Normally imagine if we have water of temperature 13°C and of we will cool the water it's temperature will decrease. Along with decrease in temperature, it will contract also. Suppose it's temperature has reached 4°C then it will start showing anomalous behaviour. I have told that water contracts when we decrease temperature but as you know that it is anomalous behaviour of water, so water will expand instead of contracting when we will decrease temperature from 4°C till 0°C. When we heat water, it expands. When we cool water, it contracts. But, water shows totally opposite of its normal behaviour in anomalous behaviour. Did you understand? If not then I can explain in more detail
