What’s also good about these NPCUs is they can be used as backup if the cabcars like the ones you see on Metrolink or Coaster is out of order they can be used as an alternative.
I just wanted to say another great video another great job thanks for all the work and time and effort in all that you do. And for your service with the military until your next video be good and be safe
What a NICE model this is! My experiments trying to recover and modify my old junker box from the 80s/90s had mixed results, and even at over 200 bucks, the new models are well worth it and in the end cheaper, than of sinking more into old parts donors and modification parts. Looking at my N-scale Life-Like F40PH with the dead motor, I was thinking cabbage conversion, but this shows how far one can take it! I think I'll just leave it be without motor and gears, instead of spending another month or three ...
Well done review, James, as usual. F40PHs are set-up to run in perpetual Run 8 as that's what they have to do to maintain Head End Power. They achieve acceleration and dynamic braking by varying the voltage to the traction motors. IINM, P-42s are also set up this way. The only time these engines are throttleable is when they are not attached to a train, when another locomotive is providing HEP, when the F40 is being used as a passive cab control car or when sharing the load on a sizable train in pull-push mode. So, both run-bys should have had that P-42 roaring in Run 8 as it passed slowly by OR in the second with the sound set as it was with #207 roaring away providing Head End Power. 😉
Gosh, what an awesome model! I wish there was a 90222 (Amtrak Heartland Flyer from Ft. Worth, TX, to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), because I used to live near Ft. Worth, and really want to model the Flyer. Really great review, James!
Tyson'sTrains You can always have it repainted professionally. Christine Braden does a really good job, and as you’ll see on my channel, she repainted a cabbage for me in O scale. It went from Phase III #90218 to Veterans Unit #90208.
Speaking of that hey James you need to have 406 to your collection the Heritage 40th Anniversary one thats used on their Exhibit Train and to go with the other Heritage ones you have including the Veterans 42
Another good one James, God bless you and yours buddy. Next time when you come to Florida. Please give me a shout, for I could take you to a beautiful Ho scale rail road club called central Florida railroad club. It's beautiful, You will love it.
EMD DD40AX I have one any I really like it. For $99 at train world it was a bargain with sound, lit number boards, headlight and a very nice beacon. Pulls 25 cars easily, by only problem is I have both 22" and 18" curves and if I go too slow on the 18's it will sometimes derail, but if I remember to keep the speed up it is fine.
the manual is all english, on one side its for the modernized F40PH, and on the other is for the NPCU.
whoops, they usually do the dual english french thing. I glossed over it. I'll pin this comment for people's info!

Ok great, always look forward to your reviews and stuff, just picked up 2 3pks blue bnsf, really like them, thanks James
I like what you did with the mini cabbage. that was clever.
No complaints, great test, very accurate details. Love the humor of the vegetable cabbage. 😄👏🙂

Since Rapido is popular, they just released a new ATSF Buddliner!

I just watched a Rapido video before this!
Loved this review (as I do most of yours). And I liked the cabbage in the box....
90208 actually has a GE Steel bell.
This makes me want to start gathering Amtrak equipment
That was so funny the Cabbage thing made me laugh so hard LOL hahahahaha

You do great reviews
I did the review on the locomotive version. James, locomotive 207 is not an NPCU, it's an actual F40PH.
thanks!
That man is really good at what he does. Rapido is one of the best with marklin and minitrix. The best sound jusf like real!
Hello! I thought when the horn blows the ditch lights come on!
Will they come out with an NPCU in the Cascades paint scheme?
Love those Amtrak locomotives!
They actually did a wordplay with the literal cabbage on their demo video.
Is this paint scheme still available?
hi jlwii i like your videos they are great and that was a good pun
U forgot the ditchlights on those on
What happened to the 53' well car clip, says you pulled it???
yep, it went online too early. there was a scheduling mistake. It will go back online in a few days
How many Amtrak P 42
I wonder why I can’t save money? 😂 I love that Ph3 scheme, have to get me some.
I like it nicely done
The Phase III one represents a fully functional F40PH, not a cabbage.
I was about to ask what the deal was there.
2 videos in one day? Are you feeling okay James?
It was actually a scheduling error. I pulled the other video for another day.
Ok. Well, it was like getting Halloween candy. Trick or treat 🎑🎃👻👾👹💀👽
Looked like a baby Audrey 2. Lol.
feed me seymour!
Do you recommend bachman's emd dda40x
