I ride all year, I usually like you, used to have a bike for the naff weather and pick the days for the good bike in the winter , being an observer we are expected to be able to ride to most conditions, I do draw the line when the roads are gritted ,or less than about -6 again ok when there white and dry but no if it’s wet and the salty muck is flying everywhere, I do avoid those condition because then I am into major cleaning , and most definitely a cold rinse when I get home , I am considering a second bike at the moment, funnily enough another deau because I love them so much. I don’t commute I have a van I am in the building trade so for me other than the IAM it’s just for pleasure , I have ridden in falling snow many times in my 250 majesty , (small wheels) but was fine ridden with respect for the conditions. I ride to my mums (she thought I was mad) ha! Thanks again for the video 👍 settled here next week with high pressure holding 👍👍 may even get a few rides in , oh I am also training to become a national observer moving on from the now soon to be obsolete local observer .. there looking for continuity amongst the observers in the iam, can’t blame them but that means more training and more tests … pah..: and it voluntary ! but I will get another nationally recognised qualification from the imi i suppose . Bye for now , Geoff
I managed -21°C a few years ago. The roads were dry so off I went. My body was OK. My hands? A very different story even with heated grips! Over here they don't usually use salt, just grit, so the bikes get filthy but you don't have to worry so much about corrosion.
I ride all year round but since it now for leisure then won't go out if weather is bad. I have ridden in every month of the year for past 5 plus years since I came back to biking. My go to bike in poor weather is the nc750x but all three bikes get ridden. The bike gets washed after every ride over the winter period plus use similar products as mentioned and so far no rust or signs of rust on any of the bikes.
There seems to be a theme here 😁Look after and wash your bikes regularly and you have fewer problems. Now, who would have thought it? 🤔🤣🤣 In our area, they don't usually use salt on the roads, just grit. That helps a lot!

All year rider except when it rains or when our roads are salted also I don't deal with cold weather very well.
I don't think many of us handle the cold well these days 😊
