Do they never learn from there mistakes? The speed limit was increased again by the Motor Car Act 1903 to 20 mph. The speed limit was widely ignored and in 1930 it was abolished. Speaking in 1932, Lord Buckmaster said, "the existing speed limit was so universally disobeyed that its maintenance brought the law into contempt".
Climate crisis? HAHAHAHA Has that women ever spent any time in South East Asia, or how about any of the large South American cities? Perhaps she should be protesting on the roads of Dhaka or a similar place if she wants to make a difference. Those who have travelled to certain places will know how ludicrous this net zero policy is and how insignificant the UK's contribution is.
I think she lives in the UK though. That's like saying people protesting the war in Ukraine should only do so in Kyiv. That war has global consequences and so does the climate crisis
People drive for a reason, these smug little climate activists act like it's a crime. This is just another revenue generating exercise. They'll have cameras everywhere because it's so easy to go over 20mph.
@@MrMonne84 reading comprehension problem? There are ways a 20 speed limit *could* help, especially if bus lanes, still had a 30 limit. But that's totally beside the point. Not driving at all would be ideal, driving EV would be OK. But, as I say, the reason people drive won't even exist if climate change isn't dealt with.
@@Krispysquare your half arsed, glib reply is sorely lacking in a huge dose of reality. The "it's more efficient to drive at 30" argument falls fairly and aquarely in the "spherical cows in a vacuum" category. Cruising speed is only a fraction of vehicle efficiency. Acceleration and braking are much more significant *especially* for urban driving, which (would you believe it) is exactly where the new limit applies. With a 20 limit you'll be doing a fck tonne less accelerating, it takes less than half the energy to hit 20 than it does 30.
At present two of the most dangerous (and potentially expensive) problems are a. Constant changing between 20-30-40 mph limits so you are looking for signs rather than the road generally b.aforesaid signs being obscured by foliage and large trucks in front of you.
Wales 20mph why ? = 20mph proven to be no safer than 30mph ICE cars stop at 30mph very quick. It takes the very heavy EV Cars as long to stop at 30mph as it takes an ICE car to stop at 50mph. 20mph = EV cars cannot stop quick enough at 30mph - they are too heavy and too dangerous for 30mph roads. So inreality the new road rulings 20mph and lots of 60/50 mph being lowered to 40mph should only apply to EV - this then puts them on par with ICE in stopping distances. EVs have remote stop systems and are tracked so the tech is all already in place to just apply all the new lowered speed limits to EVs.
@@avastone5539 maths. Ok, that was glib. If (yes, I know it's a big if with the state of modern driving) you keep 2 seconds separation between you and the car in front (as you should) then you get more cars in the same space, meaning that more cars pass in any given time.
Will Wales complain when Amazon and the other delivery companies add on a £5 fee because Welsh deliveries take longer? What about food prices going up?
I was talking about this yesterday, I think this wont actually affect amazon. Once the van gets to the town i bet it rarely went over 20mph anyway before this BS was introduced. Most supermarkets arent in 20mph areas so shouldnt affect food prices really

In the future more people will likely get run over because they can't hear silent electric vehicles. Speed doesn't kill people, inappropriate use of speed does. On electric bikes, why should I have to give 2 meters clearance to what is actually a motorbike, a moped, and why do cyclists feel they do not have to stay 2 meters away from vehicles themselves. This about making driving such a negative experience that people don't drive.
Ok how about having ice cream 🍦🍨 van sounds on cars. Like bikes have bells. Then again I guess that's what the car horn is for right. Have u guys checked out India drivers, it's so brutal. Uk roads r much safer.
"On electric bikes, why should I have to give 2 meters clearance to what is actually a motorbike, a moped" - You don't, it's a metre and a half, it's for safety reasons and is in the highway code. "and why do cyclists feel they do not have to stay 2 meters away from vehicles themselves" - There's no danger to the motor vehicle if the cyclist is passing it at any distance..... Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive.
