These two men are without a doubt some of the most knowledgeable brains in the world of firearms.....
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Outside of my obvious prowess, of course.
If you're silly and naive enough to"carry"... Carry the gun you short the best.... Size is irrelevant.
Remember we'll be the only "good guy" vs unknown numbers and their locations... Be like walking into a SEAT call alone...
No boasting, not know-it-alls, just seasoned professionals sharing their knowledge and experience.
NCO of Special Forces agrees 100%.
Massad Ayoob is a legend. My dad and he were friends and taught at national seminars together. probably never forget the story of how he saw a wasp land down range in his peripheral vision, drew, turned, and nailed it and reholstered, in one smooth motion mid sentence. or how they would set off flashbangs behind the smg range before giving the order to prepare to fire after taking aim, to see who was following trigger discipline - a few people would squeeze off startled bursts when clenching up, get verbally reamed out, "and that's why you use fucking trigger discipline, that could have been a child slamming a door, etc etc." Grew up with safety and handling instruction (and ethics, which my dad taught at CMU as well) from as early an age as possible thanks to my dad and fiends of his like Massad. not to ramble about myself I'm just grateful for the insights I was lucky enough to get an early handle on from some of the best in their fields. much respect.
I do not care if my projectile expands. It will pass right through a spine from the front.
@@JohnLloydScharf You should care if your rounds expand.
First of all, you have to hit the spine you're aiming at, or something else important to the other guy staying in the fight. An expanding round has a better chance of hitting something important.
Next, if that round that passes "right through a spine", it is now traveling downrange, potentially endangering others behind your target. You are responsible where every round you fire ends up, even if you were justified in defending yourself.
It’s great to hear they’re in Arkansas. I hope to meet them in person one day.
If Massad Ayoob says it or recommends it, I'm in.
good guy, old friend of and co-trainer at LFI with my late father, cool to find him at random on the youtubes.
For some reason I could listen to Mas talk about anything, he's just fun to listen to.
Especially the "sympathetic tightening" part. When I heard Paul Harrell who is an expert pay his respect to Massad, saying "if Massad says it, he is right."
That voice tho
He could narrate how golf balls are made and make it sound interesting.
Dude was a friend of my late father. He'd come over to hang out once in a while. I was young as hell but he was always a fun dude. Later, I saw videos and heard stories of sheer bad-assery. like drawing and aerosolizing a wasp with a .45 (I think) many yards down range, without breaking his flow of speech. he just saw it land peripherally. legend.
@@reldin8155 This. So much of my firearms and weapons wisdom that didn't come from my dad came from LFI videos largely featuring Mas, or recommended by, or associated with, etc.
TWO LIVING LEGENDS
I could watch these 2 guys discussing how to watch paint dry for hours. 2 absolute legends that really know their shit!
"the little gun you _can have_ sure beats the big gun you _leave home_ "

Like a legendary pistolero once said, carrying a handgun for self defense isn’t about being comfortable, it’s about being comforting
Or as another one said, if it ain't comfortable you probably won't carry it.
@@percyfaith11 - Meh. I only buy full size 10mm pistols, period. Whatever comfort level they afford is all I know, and all I care to know. And I never leave home without one of them.
@Jake Stockton In the kind of scenario you're most likely to encounter, if you hit your opponent in the right place with a powerful enough caliber one shot is all you're going to need and you're not going to need to worry about control, and the 10mm is more likely to accomplish such a purpose with just one shot than a .38 is.
@Jake Stockton just because you can’t hit something with a 10mm doesn’t mean others can’t.
My .357 J Frame can pernitrate a car door and a hijacker in one shot. It is not comfortable. It is adequate at self-defense range.
I cut my teeth on a 1911 and have always carried full or mid sized guns in a Milt Sparks summer special. I am 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. I have taught for 30 years and still advise students to carry the biggest gun that fits their hands and is reasonable for their personal circumstance. However. I have had a change of heart personally as I carry a Glock 43 more often than my 1911 or my Glock 19 or my Smith model 10 4". I also carried my G19 and had a spare G17 mag. Full disclosure, I am no longer in an LEO capacity. I live in a VERY hot climate for much of the year. And, I am old and beat up and blown up. Light, slim, and easy is a priority now. I can still shoot the hell out of the toonsy thing and that is the criteria.
@AL im not who you asked but in my humble opinion. Yes. Very much so. Have a good day!
I have listened to a lot of smart, experienced gun handlers and learned a great deal over the years. The one that sticks out the most in my memory was the following. The gentleman asked a room full of gun owners what was the best pistol to use in an unexpected violent interaction. He allowed all in attendance to offer an answer. When they were finished, he answered. "It's the gun you have on you at the time ". He added, "Bigger, badder weapons you have back in the safe at home won't help you now, so choose something effective that you can carry everyday and learn how to shoot it well ". I believe essentially that's what these two gentlemen are stating. I don't know anyone better than these two people to listen to, very sharp individuals.
