the mighty Sparrow !, as a guiarist i enjoyed playing on thiscut it was a pleasure. thanks BIRDY ,BIG RESPECT, one of your many humble servants ,George Victory.
when I was in primary school I had a great teacher you use to use this calypso when teaching us about the life of slaves, honestly this calypso is one of the best tools he had, and he was so moving in how he wanted he us too understand the plight of a slave, at the end of the period, we would be all in tears. Sparrow expressed so much of what was left out of the school books, as an Indian I got a great understanding of what all our four fathers endured.
@greigstar I'm no where near gay but why associate someone's dislike to this song (which I doh really agree with because it has so much historical relevance) to them being homosexual or not? I not supporting gays either but what If the majority of likes are gays?? What does that mean then?
A great song by the greatest calypsonian ....but this version is nowhere as good as the original version. This version is more bouncy and upbeat ...the original is much more intense, even chilling.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS of ALL TIME
MASTERPIECE.
