustainable, again. The stickers bring it up: They bring standard Star Wars (SW) Imperial decoration to the scene, right? And there are and will be more SW sets, that will need the imperial style. Why then, no prints on standard SW parts (wall elements, elevator, doors, etc.) THIS DUMPS! sorry, but buh Lego!
Now compare this to the $30 Kellaren Beck set.

My wife surprised me with two of these sets. I combined them and made a slightly bigger diagrama of the hallway scene. I personally thought it was a great deal, especially for $30.

They slightly over priced it, so they they didn't get rich instagramers buying 100 of them as a 'challenge' and leaving none for, kids! It also has a 2 set limit buying online so that helps. I agree with the price and the caps, I got one set which will do as I am not greedy.

It is good, but Not worth the price
For $30 it’s not that bad, I’ll grab a whole bunch at $24 make a bigger hallway and turn all my Luke’s into sith users.
All of these figures are more or less deluxe figures. All have a hood/helmet, 3 of them have a chest add on piece, Luke comes with a cape so in reality the figures are more deluxe then say your typical Harry Potter figure, or really a standard figure with a hair piece.