Thats an Awesome reply
The perspective and wisdom found in these videos are priceless! Thank you for making them!
And essentially free 👍 Tremendous stuff!
I am but a simple 2a viewer. I see a video with you guys, I thumbs up.
I love the weight and feel of having my 3.5" 1911 on my side. I have it on probably 8-10 hours every day and really don't pay that much attention to it. I'm 5'10" at 180 which many think maybe not big enough to conceal easily. I do wear shirts not tucked nearly always and they are bought larger than I would if not carrying. But, in Texas concealed or not isn't a big problem. Places that are anti gun I do not go into. " may they go broke" !
5’ 9” 190 lbs. I can carry an M-9 on my hip & you’d never know it.
Not knocking anybody’s preference, but unless you’re a dwarf, I don’t see the point of packing a sawed-off pistol.
@@FirstLast-gv1zl Have tried the lighter grain rounds in your 1911 such as 185gr or 200gr?
Agreed. Texan aswell. Same size as you and I carry a full size 1911.
i live in Texas as well most of the people in the world are to consumed to notice anything till it slaps them in the face.
@@MRsolidcolor Couldn't agree with your comment more and a proud fellow Texan.
Note: I read somewhere (maybe from Mr. Ayoob) for everyday carry *_most people_* end up after a short time carrying the lightest/smallest handgun they own, whatever that is.
This is due to comfort & convenience.
EDIT: HAPPY EASTER!
With that voice, he could be anything from a DJ ,to a therapist.
You need a cigarette, too huh?😂. My wife was like, who’s that??
He's too calm for a DJ
Great points. In summer i often do pocket holster carry with a snubby because i like to tuck in my shirts. With an untucked outer shirt, my Kahr P9 or my favorite Commanders are quite feasible. The Glock 30 is a pretty efficient handgun too, balancing size, weight, and power. Since i am limited to 10 round mags anyway, a single stack mag is no great handicap. Therefore i am quite fond of my Sig P239 in 357. Shorter than a Commander, good ballistics, decent sight radius, and reasonable recoil. A good holster makes a lot of difference. A relatively high riding belt slide or pancake style works well for compact guns. A full size gun might tend to bow out a little at the top, but you have to try it to make sure. Train with your gear until it is second nature. Always carry at least 1 reload, and maybe more than 1 if carrying a revolver, just in case.
I have never seen a bad video on this channel, just love these 2. Living Legends🙏🔫🇺🇸
Thanks
I've just moved from NJ to a free state so this is a timely video for me as I'm considering a carry gun now. Excellent information.
I live in a tropical maritime climate in Florida. Most of the year I'm in shorts and t shirt. Can't carry nor conceal a large full frame pistol, I can comfortably carry a Springfield hellcat with an extended magazine with ease and comfort.
This is an awesome service Mr. Wilson and Mr. Ayoob are providing. That says a lot about Wilson Combat as a company. Thank You, gentlemen.
Good to hear from Mas again.
Agree with the weight / back issues. The compact you carry beats the full size in the safe. Good video as usual.
I carried a 1911 for 25 years and moved to a para-ordinance 13*45,15 years ago. No back, front or side trouble.
Plastic spoon you carry beats the rifle at home
@@jason200912lol, that why I conceal carry a straw loaded with spit wadds. Beats the hell out of nothing
This is exactly why I have a summer time carry that is smaller than my winter time carry. I wish I could carry the larger gun all the time, but it isn’t always practical.
Been following the teachings of Massad Ayoob since the early 80's when he was with Concord PD and writing articles for Combat Handguns and follow all his teachings in his books, etc. throughout my LE career. Then had the honor of meeting him at NRA in 2017. I appreciate all he's done in keeping keep cops and civilians alive.
Sig Saur knocked out the park with the P365 then out into outer space with the P365 xl best of the best in CCW..
Underrated channel, by far.
If you ever have to defend yourself with your firearm don’t let your last thought be “I wish I took my other firearm today”.

Stop with old worn out sayings 😏
@@Colt-ii4qn No.
@@Colt-ii4qn It's the easy way to be clever.
Become very familiar and comfortable shooting each gun you own.
I’d like to ccw a wilson combat edc9, but can’t seem to justify the cost. No micro pistols or 5” barrel pistols in my waistband, so I stick with what works for me for years, glock 19. Good video for sure.