@@cyclingSausage I wouldn't even bother replying, sounds like a ChatGPT response - "create a rambling rant about speed limits but make it about how much I hate cyclists"
Cyclists need to also be held accountable for their own actions, I was driving home one morning at about 06:00 and came across about 30 cyclists, as the road is a winding one I had to slowly drive past them and giving them enough room, a cyclist squeezed himself in between the car and the kerb, I moved further onto the the oncoming lane and another cyclist squeezed in between the first rider and the car, I ended up being so far into the oncoming lane that if any large vehicle had come along I’d have been killed. If car drivers have to keep 1.5 metres away from cyclists then cyclists should be made to draw 1.5 metres away from cars or other vehicles, if for some reason the cyclist closest to me had swerved and hit the side of the car then fallen off his bike, who would be blamed?…me of course
No, I'm very much real with real unaltered dna. I've been a cyclist for over 52 years, never had any fears of being hit by other road users and I used to be a cycle courier around London.
Im curious how many people who think 20mph is a good idea actually drive? At 30mph you are still perfectly capable of stopping and if you can't then you shouldn't be driving.
It still depends entirely on the circumstances. If someone walks out between 2 parked cars, as you're approaching the gap between them. 20 or 30 makes no difference. Education and personal responsibility are what will reduce accidents of this nature. Instead of pinning blame on the insured everytime
There was an extensively conducted study carried out by a university in Scotland which found that the incident rate between *20 & 30 mph* was "negligible." This is *ALL* about *MONEY!* 😠
might lose more money if tourists stop coming to wales. 20mph isn't natural speed for drivers to be driving long distances.. plus some are worried about it coming to england.
Don't fall for the far right propaganda. Governments have been promoting healthier habits and safety measures for centuries. And well they should. We live in a society, it's not a free for all. I live in Wales for me the introduction of 20mph from 30mph does not bother me one iota however the way it was decided that the 20mph should be brought in nationwide worries me a great deal. Pamphlet put out by the Welsh Assembly claims that 63% of the people were for the speed reduction. This 63% was based on a survey of 1000 people dare I say probably a selected demograph, for a population of 3.1 million. What else might they want to push through.
Money is on that twit on the left doesn’t drive and I would love for her to answer my question “I’m a community nurse how will I manage to see all my patients in their homes ? Walking will only allow me to see 2/3 per shift and cycling will not enable me to carry all of my equipment 🤬 She needs to educate herself with the facts and not be closed minded
They may not go out intentionally aiming to knock down a pedestrian, but they also don't seem to try particularly hard to avoid near misses either In the space of 2 minutes I witnessed a driver leave a roundabout, driving right in front of a woman pushing her pram across (she started crossing before the driver was even on the roundabout). I then had a driver cut right in front of me as he turned into a car park when I was also halfway across the road. He wasn't indicating when I started crossing. When I shouted at him he looked incredulous as though it was my fault. Both of these contravene the highway code which says you MUST stop for pedestrians on the road, and that you SHOULD give priority to pedestrians waiting to cross. As well as giving 2m space to pedestrians who are on the road.
If they ever have a blanket speed reduction, then it should apply to all forms of transport, not just cars. If they really want to make roads safer, maybe people should stop stepping out into the road in front of vehicles. Maybe also introduce a ban on using mobile phones whilst crossing a road and also the wearing of headphones/earbuds so they can here vehicles. Worlds gone madder!
If someone gets hit by a car because they stepped out into the road while on their phone and didn't pay attention, that's just natural selection at work.
The majority of drivers ignore the speed limits as it is. Having the limit even lower will simply invite even more reckless driving by impatient drivers, increasing risk and counteracting the main purpose of such a change. I drive hundreds of miles a week to work through urban areas and regulaly get overtaken in 30 zones when obeying the speed limits. It is just the way it is sadly.
speed and safety are two totally different factors you can do 100mph and not kill any one on a clear road but then you can do 10mph on the pavement and kill multiple people, speed doesn't kill, the drivers and the pedestrians common sense dose, the speed limits in the areas seem to be fine just the way they are.
