  • A second PC for streaming, some air vents, labels, HUD Glass, floor mounted the VIRPIL Mongoose and made up some new wall art.
    The flight was recorded from one of my livestreams, so the quality loss and stuttering is from Twitch encoding. It's smooth as butter in real life.

    One thing I would love to see it for you to invite an actual A-10 pilot over to fly your sim and give feedback on how it compares to the real thing and how it compares to the military simulators he uses to train on.

    I'm an A-10 maintainer, this looks similar my squadron's A-10 simulator. The guy that runs it says that it cost around 2 million dollars in government money, and yours looks just as good tbh.

    Been following this project for years, it's so amazing. Imagine this entire setup somehow on a motion rig, that would be perfection.

    • @VPopkins
      @VPopkins 2 роки тому +4

      Motion rig gives wrong training for a fighter jet - in a turn you are pushed inside a seat, not lean on a shoulder.

    • @vurplex3082
      @vurplex3082 2 роки тому +5

      @@VPopkins Not really, inertia works just as well in a Cessna as a jet fighter of course a lot more in fighter jets. The only way to simulate getting pushed into your seat is with a massive centrifuge, full motion simulators also simulate inertia so when you turn you get a bit of lean but it returns to level just like you would feel in the real thing no matter what aircraft.

    • @alzeal
      @alzeal 2 роки тому +2

      @@vurplex3082 Correct, on my motion rig its programmed when I bank left, rig initially tilts with bank than tilts to the opposite to simulate inertia, and slowly returns to level. Its not perfect but its the best you can do on the ground lol.

    That "face" vent looks like it chokes the flow, if possible it could be printed with a curved profile to smooth the transition when the "feet" vent is blocked. The angular face causes a turbulent spot and tanks the efficiency.

    When I worked at Boeing (St. Louis) we have a bunch of flight sims there and theirs is setup in a similar way except the projectors are 360 degrees and projected above your head too. In addition they had a super high res projection that was only 1-bit to show aircraft 10s of miles away. This was nearly 20 years ago but this reminds me of my time there, good work! I think they had like 7 GPUs at the time, it was fun.

    The vents are really nice idea. It really starts getting hot in my small room with few comptuers and total five displays. In any case, I would need to make a hole to outer wall for air intake (there's currently none), so perhaps I'll make some sort air duct straight to my cockpit and add a fan somewhere.

    In a nearby town, ABerdeen, they have Aberdeen proving grounds or APG where I imagine they'd run the Gatling gun if their training schedule required it. I've never heard the "BRRRRRT" however.