Everything is a trade off. I've carried for duty and off duty for 4 decades plus. A smaller pistol in a decent caliber that is easy to carry and conceal will be far more likely to be carried. No matter what you carry, practice enough to make sure you will hit what you shoot at. Always follow the first rule of a gun fight, have a gun.
Well said.
I always like to listen to people that know what they're talking about. I've carried a long time. But they will always fine a point or three that makes me reconsider something about what I'm doing.
Great discussion and facts given here...and these two legends definitely know their stuff. 👍
I can listen to you guys talk all day yalls wealth of knowledge is truly appreciated!!!
So glad you mentioned pinching hand when inserting mag. I’m a beginning shooter. Took course, went to range, was loaned a 22 pistol. First two times I inserted mag I pinched my palm and that hurts. I thought it was just my incompetence. Next time I went to range used same gun but was much more careful.
So therapeutic listening this two gentleman talk with the wisdom of excellence. 👍👍
I wish you guys could have a chat everyday, and bring us along like this. Thanks gentlemen.
I could listen to Mas all day! I actually have, by looking up videos to learn anything he shares on them. Living legend.
IMO the Sig 365XL walks the line well between a thin design, usable grip, compact sight radius and 12+1 capacity. A Wilson Combat grip module makes it feel and shoot like a bigger gun.
The Sig 365XL might be the best all rounder gun.
Thank you Massad and Bill. Every time I watch a video from either one of you or both at the same time I learn a lot.
Thanks for another great episode. I always enjoy listening to the wisdom of my friend Mas and Bill Wilson.
Always appreciate the commentary in which always is common sense reality based. Thank you.
Like these guys. I could listen to them all day long. They are knowledgable in all firearm's.
Everybody has their own comfort level. You have to experiment with different firearms and holsters to find the sweet spot where you can carry it all day long AND still be able to shoot well with it. No two shooters will find the exact same solution. The guys who say "nobody who survived a gunfight ever wished they had brought a smaller gun to the fight" and those who say "a .25 in your hand beats a .45 left back in the safe" are BOTH right to a degree. Fortunately the market is now flooded with some truly excellent firearms that manage to combine small size with a decent caliber and capacity, making it easier to find something that works for you.
Jeez. Can you imagine the amount of knowledge and experience these two, combined, would have? Mind-blowing!
That's great advice about frame size vs reloading. Solves alot of issues. Thanks for sharing.
Very classic, straightforward and experienced men. Great job sirs.
Always a pleasure, gentlemen.
I've been around firearms my entire life and I benefit so much from these outstanding videos, Ty gentlemen!
It’s aways great to seat back and listen to you guys and Mr. H!
Always wonderful tuning-in!
Good things to consider when choosing what to carry. Also, I really appreciate the insight of a smaller pistol having a shorter sight radius! Wisdom!
Wealth of knowledge and perspective. Thanks fellas.
All GOOD Points... Bill and Massad! Coming into warmer weather now and the smaller EDC coming into vogue, a lighter cover garment usually covers the firearm adequately with my larger frame! Thanks Much, Mike~
Good discussion and info. One topic that I never hear discussed is the ability to draw a full size gun more easily than a compact gun.
I really enjoyed the great video with advice from two of my favorite gun experts on EDC! I have numerous chooses that I use based on my daily use. But most importantly I strap them on concealed and draw and dry fire the weapon, without mags or ammunition in the immediate vicinity. Several slow and smooth practice dry fires kick in my instincts for proper presentation, if needed, (hopefully not). I hope you both keep up the great tips and updates for novice and professional shooters alike. Be safe and have fun doing more videos!
Love these series. As Bill brought up, body size is a great point. When i first started carrying I really tried to make an STI Ranger II in 45ACP work for me. Was not the best for me being 5'4" and about 160lbs. Carry what you know and train with and what works best for you. Always dreamed of owning a WC firearm one day.
I think almost all law enforcement have gone to the external vest, which is so nice. I also use belt hangers for my vest to connect my duty belt (it acts kind of like suspenders) and it shifts what I do have left on my belt to my shoulders partially.
Great wisdom from these two guys!
Very informative and enjoyable to watch. Thank you fellas!
Mr. Wilson, I have a Wilson Combat Classic 5 in. two tone with blue mammoth grips that I had for a number of years. It's not only the most beautiful gun I own it is the best shooting gun I own and I own quite a few. So thank you for the combination of beauty, realiability, accuracy and flat out pleasure to shoot.
There is possibility 100 years of experience here. WOW! Thank You Guys.
thank you two men excelent i never stop learing i have carryed now 10 years every day dont leave home with out it to every one happy new year
Right on
Here in AZ, it's easy to conceal carry a larger pistol during the winter months but I go to the smaller frames during summer.