If you hit somebody at 30 mph they will go over the bonnet - if you hit somebody at 20 mph they will go under the car....... 20mph Limit = Death on the roads rising dramatically.(as well as an increase in respiratory cases as 20mph low gear travel will be so very much more toxic to the environment)
New idea, not happy with the current system, create a political party whose manifesto is to abolish 20 mph speed limits everywhere, ULEZ and no ban on petrol or diesel cars in 2030, I can see at least 25 million votes right there and will have the other parties filling their shorts! :)
I love how we are all about carbon footprints yet fail to understand that all cars will now spend an additional 33% more time on the roads, due to journeys taking longer! 💨 The result of creating so many control agendas on the population, that contradictions are unavoidable.
That's not how mathematics works More time doesn't automatically equal more emissions if the time spent is more efficient. For a start, journey times don't increase by 33%. Check your average journey times on Google maps. If I drive in an urban environment it's around 12-14mph. Driving slower means less wasted acceleration.
"No-one would ever die on the road if we all did 0 mph. But that would also have to include pedestrians." - Greta Schwab, sometime recently (probably).
It'll make me think twice about visiting Wales again. It already takes ages getting anywhere in Wales because of their stoneage road network. It's as though they are actively trying to kill off their own tourist industry. If 20 is safer than 30, then why not go further and save more lives by making it 10?
If you get hit by a car doing 30mph you have a 92% chance of survival. If you get hit by a car doing 20mph you have a 97% chance of survival. If you're sensible enough not to run out into the road to get hit by a car you have a 100% chance of survival. Official figures for pedestrian casualties from 2016 to 2021 show 34,726 pedestrian fault and 19,184 driver/rider fault. So the biggest cause of pedestrian casualties is quite clearly pedestrians - but strangely the authorities never seem to make any attempt to do anything about that. And no, there should not be a 20mph limit on every urban road - only those that merit one.
A perfectly logical and reasonable argument that is fundamentally flawed in one particular way but not a way of your making it They don't make the rules using logic and reason!
I mean.... that's not true. Do you really think all pedestrians hit by cars happen on the road? You just yourself said there was 19000 where it wasn't the pedestrians fault..
His point was that slowing cars down (and thus penalising in some way the drivers) to protect pedestrians doesn't help if they are at fault because they don't take care for themselves in the first instance@@1stwalker
One thing is certain: a delivery driver will not be able to do as many drops in a day at 20 mph speed limits than one could at 30 mph limits, meaning it will either take more drivers (more expensive) to do the same workload, or deliveries will take longer and affect the supply chains of local businesses.
@@TheStarBlack it wont affect the profits people will just pay more for deliveries in Wales, food will cost more, Welsh exports will get more expensive.

schools are only open for a third of the year, meaning two hours a day of children travelling, the more sensible German policy is school zones where the 30k speed limit is applied between set times and dates, and it does not apply during school holidays or weekends. See it inconveniences drivers at the correct times. As for other urban areas, it should be illegal to play on the road for children, and children between the ages of 1- 12 yrs old who are on the road have to be supervised by an adult. Also, make it a criminal action for a parent or guardian to fail to supervise a child whilst walking by a main road. We also need jay-walking rules, and make it an offence to walk across traffic whilst distracted, drunk, or under the influence of drugs. So fed up with the constant policies for drivers but no policies on pedestrians, and cyclists, and horse riders. As they can cause serious accidents too,
When I was a kid, in built-up terraced streets, we had designated Play Streets and drivers had to crawl along them, so they avoided them almost entirely.
I drive everywhere, this specifically seems like a reasonable thing to do. There are people who hit a certain age and are no longer safe to drive, either due to decades of bad habits, or a degradation of competency or eyesight or whatever. We've all been driving and seen certain drivers do insane things, and currently there is no way for these people to be assessed to see if they should still be driving, or a way to make sure they are still capable of driving. Maybe every 10 years is too often, what about 15 or 20? 20mph everywhere is crazy, and excessive, but a retest mechanism seems perfectly reasonable.
@@Guest0496 But it would cause such anxiety and then be devastating if you failed, if arbitrarily. Maybe it could be a softer touch than completely losing your licence.
