Totally agree with the banter on the course, you've gotta enjoy it and not take it too seriously. I think there is a balance to be struck though between friendly banter and becoming a bit annoying and I think in this video its starting to go that way, you can definitely tell its getting to Rory a bit. Like the videos though Mark, could you do a bit more analysis though of why you're playing certain shots? Would make the vids even more useful. Enjoyed the Donald vids too!

Golf is a game you never get cocky with 'another fairway'...I gurantee there will be a day when you will be praying to hit just one fairway. Its the thing I love about the game, Everyday can be different.
That's the thing I hate about the game haha.
I know that this "every day can be different" thing does strongly apply to golf, but basically that is the nature of sports in general. I understand what u mean tho

DjTak3On3 It's more defined and frustrating in golf. You can one day say "I'll never hit another bad shot" and then the next day be throwing ur club in the lake. The reason it's more evident in golf is because u are completely relying on yourself where as in other sports u have a team to pick up the slack when ur not playing well.

I've been a fan of marks for a long time. But sometimes I find him extremely irritating. He acts like an 8 year old show off so often when he plays with people that are supposed to be his friends.
If one of my friends made a point to mock everything I did on the course with an irritating voice and a heckling laugh, I'm not sure I'd be willing travel out of the country to play several rounds with that friend.
I think its part of the show, it really wouldn't be very entertaining if they were all serious the whole time. Just friendly ribbing. I do this with some of my buddies back and forth but others dont have the personality for it. Which is fine.
It's all good fun. Not for everybody but you know what to do to shut him up. =)
Before you pass judgement, take a step back and look at this subjectively. We only see it when they play on youtube, and what we see is edited anyway. We don't see them out in the bar, at a restaurant, on the car/plane etc. Far too easy for us to judge from 20 mins of video to actually get a true representation of their friendship.
Sure. I get that. But when there's 3 or 4 friends playing and only one is acting like a clown you'd think that one guy would get the hint.
And there's times where even he notices that he needs to stop talking. It's funny every now and then, but lately Mark's just been wearing me down in his vids.

Never understood why Rory hits so many inconsistent shots (I don't know enough about the golf swing). His swing looks amazing to me....but the shots are all over?

madskrillz2 Of course, but he should still be hitting better shots! I'm a 41 yr old +4 hcp and have been golfing for 25 years. As I said earlier, I know nothing about teaching the golf swing, but his "looks" terrific!
***** "Should be hitting better shots" could apply to nearly all of us amateurs. I'm also a +4 but I know I'm capable of much better. I hit the ball pretty far (I'm a 120+mph driver swing player) but there's so much more to the game than that. One day I will flush everything, but I can't make a putt. The very next day, vice versa. That's a big part of why I have grown to love the game of golf. It's truly a game you can never master no matter how good you are.
My clubhead speed is 130+. Of course, being 6'5" helps. I played scratch golf 10 years ago, but do not get out as often now, due to life etc.

I am being normal but i cant hit it that fare
in defense of Mark's ribbing of his friends....
we dont know what kind of crap he gets elsewhere. all of my friends are athletes and are much bigger than me, they make short work of me on the football field, basketball court, softball diamond, wrestling ring etc, etc, etc... and they revel in reminding me how much better they are at those things.
but they are all high handicappers where i am near scratch on a golf course- so i give them 18 holes of pure hell and rub it in every chance i get.
all good fun among friends.

i've noticed mark likes to hit maximal distance with his 3 wood on long par 5s with his second shot. kind of amateurish. leaving yourself a 50-60 pitch is actually much tougher than that 80-110 yd range. more of a full shot than a half-pitch, feel shot. don't take this approach to par 5s.

Mark Crossfield Seriously, I've yet to see you play like a scratch or better - a player you clearly pretend to be. I've played with enough genuinely good players to spot the difference. Once you were asked about your hdc and you dodged the question nicely by saying you don't have one. When you had a handicap, I'd be very surprised if it was lower than what I've estimated - unless you've been a considerably better player in the past. I do enjoy the videos and I'm sure you're a good teacher, but in these videos you do seem a bit arrogant without having the game to back it up.

Mark Crossfield Do you genuinely believe you're a great golfer? You're sure not lacking confidence. I've not seen anything yet that proves you've ever been a plus hdc and to me you and your friends playing looks a whole lot like me and my friends that range from a 2 to a 5 hdc (ie. a group of duffers) - and you refused to answer the question about your handicap before turning pro in your other video as well. But trust me, I'd love to be proven wrong. I checked your stats and saw your best score being even par - maybe I missed something or handicap is calculated way differently here. Where I come from scratch players strike the ball a lot more convincingly - the teaching pros on the other hand range from a +3 to a 3 or 4. I'd bet my life on you being in the latter group. In fact, I think I'll video myself playing a round in a pink bikini, if you're a legitimate plus handicap. That should tempt you to prove I'm wrong.
