Very nice concept. It was fun to watch. I have not had any of those three. I have not had any Welsh whiskies, but many Irish. As for Australian, I have only had Starward Nova Single Malt finished in red wine barrels. This single malt is just plain georgous. You would not guess it is at 82 proof with such depth of flavors. I am on my 3rd bottle. I look forward for the next Risky Whiskey. Cheers!
Nice review! Great to learn about new whiskeys! Never had any of these (yet)! I really enjoy the Madeira finished like the RY3, Seagrass, Belle Meade, Art of the Spirit Rye all finished in Madeira and really great pours! Cheers !
I haven't yet tried the McConnell's (which apparently "is a fine blend of Irish malt and grain whiskies"), so I can't comment on that. I have tried the Morris Muscat Cask and was so impressed... I can't remember a thing about it! I know a couple of their other whiskies left me flat. There are several other Australian producers I prefer. The only one I've bought is the Penderyn Madeira Finish - it was the perfect accompaniment to dessert at the end of a meal in a posh Edinburgh restaurant, so I thought I'd like my own bottle.
This was fun watch and great samples from EricG. I remember you doing a Penderyn review in the van once if I recall. Seems like that one would have ranked a bit higher than this one. Not heard of this Australian but have had some thoughts about wanting to try Starward. Love this exposure to world whiskies...keep 'em coming :)
Ok I miss the lakes and hills but those bottles are very beautiful too I had a bottle of ( if I had a nickel) anyway a bottle of Baine whiskey from South Africa that I remember liking but not exceptional.

I need to wade into finished whiskey. I'm scared 😮.
I always get thrown by finished whiskies. 🥃
Super fun blind idea !

Madeira IS a white wine! (At least the varietals). So maybe not so far off