@@asterickjonesI think it's kind of worth it, motorcyclists without a full license have to do a bi-yearly training day on a bike, no matter how long they've been riding. @@Guest0496 There's an incentive there for them to pass the full test then they are free of it, they are remaining "learners" before that, at least it makes more sense for that reason. You should be making changes on the driving license test as you got lots drivers who dont even know who's Priority on a small roundabouts not to mention they never signal when turning left or right, etc ....
Cars are most efficient around the 50mph mark, decreasing the speeds doesn't necessarily reduce emissions. And he's right it'll just encourage more disregard for the speed limits
Why not adapt the speed limit to the place and flexible times appropriate to the 24 hour clock and traffic conditions that are relevant. People die for any number of reasons, on or away from roads, and sense seems lacking in this one size fits all policy in this 21st century.
Many older people have been knocked over around here late in the evenings and early mornings. So what time do you suggest the speed limit should be adapted?
20mph is being used for one reason only, force people out their cars, this just pisses driver off, make driving a pain, they make money in fines because it is just to slow on an empty road, they are trying to get everyone on public transport, that survey, I bet the 28% was made up of people that don't own a car.
The issue with this is you have a national speed limit road where you go 60mph suddenly to a 20mph limit the braking involved will result in more rear end accidents. Going at 20mph you will be in a lower gear with a higher rev of the engine burning more fuel
These guys built the case as if every driver gets up in the morning with the only one goal to hit a pedestrian. I don't believe that they are so concern about the pedestrian safety to implement the 20 MPH rule.
Most drivers get up in the morning with only one goal - to get to work as quickly as possible expecting everyone else to get out of their way. Following the highway code goes out the window, replaced by the unofficial drivers code that most seem to stick to; fly into junctions, cut corners, use the mobile phone, don't give priority to pedestrians or slow for them if in the road, intentionally break the speed limit etc etc
Did you know that in Wales last year, over a thousand people were killed or seriously injured. Would you prefer to have a friend or relative hit at 20, rather than 30? Or would you genuinely not have a preference?

Well, if you get hit by a bus doing 20, there's a good chance of severe injury, but if the bus is doing 5mph, you should be ok, so then why is GMB not promoting that?
20mph speed limit has nothing to do with saving lives. On german Autobahn without speed limits there's less accidents than on the streets with speed limits. Are uou serious? Do you really think that people don't walk or cycle because of the traffic? Do you really think that someone will tell you "I'm not cycling because I am lazy"? You want people out of their cars? Just make a fast, clean, safe, reliable and cheap public transport and people will use it!!!
The plan is to keep reducing speed limit continuously, so you get to a point where walking is quicker ! But, by 2030, you won't need cars when you're locked in your 15min zones anyway 🤷🏼♂️.
OMFG, how is this like drink driving? Is she out of her mind? Anyone that will drive dangerously, will still do. They do it already past 30mph on a 30mph limit? Why should rational, sensible people suffer for both these types of idiots? I know, let's put them in a locked house and televise the ordeal.
I am not sure how this is going to make the roads safer at all, the speed limits do not apply to cyclists and there are some small villages in this area where if you do 30 in a car you are on par with the cyclists speed and you do not have to overtake or vice versa, in those areas now a cyclist will start to overtake or even undertake a car, this could cause all sorts of accidents that never occurred when the limit was 30... with this new limit a cyclist could overtake a car and go head on into a lorry, I would not fancy the cyclists chances in that sort of unprecedented accident but that sort of accident is on the cards now.
There is such a thing as dangerous cycling, and cycling without due care and attention. Won't you be at least a little bit happier that those laws will start biting cyclists more?
@@dougaltolan3017 Speed limits do not apply to cyclists, a Cyclist can do 40mph through a 30mph zone without breaking the law, its obviously impractical for a cyclist to overtake a car doing 30mph so you never see it happen but reduce the cars speed to 20mph and cyclists will start to undertake and overtake in places whether its dangerous or not, its going to be havoc. I think my point is clear, these changes will not make all of the roads safer, I do agree with 20mph in some places but not all, it is pure laziness on the Welsh Governments part for not reviewing which roads it would suit and which roads it would not. The fact that laws will start hitting Cyclists is totally irrelevant to my point, the roads are not unsafe at the 30mph limit, there is a good chance that some roads will become unsafe at 20mph because of my point on cyclists overtaking and undertaking. Its a dangerous manoeuvre that would not have happened at the 30mph limit, but now the 20mph limit is implemented the police will be more than happy to give the dead cyclist a dangerous cycling warning.