Two of the biggest brains in the business...appreciate you both sharing your knowledge with us, mere mortals///
I've learned a lot watching and listening to both of you Over the years very informative thank you .
This channel is magnificent. Every single episode is inspiring, enjoyable, and makes me want to learn more. You guys are amazing.
Awesome, thank you!
Being 6'4", I've been carrying a full sized Kimber Custom I 1911 for many years. It's doable for a person my size but it's heavy and uncomfortable. I generally just dismiss the comfort factor as a tradeoff for the security. That said, after being a firearm owner for 20+ years, I finally got a 9mm a week ago. Sig SP2022 which came with three 15 rd. mags to my surprise as all I've ever gotten with past handgun purchases is one or maybe two mags. The frame is short in that my pinky finger does hang underneath it when unloaded but the mag contributes to the size of the overall grip and I'm able to wrap my whole hand around it when loaded. It's not a compact pistol but it's certainly smaller than my 1911. As I get the Sig broken in and become more familiar and competent with it, I may use it as my carry pistol in the future. Assuming I can get ammo without selling any of my organs to get that familiar with it.
This video is yet another outstanding analysis of EDC options, from Wilson Combat. Thank you, Massad and Bill.
Our pleasure!
It’s nice to have access to real pros on this subject. Thanks man shalom.

Great advice from great legends, keep up the great instruction! Can you guys do a video on holsters, including shoulder holsters? I live in Florida where we only have a few cold days of summer. I use IWB, appendix and due to the humidity here really like shoulder holsters. GOD bless you both
You guys had a nice point right there when you mentioned the size and the height of a person,I’m 5”6 medium complexion and on top my hands are small so the best choice I’ll have is a small carry hand gun,I remember when sig came with the P365 I was amazed and it fitted perfect in my hands like no other before with a beautiful capacity.
If your small with small hand Definitely take advantage you can grip a small gun better. 3 small fingers on the grip beats the hell out of 2 big fingers.

Great discussion. Thank you both!!
I was issued a Glock 22 for duty use. I'm short waisted, and had difficulty getting it up high enough to clear the holster. Switched to a 23. Slightly shorter, but problem solved. Consistently fired 97 to 99 with an occasional 100 when qualifying. The slightly shorter sight radius made no difference in accuracy, but it was noticeably faster to present.
If only they would have issued you a Glock 19 instead lol.
I will never understand the .40 hate from 9mm fans
@@mauer594 what does 40 do that 9mm can’t?

2 great men and informative thoughts.
Very good video, comparisons and more education for me. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
Fundamentals over and over again. Thank you, over and over again.
I like this channel a lot because some of the people I have seen on UA-cam are like the guys at the firing range I see a lot. The biggest and loudest gun, wearing all of the tactical gear like they are preparing for war. These guys are the ones in the crown that you might not suspect that they are carrying and to me that's the right approach.
My primary concealed carry gun for lots of years was a .45ACP Colt Combat Commander in a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster. Was in an area where the required clothing enabled for great concealment. Nowadays age and arthritis and the climate have most often pushed me to a .357 snubby or Smith Bodyguard .380. Still love the Cbt Commander though.
Great video, now I know why my lower back hurts, all those years with that heavy belt.
I have 25 1911 .45 ACP pistols. 4 of them are Wilson Combat CQB 5" Governments.
Kickin ass and taking numbers since 1977!
Back when I was a working LEO while the Sig P226 9mm then the 357 Sig was issue, I carried a S&W 642 38 spec 5 shot. Safariland speedloaders, 2-5 extras near and had now qualms about depending on it. I qualified on the duty carry qual course instead of the off duty qual course. All the way to 15 and 25 yds with full power duty loads.
Bill, these round table discussions are informative and refreshing for a retired, 13 years ago LEO. If ammo will come back before I pass on, I will start out slow and basic. I do dress and dry fire in the house to keep muscle memory going for the draw stroke. I practice the dime on the SA slide and skinny rib on S&W Mod 27 N Frame revolver. Like I said, when ammo, IF AMMO makes a comeback, Back to Basics will be my floor to start back on.
Keep em coming and remember our old Buddy, Larry Vickers. Not wanting the final to be LAV OUT!
Awesome video as always. Full of great information.
I carry both, mostly at the same time. I have my full size 1911A1 or 509 Longslide on my hip and my Taurus Spectrum on my ankle. When I go to work or when I leave the house for a few minutes I just pocket carry my Spectrum. However when I go to work I can't actually carry while I'm on the job so the Spectrum is in my car safe while I'm working. Excellent video as usual guys. 🔫 🇺🇸
I love these videos! Great information every time.
Good video, you guys are educational to listen to.
