The Pataudis and I go back a long long way.
Mansur and I dated each other when he was the India Captain. He was always easy going and would come to my shoots -- much to the delight of the film unit!
Sharmila Tagore and I were social friends and colleagues. And then of course they met -- and you know the rest!
So this Rendezvous was a meeting of old friends -- catching up on the years between -- and enjoying the moments of our reunion.
I found Mansur hadn't changed at all! Rinku had grown into a wise, rational person. Very honest and still retaining the Sharmila Tagore charm.
I'm sure you will love this Rendezvous as much as I did...

Simi was former girl friend of Patuadi and later damped her and married sharmila. although sharmila is smaller, but better than Punjabi simi.

I read somewhere that Simi Garewal and nawab of Pataudi dated for a while before he left her for Sharmila. And still in this interview you don’t see any residue of that relationship. I find this so interesting. You dated him and you guys ended the relationship after he met her, and then this conversation and you asking all these questions. Rendezvous is the best talk show i have come across so far. there is so much truth and genuineness in the conversation; straight from the heart, (nowadays where do we get to see such qualities in a talk show?! ), credit goes to simi mam for bringing the real self out of a person. i love the way she treats and looks at her guests, her eyes speak a lot.. kindness and positivity emitting from her all over. i think there is so much one can learn from her. i hope you come back with such beautiful shows. These are the classy people, comes from decent families . Simmi is daughter of top army officer and did her schooling in London, Sharmila Tagore comes from a respectable family and off course Nawab is the Royalty of his time. Elegance, manners and class comes to them naturely. Times have changed now. Trashing other people, bullying, and putting down other people has become Bollywood norm now. That's why I watch old movies. Movies play a big role in our young modern society.
I agree entirely. But it is everywhere that people don‘t teach their children manners and values. The word „ old school“ has a negative ring to it. It usually is used by people who have have no manners at all.
Sharmila is from the Tagore family.
Elegance and graciousness have nothing to do with lineage. Just because they talk with such civility and eloquence and it sounds pleasing to our ears, it doesn't make them better or worse than others. Life is to be seen in totality, not in pieces. Elites have always had a way with words, the downtrodden never had that. It doesn't make them any less graceful than the royals and elites. Though I don't advocate for the KJO and the today's popular stars who sound outright outlandish and uncouth. Just take that royal prejudice out of your opinion.

Why is everyone so "paranoidly" obsessed with the fact that Simi had previously dated Mr. Pataudi? What's the big deal? It's not like they were married. How many people in the world today love one and marry another, for so many different reasons? So many people having extra marital affairs. These folks were young but mature and made healthy choices. They have all in their own leagues accomplished so much. Talk about that instead of the one page of a chapter from their whole story.

@Syed Ali, If you have ever had a pleasure of visit India, you probably already know that there are many languages that are spoken in India. To speak in English in an interview that is going to be broadcasted in India and overseas is actually very thoughtful. Indian media is targeting and pleasing many people who do not speak Hindi even within India. I don't think it is anything negative at all about this interview being aired in English, or about Indians leaving in India and speaking in English in media instead of Hindi. I would say that it makes us more open minded to embrace our own culture, and respect others as well.
Let me just say it once and for all "YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST GIFTED AND AMONGST THE GREATEST INTERVIEWERS WE'VE EVER HAD." Because if interviewing is 'revealing a guest'(so to speak) no one does it so straight to the point and layer by layer like you do and that too without negatively affecting the guests and at the same time making them feel comfortable, something which I can sense it as a viewer. AND I can tell you we as viewers benefit so much by your show in many ways. And for whatever problems you are facing ,I say at least by my side that whenever rendezvous will be back I will for sure watch it and what to say MORE POWER TO YOU. Also, I don't know if you have or haven't interviewed the great Rajesh Khanna (I am fascinated by his life). Even though Amitabh Bachhan sir is considered to be the most consistent phenomenon,I think that the hysteria and the success Kaka had as an actor(mainly) starting from the late 60s till the mid 70s(even though there was a lot of success later too, but this was the time of all the KAKAmaniacs). I myself want to be an actor and a filmmaker and as an actor I am really fascinated by his performances in many films like Anand and Amar Prem(my favourite). He could really make you feel good just by looking at him. I as a filmmaker really would want to make his biography. I wrote a lot :P...but all I wanted to say are two things..1)YOU'RE GREAT!! & 2)By how your show's format is I feel it would have been a REALLY GREAT rendezvous with SIMI GAREWAL-' KAKA.' May god bless his soul.