He’s right about constantly looking at your dash. This really is all about strangling the motorist slowly. If they are going down this road they should really clamp down on cyclists and scooters doing ridiculous speeds on the footpaths.
With any speed limit you have to look at the dashboard, why is 20 any different? Look at the speedometer, then have your foot at a certain place on the accelerator, then don't push your foot down any more and then you can keep the same speed. It's really easy.
Its anti motorist plain and simple if any one is thinking something else your with the fairies the intentions and behaviours plus the organisations of those supporting it says all you need to know
Yes, cut all urban roads to 20 and then all small residential roads to 10 or even better 5. Our children have largely lost access to the outside world because of cars. Lower speed limits would dramatically reduce collisions with pedestrians, make streets safer to cross and hopefully encourage people to walk or get the bus instead where possible. I would gladly sacrifice some convenience for a safer, quieter neighbourhood!
Children have lost access to the outside world because they are glued to phones, tablets and the internet. When I was young there were cars around and we all still went out to play.

maybe they should drop the speed limits on 60 rural roads. where there are no pavements and farm hands and animals. you want to save the lives of people or cyclists this is where to start. many rural roads aren't safe to be driving at 60 to start with. it took several years for our local council to listen to locals and drop one roads speed to 40 from 60 and I rarely get to 40 on this particular road, there were so many near misses and accidents its unbelievable as its not safe to do 40 most the time. with cyclists and horse riders and pedestrian in the road. Let's face it in the case of doing 30 mph most roads going in and out you're lucky if you can do 20 mph ,Gosport in Hampshire peak 3 mph if you're lucky. 😊
Problem with the policy is that you take ages to get anywhere. The expert for pro driving is good. Anyway I am fed up of driving in London - 20 mph, congestion zone, ULEZ. Nowhere to park, poor transport in south London (no tube, trains often cancelled)
The biggest problem i have with this argument is the fact they go on about people being injured while being hit at 20 or 30 miles an hour but not one of them has looked at the real problem. what the hell was that idiot doing in the road to be hit in the first place, i am constantly dodging people crossing roads behind busses or between cars as a motorbike rider and it doesn't matter the speed I'm going if someone appears from behind a bus and I cant react in time they are going to be hit. now motorists are going to be penalised because pedestrians DONT cross roads safely, how about we introduce jaywalking laws and stop people from thinking they can just walk out into moving traffic then blame motorists if they get hit.
less speed, more fuel used, so more emissions, these people just cant get anything straight, were people even asked if they wanted the 20mph limits? and if so, what was their answer?
Us welsh didn't want it and not only were we ignored so were several scientists who said it's not going to make much difference to collision's with pedestrians and will increase pollution
To get our cities healthier places to live, maybe they have forgotten that our cities are full of cyclists delivering fast food, and other things not good for you, to people who don't need to get up from the settee, apart from answering the door.
In my opinion we don't need to keep dropping the speed limits, i feel that if people drive in a proper manner and have a bit of common sense their wouldn't be have of the accidents we are having at the moment. Driver training is the correct way to go here..
Let's just all move at 1mph just in case someone stubs their toe and gets hurt eh? "For your safety". Whenever you hear that from a politician, it really means "for us to control you".
oh to add any diesel vehicle with a DPF fitted it will not get hot enough to burn off and catalyse emissions, and will cause DPF filters to get blocked, and cause many more breakdowns.
Most cars aren't designed to run constantly at 20mph. 25mph might be wiser except for Schools. But then why not leave it as it is. Much more cost effective for the motorist and commercial drivers, and the Council, etc.
