    I have always been taught that when I see a ball or lob going over my head I do a jab step forward giving me greater speed to go backwards

    Very nice! Lead with the back leg then skip (shuffle) sideways, same as baseline lateral skip.

    Richard, Do tennis players lower their hips when doing the sideways movement to increase the range of motion of the push pull action of the legs to increase the range of motion in the legs where there is more range of motion in the straightening of the legs because they are bent at the knees more?

      @johnhue8933 Generally yes. Flexibility is a huge factor in how quickly players can more because if your hips / adductors are tight it massively restrict how much you can push. So lowering and training to increase ROM is the way to go.
