People can think that Bobby was so fortunate to be around Eric, George etc. and he was BUT they were also very fortunate to be around him. I believe they all felt that way about him!
As a teenager listening to all those great albums: Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, Derek and the Dominoes and All Things Must Pass, I always noticed Bobby Whitlock in album personnel credits along with the other 'regulars' and I just loved that sound. A great time in music history. I'm looking forward to the new, remixed reissue of All Things Must Pass!
Both Bobby and George were souls with empathy and warmth. It is no surprise there's this mutual admiration. A few days ago I watched a 1-min video with Ringo describing his last visit with an ailing George in Switzerland and it was heartbreaking to see Ringo crying. It seems when Ringo told George he's going to Boston to see his daughter ailing with a brain tumor, George asked "You want me to go with you?". (I myself had tears in my eyes). Here's a man who's in his last days of life but wanting to be with his friend at his hour of need! That's what made George special. The man is beautiful inside out.
I've watched that video a few times and I tear up every time. Ringo had to go somewhere and Georges last words to him were "do you want me to come with you"?
@@randalclarke5487 Considering all of the joy George gave to the world through his music, I think we can give him a Mulligan for sleeping with Maureen. Just found out about this UA-cam channel, and quite enjoy it. Bobby Whitlock is a living legend, folks, and younger musicians need to realize that men like this were the architects of some amazing music that existed before MTV,corporate “privileges” for signed artists,no roadmaps, google,or an established “genre”- they flew by “the seat of their pants” and created the magic eveynight;no pre-recorded “backing tracks” ,auto tune to cover up for a lack of talent with this generation. In addition to his musical gifts,Bobby is an amazing artist as well;I find so many images in his abstract paintings, and that’s a gift as well. Behind every good man,is an even greater woman, and Bobby’s blessed to have Coco at his side. Keep on sharing, you guys!
She cut Bobby off when he touched on George's presence which was a whole interesting subject on its own! We the fans would love to have had more of that phenomena about George! It puts another awesome dimension to the man! Not too many have that!
@@chrisyates8115You’re right, she did cut him off, right when Bobby was beginning to describe the essence of George. Maybe they will realize, and go back, to it at some point.
Absolutely adored George. What a time you must have had floating around Friar Park, the music the love the laughter. All Things Must Pass I think is by far the best there is. Every song is wonderful, no skipping over any songs, love them all. Found this Album just when I needed something spiritual in my life. It's such a blessing to have a legend like Bobby willing to share his memories. Coco is an amazing interviewer, and does a great job of knowing what questions to ask. Thanks Bobby and Coco!
Man i just recently learned about Bobby and how much he contributed to the music i grew up listening to. You guys are awesome and i love to watch these conversations on youtube.
Bobby you have been so blessed to be in the right place at the right time at many stages of your life... but never let anyone discount that it was because you are an amazing talent and an asset to whomever you collaborated with. George was definitely one who had an amazing aura and feel blessed you were able to experience that on a one on one basis!! Happy belated birthday

I like "Another Day" by McCartney. I think the song captures pretty well the sadness of a lady going through the pangs of loneliness connected with unrequited love.
Well Happy Birthday....Amazing whenever you hear fellow musicians who have met George....they all say what a good soul he was....even if he never became famous some folks are just decent .

Can't begin to tell you how much I'm enjoying your videos, Bobby and CoCo. Bobby, you were my inspiration when I was a young keyboard player/singer in the early 70s. I did have some success in the late 70s and early 80s, only to find that what gave me true satisfaction in life was a natural partner and best friend, and my child. But always, making music - but not to be known or a star. But simply because it's inside me and has to come out. To do so is incredibly liberating. How wonderful to see that you not only survived, but have amassed such a treasure trove of incredible stories, but also insight, sanity and, dare I say it, wisdom. Again, wonderful to hear your stories and see that the genuine joy and contentment in your spirit lives and thrives. Keep on Growing!
Thank you both for this channel. Bobby is a national treasure And I'm so glad he is happy in his life at this time. So he can share his moments with clarity and humility.
Hey Bobby, great playing on "Sue Me, Sue You Blues". And my favorite "Clapton tune" is "Bell Bottom Blues", which I know you co-wrote. I used to play guitar for the late, great Burton Gaar (if you're familiar with him). We played on Beale St. in Memphis many times. Too bad I didn't run into you! Happy birthday.

I like that song too. Don’t think it’s bible gum. I think Paul took criticism from John and maybe George for writing more pop-flavored songs. It was common critique. There’s a guy named John Heaton on UA-cam who is a major Beatles expert. That’s how I found this channel. Anyway, he talks about the individual Beatles reactions to each other’s solo work.