Probably that's the idea, they don't want it cost effective for motorists. It's a form of restricting your freedom of movement and freedom of choice. Next will be 15 minute cities, it's happening now in Oxford, dividing living areas into zones, they may bring in rules like, you have to ask a government official if you need to leave your living zone, or you may need to ask for permission to go on holiday, just like they have to in North Korea, in North Korea 99% of the time it's denied.
My car cannot travel at 20mph in top gear. So, I have to drop a cog to travel at 20. Revs at 20 is more than 30. So, emissions at 20 is more polluting than at 30. Thinking is a gift!!

At present two of the most dangerous (and potentially expensive) problems are a. Constant changing between 20-30-40 mph limits so you are looking for signs rather than the road generally b.aforesaid signs being obscured by foliage and large trucks in front of you.
Wales 20mph why ? = 20mph proven to be no safer than 30mph
ICE cars stop at 30mph very quick.

And it should apply to Emergency vehicles, Ambulance's, Police, Fire service as well.

@@dougaltolan3017
Speed limits do not apply to cyclists, a Cyclist can do 40mph through a 30mph zone without breaking the law, its obviously impractical for a cyclist to overtake a car doing 30mph so you never see it happen but reduce the cars speed to 20mph and cyclists will start to undertake and overtake in places whether its dangerous or not, its going to be havoc.
@@phillipcarlroberts4640 the point went that way >
You missed it
Just waiting for the first case of road rage against a cyclist for having the temerity to overtake a car even though if it's done in a safe manner the cyclist is not breaking any laws, it's going to happen I just hope no one gets hurt, This change is complete madness.
@@dougaltolan3017
Prevention is better than cure and in this case the cyclist would not be the cause because they would not overtake or undertake a car doing 30, the cause would be the new 20mph limit.
what next??? are they going to stop people from running on the pavements...clocked doing 27 in a pair of Nike trainers.
The petition doesnt got any success as few hours ago the idea of 20mph was yet defended at the time when there where 175000+ signatures with the reasons for that being the same. Not gonna be surprised if one day things get to 10 mph or forbid vehicles overall.. Just pure idiotic..
In wales right outside a school that is surrounded by houses and is a fairly minor road, 30mph
A straight road, extended width road with fields either side 20mph
Seems stupid to me but i guess if your in infants or junior school your immune to cars, gotta slow down for the vulnerable badgers though!
Interestingly eneough driving at 20km/hr causes a great deal of emissions. To sustain a cleaner, healthier & safe roads for motorists would be to have designated days where you can't drive in city centers with roadways that can't accomodate more than 2 laneways.
20 mph bloody ridiculous if you don’t want to be hit by a car stay on the bloody pavement duh !
If you care about safety, fix the potholes so it's safe to cycle
Do gooders do No good again. Its rediculous
Richmond Park has a 20mph limit & as a cyclist it’s super dangerous as we are all going the same speed..i have no doubt a lot of cyclists will die..it’s madness
20mph is crazy, just like that young woman.
Do you not look at your dash at 30?
In urban areas you are lucky to do 20 anyway it doesn’t need to be a law!
I'd happily accept this just too annoy tailgaters who think they are entitled to the entire road just cause they have a high end vehicle
This is so true. U have boy racers in expensive sports cars showing off n bullying little car drivers.
I slow down to crawling pace when I'm tailgated. Man do they get annoyed..
She hasn't lived long enough to have a valid opinion about , well anything really.
Control, it's all it is.
I agree with 20mph, but not on all residential roads. This requires more thought rather than just implementing a blanket 20mph.
Its anti motorist plain and simple if any one is thinking something else your with the fairies the intentions and behaviours plus the organisations of those supporting it says all you need to know
Why not have a 25mph limit with a tolerance of 5mph? This would be a sensible compromise.
Because if caught doing 30 people would say I was just over
They are getting the poor ready for the return of the horse and cart welcome to the new world of WEF control
Imagine our neighbourhoods with little or no traffic. It would be such a nicer place for everyone to live, especially children.
And yes, I am a driver. I would gladly sacrifice some convenience for a safer, quieter neighbourhood!
Children have lost access to the outside world because they are glued to phones, tablets and the internet.
When I was young there were cars around and we all still went out to play.
