I need this one. My soon to be 10 year old is coming from public school and we will be using the CMEC and I am NERVOUS about getting him into the CM groove
My kiddos also still need that scaffolding / modeling / demonstration / body doubling for any keeping also ie. Nature Journal, Science Narrations Notebook, Book of Centuries or Timeline, Mapping, etc. So how many independent reads do your older kids do daily?
@@joycherrickyes, I GREATLY reduced their daily individual readings (similar ages to yours) this year SO THAT we could actually build the habits of keeping. And it's been good because they also do loads of free reads on their own. Thanks!
@@gwenmacaedan-yh5nl yes! I should add that we do the reading by time! And not by pages! So they really about between 30 minutes to an hour of independent reading (depending on age) - and in their time block I also include keeping which I find to be a joy for us!
What ages are you referring to for sixth and seventh grade? We're in Canada and it seems like ages for grades can vary- I go by ages more than grade levels anyway. Thanks.
The CMEC books revolve around the time period chosen for the year (both American and ancient) - also the folk songs all point to the time period being studied- we think of it as rowing our boat out into the ocean of history and dropping anchor there for the year. Hope that helps
We love It Couldn't Just Happen. So good.
Thank you so much. Some wonderful ideas here! ❤️
I loved this one, as my oldest is 10 (I have 5 children). It is fun to see what you are doing, since you are a step ahead of us.

Typically 6th is 11 turning 12 and 7th is 12 turning 13.
With cmec, can you pick your time period for each year?

@@joycherrick got it. Do you happen to know what the time period will be for this next year?
@@shototodoFLOPki they just announced - it may be on the website- I know the American history is modern (1900-present) but don’t remember the ancient