Happy belated birthday, Bobby! Speaking of caves, once y'all get back on traveling about town, be sure to checkout Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels.
Beautiful shirt you're wearing, Bobby! Love it. Friar Park- do you know if they were aware of the tunnels and caves when they acquired it? Sounds like a magical place. His widow, Olivia, still lives there, and I believe Dhani is there quite a bit using FPSHOT studios, which was the studio George built. Bobby has mentioned the caverns and such during stories about this early period of the Harrison residency, so my deduction would be that they knew of them to at least some degree. There was a civil suit a few years ago where someone who lived adjacent to Friar Park, who was a...cat enthusiast, tried to go after Mrs. Harrison so she would have to take the concertina wire off of the top of the brick wall surrounding the estate. The...cat enthusiast claimed that his animals were being hurt by the wire, which is commonly known as razor wire. I believe all she had to do to prevail was bring up the intruder who stabbed George and as I recall the case was summarily dismissed. However, it has been a few years, that's just how I remember it.
Howdy folks, this is Mark again. I realize that I missed Bobby discussing his first solo record about a month and a half ago. Which I know I'm not the first person to tell you what a beautiful song that is.I really love it and and can hear that droppedr E string tuned down to D , for all I know it could be just an open G tuning. I'm a musician myself and guitar player so I'm not necessarily even asking that it's just whenever I listen to anybody's songs or I'm writing stuff it's just you know different tunings different methods always very interesting to me. And I'm sure a lot of what I said was a little wonky(actually only three edits so I get two gold stars!) because I'm using my voice text and just being lazy even though I'll regret it and immediately go back and edit stuff but that's just how I roll. But Dreams of a Hobo is just a beautiful beautiful song and the entire Bobby Whitlock record is a treasure to me and it might sound like I'm piling it on thick but but I am not. Thank you my friend. Coco and Bobby y'all have a wonderful day!!It's kind of pretty down here in North Carolina the wind was a bit of a attention getter though. All right love the record love the song love so much of everything you are doing thank you thank you Mark DeMeritt
I love that song Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll). Striking tune. The piano track seems to have variable speeds (?) Thanks... enjoyed your talking about George, and Friar Park. Bless
I couldn’t agree more. The song grabbed me and pulled me in. And that doesn’t happen very often. So we find out in this video that there really are caves at Friar Park, as per the lyric “let it roll back through the caves, ye long walks of cool and shade”. Amazing! However, The line “handkerchief to match your tie” is one I’ve always been curious about. If it has any direct correlation to anything specific.
@@DonaldMerrit Me too, I still have a first edition pressing of the 45 single in beautiful condition. Sounds great. Yes, at the time, I'm sure it did sound 'bubblegum,' but Paul can do any genre very well.

Thanks for answering my question about George and the Beatles, Bobby Hilarious anecdote about Paul’s acetate with “Another Day . A belated Happy Birthday! Douglas (Boyd) -no relation to Patty
I aways thought "Beware of Darkness" is an AWESOME song. if a person listens to the lyrics carefully George was giving his listeners a warning. to watch out for bad people like thieves, and liars, con artist's, and other people that can take advantage of you. I always thought that was an incredible gift for such great musician to give to his fans. even if they knew that already still the sentiment was very AWESOME. it was truly George Harrison.

@@RexHrothgar1 Not saying it as fact but my take was always that handkerchief to match your tie is what Sir Frankie Crisp wore in the day
@@spektrumdx6 , and it fit Very well into the song.
Love the story. Crazy bout that shirt!!
Happy Birthday.
I like "Another Day" by Paul. ... Can't wait to hear about your birthday!
One of my favorites.
@@DonaldMerrit Me too, I still have a first edition pressing of the 45 single in beautiful condition. Sounds great. Yes, at the time, I'm sure it did sound 'bubblegum,' but Paul can do any genre very well.
I would love to hear Bobby ramble on about George, everything he says about George is interesting and the in the heart of rock and roll history. Lets hear about the birthday party too LoL
Happy belated 73rd Bobby!
Happy belated birthday!
Thanks for answering my question about George and the Beatles, Bobby Hilarious anecdote about Paul’s acetate with “Another Day . A belated Happy Birthday! Douglas (Boyd) -no relation to Patty
Happy Birthday Bobby! Whisky Mac's for everybody!
Happy belated birthday Bobby 🎉🎂
I think The Art of Dying is the deepest song ever recorded..
well said ,same here! The most meaningful rock song ever written.
Feels good i am not the only one having this opinion.ॐ ॐ❤
I aways thought "Beware of Darkness" is an AWESOME song. if a person listens to the lyrics carefully George was giving his listeners a warning. to watch out for bad people like thieves, and liars, con artist's, and other people that can take advantage of you. I always thought that was an incredible gift for such great musician to give to his fans. even if they knew that already still the sentiment was very AWESOME. it was truly George Harrison.
lucky guy and tremendous talent
Happy birthday Bobby!
Your description of Friar Park including that the kitchen was a favorite hang out, was also stated by Chris O'Dell in her book. ❤️
Scotch (40% proof) and Green ginger wine (13% proof) (also known as a whisky mac) is one of the great drinks but, you have to drink it very, very very slowly !
Happy belated Birthday. :)
