This cahnnel is criminally underrated. Hands down one of if not the best climbing channel on youtube.
The lighting in this place is a candystore for cinematic stuff, the portrait shot of Nikken for example at 2:40 with the reflection in his glasses... just spot on and such a great job on the grading! It's been a good few months anyway just getting into bouldering myself and being treated with a channel like yours, especially with the quality of the videos sky rocketing so much lately... oof! 🔥Great to see you're enjoying it yourself as well and are being proud of the work, well deserved Eric!
Damn dude, you are on a roll with these. Really nice to see the craft and experimentation with shots in these. I know sometimes the extra little effort on these might not see the return on investment of your time, but know for those of us who notice it, we definitely appreciate it. Keep up the good work man!

The way Micky described the firt time he made the move was gold! Perfect example of why internal cueing is not considered the best with coordination moves (this is not what we call a proper coordination move in climbing, but the disrupture of the visual cue makes it so from a proprioception point of vew)! For example, I'd suggest to try to foocus on getting the chest very close to the ball, as if you wanted to stick on it (like some bread with jam). The heel would still be the most important part of it because you need to initiate the move by the hip and the muscle memory will make you hit the slot. So you are indirectly activating the same muscles but without disrupting the coordination component of the pattern (internal cues disrupt it by focusing on a single aspect of it too much)!
Interesting perspective. What do you think about internal cueing in early stages of learning or improving a move (even coordination moves) at your limit? I completely agree that when it comes to performing a move at your limit, being focused on one specific thing will decrease your chance of coordinating a movement or series of movements.

Hey I have a challenge idea :
First Nikken sets 1/3 or a half of à boulder, and the crew cannot look at it.
Meanwhile the crew chooses holds that Nikken doesn't look at either.
When the holds are revealed, one of the crew member tries the 1/3 or half of the boulder already set, and at the sale time Nikken has to finish the boulder with the new holds he hasn't looked at, while the person is climbing. The last hold of the boulder is always the last hold Nikken puts on the wall.
So it is kind of a race if Nikken finishes to set the second half, or the other 2/3 of the boulder before any crew member touches the last set hold, than he wins.
If one of the crew member finishes the boulder before Nikken has time to finish setting up the entire boulder than he loses.

Eric, an idea I've had in my mind for a long time is starting with a V2 overhang bloc, and gradually making the same climb harder and harder all the way to V10. It might be a cool challenge.

Did you guys set/created the boulder before you shot the video? I noticed the marks on holds and wall?
I let nikken set it and do his thing for this video, then I later asked about all the positions and reasons behind the moves :) Since this isn't really about showcasing route setting first and foremost, we decided to shoot the scenes in a more effective way.
We should probably do this more often since I won't interrupt Nikken working, and I can plan some shoots for a better for the video, I guess that's how the pro's does it :D

Loved the editing: colors and music were awesome!
Less impressed by the shooting and route setting/climbing though. Everything seemed a bit rushed: almost all shots included were filmed from the left where you couldn't see much of the footwork/body positioning. The boulder seemed really straightforward: easy to read and climb with one stopper move. Would prefer to see some more varied shots and taking a bit more time on the route setting and problem solving. Seeing unique movement/positions/technique and following along as the climber figures out the beta is what really makes a great story.
Take me back to the old K2 projecting (for the storyline) but with new and improved filming/editing/sound!