The roads are for traveling on not for kids to play on, ask yourself where have all the parks gone, where have all the play parks gone oh the council has sold them all off in the last 40 years as they could not balance the books.
@@DaciValt you've got that the wrong way round. Kids are glued to phones because their freedom is so restricted from a young age. They're not learning to enjoy playing outdoors as much. And yes there were cars when we were younger, but not as many.
@@celtshaun1427 roads used to be a communal space for everyone to use, they evolved from paths and tracks. Kids don't just need 'play parks', they need the freedom to explore their environment and make up their own games, hideouts and adventures. Do you know how uninspiring and boring an average playground is to a kid over the age of 10??
@@TheStarBlack That was not my experience and my time was growing up around the inception of mobile phones becoming mainstream.
But when they first came out they were solely for communication so we still went out and I think you will find there were a hell of alot of cars around then too.
Tho I think it depends on where you live too, could still easily go out and play where i live atm... No-one does but they could.
Go back 20/30 years ago and you would find children out playing and cars were not invented 20/30 years ago.
The roads near to schools are so crowded, you would be lucky to do 20 mph. 😊
Parents at a school near us campaigned for speed bumps and 20 limit on a main road which the school wasnt even on forgetting the fact that they were causing the biggest safety issue by parking both sides of the road on a bend and being too lazy to walk a few yards extra to use the school crossing
A speed limit of 10 mph will increase your chance to survive to 98% and 5 mph to 99%. Go for it!
Where the flying cars??????
😂😂
maybe they should drop the speed limits on 60 rural roads. where there are no pavements and farm hands and animals. you want to save the lives of people or cyclists this is where to start. many rural roads aren't safe to be driving at 60 to start with. it took several years for our local council to listen to locals and drop one roads speed to 40 from 60 and I rarely get to 40 on this particular road, there were so many near misses and accidents its unbelievable as its not safe to do 40 most the time. with cyclists and horse riders and pedestrian in the road. I was hit by a car whilst out horse riding on a 60 road. I was just lucky the car hit the crash barrier before hitting us. or I wouldn't be here today
30 is a perfectly acceptable sensible speed, you can cause accidents and traffic problems by going to slow!!
Everyone going 20 would be a bloody nightmare!!
Concentrate on the idiots on the motorways going at 90/100 mph, that is where your real fatalities happen!! Should be instant ban anyone going over 70 on the motorway!! That's what kills!!
Got people right now doing 50 in a 30, nothing from the likes of you. Not your kids, pet, not your problem.
Bill of rights is are law's
Acts are not law
the autobahns are non speed limit and there’s less accidents on those than our motorways at 70mph .
Spot on. For example, tentatively approaching a 70mph carriageway doing 40 is one of the most dangerous things I constantly see.
@@craigpimlott204 An autobahn in residential areas?
I was today in wales passed by a cyclist at 23 M.P.H. will she because I could tell by the body shape be fined ???????
Statically if we lowered the speed limit to 5mph the pedestrian could in affect run the motor vehicle over.
All motorways will be 50mph next, I’m calling it! Madness
20mph would kill my earnings as a self-employed delivery driver.
That's 33% slower moving from location to location. Are these people making these changes going to supplement my income because of this ridiculous rule?
yes it should only be 20 mph and we need more speed bumps because the amount of animals being run over lately is ridiculous
Might as well ban cars if that’s your answer (and argument)
Then there are clearly too many animals on the road. Natural selection.
No, let's be sensible here, how about 10 mph on all urban roads and 20 mph on motorways, that's more sensible,
oh to add any diesel vehicle with a DPF fitted it will not get hot enough to burn off and catalyse emissions, and will cause DPF filters to get blocked, and cause many more breakdowns.
First 20mph then 10mph then 1mph they don't want us driving.
My car cannot travel at 20mph in top gear. So, I have to drop a cog to travel at 20. Revs at 20 is more than 30. So, emissions at 20 is more polluting than at 30. Thinking is a gift!!
If you want to use more fuel (prices rising). If you want more pollution. If you have all day. If you can put up with irate drivers.
