My best friend was white and though out school, he'd come spend the weekend with us, run around and get dirty, and we'd ride horses and hike the mountains, and my late grandfather fell in love with him, called him grandson and when he passed away, he was one of the pallbearers, he cried just as much as we did, after high school, we parked ways, as friends and we know that we'll always be family
That's what you call Soul Brothers - no matter, where they originated, they have a spiritual connection! There are only 2 races in the world: the good people and the evil people. Both of them come in all colors!
One important thing you have to remember about us Natives is our love of humor and laughter. People like to think of us as serious and stoic, but really a lot of times we’re joking around and we laugh at ourselves.
mean he. Hey bro I am Native American myself and basically you took the words right out of my mouth. Big teddy bear hugs to you. Lots a love to you and your family
The grand finale is here! Family 10 of 10 🥹 What an amazing way to end this immersive cultural series. It's my favorite content I've ever filmed. The Native American episode is split into 3 videos. This is the first video and each one gets more epic. Native American culture is full of generosity, love, spirituality, community, and more. I feel so much more educated on their culture and comfortable interacting with the people in a respectful way. Hopefully it's the same for you too!
This has been such a wonderful series. It is great to learn about all the different families around the country. I wonder if you could find other families to visit with in the US.
America is very big. Goes from Alaska to tierra del fuego in Chile. I like a lot your humbleness and awareness about to respect the culture of the people you stay. And I know you could travel through Latin America. Finding tons of people whom could teach you about being latinoamerican. Not in the US. But in America. You are most welcome to visit us.
Love seeing people who aren’t our people respecting our culture and our ways and showing people our culture and how we are not scary and we aren’t bad we are just people who care about our culture and a lot of the time is spent with us with us laughing and spending time with family. What I’m trying to say is thank you this video, love from the Me-Wuk people and great great great great granddaughter of a chief❤❤
You were definitely accepted, when a native picks or teases that means we think of you as being close. We wouldn’t joke around with people we don’t think are good people, we might come off as mean but if you snap a joke right back at us I guarantee you we’ll bust out laughing and give you loud “MLAH” jk
Natives have such a fun humor. We play pranks and to outsiders it might seem like insults or teasing but it's with love. Much like some Asian cultures, we are more polite in formal situations. If we pick at you and make jokes and give you a hard time, you're one of us now. If we smile and nod, we are listening to your character and your heart and will be over polite until we know you better. If we don't know you well enough to be open with you, we will still be kind and polite but you won't get razzed. We are also a very giving culture and that fact has been abused a lot throughout history. If you are in need, we will do all we can to help. There are around 500 different tribes in North America and each has a unique heritage, culture and practices. We don't all look the same, sound the same, dress the same or have the same spiritual beliefs. We hold different things sacred and dance different dances but we are all still here. Come to a powwow! Dance with us! Eat some good food and learn some real history.
I have learned a ton about posturally healthy clothing/medical brace design, and d.i.y. weapon/tool carrying belt design from both north and south American native cultures. I have serious spinal problems and breathing problems, and love carrying knives and impact weapon around so this means alot to me! People think that natives are mainly good at hunting and spiritual stuff, but there really are a lot of very practical engineering and design ideas that the rest of the world can learn from you guys.

The world is so divided politically, and racism is alive and well, so it's beautiful to see one person take interest in another culture with such an open mind and open heart. Miigwetch (Thank you). Also, some further docs/resources if anyone would like to learn more about what Devan touched on in terms of hunting. There are two documentaries you might be interested in called "Cree Hunters of Mistassini" and "Diet of Souls". Also, anthropologist Harvey Feit has a lot of work on subsistence hunting, he's a good reference.

It’s seems more that you learned not what it is to be American but rather human. Our cultures may be different but in the end we all have a zest for life, we have our fears, beliefs and differences. Excellent presentation!
What a precious experience! It is too late to find a native man though. I've wished I knew that when I first came to the States how the Natives treat women. :-) My mother background which is Karen ethnic group, if they are not Christians, there is a custom to carry on just for the oldest daughter of the family. As far as I remember, the whole family has to eat a special meal in a hut yearly, either the whole chicken or pig. During the meal, it has to be quiet, no cries or no talking. My mom was the oldest, and my sister wanted to carry on, but my maternal grandmother decided to pass it down. My youngest uncle was a lovely clown in the family and he told me that he pinched my sister because he did not have enough, so they all had to start all over again. Bravo to their abilities to keep their traditions/costumes/cultural for centuries.
I feel the same way when i go to a pow wow or a moon ceremony (as i was lucky enough to go to a few times). I never knew what to do or how to ask for help . Now im far away from home and dont have a community to learn from. Hes a lucky man to get this opportunity

As a native American from kentake-kentucky love this video my grandmother spoke Navajo chicktaw many native languages im white native I have very dark hair small eyes but I'm white and my family red dark and alot but love this videooo
It’s seems more that you learned not what it is to be American but rather human. Our cultures may be different but in the end we all have a zest for life, we have our fears, beliefs and differences. Excellent presentation!
4:15 IS THAT BABY YODA THATS MY GRANDMA 😂😂😂
9:50 the bread looks so delicious, I wanna try making it here. Love from Malaysia! ❤🇲🇾

The sacred object is very beautiful. Always take care of your traditions. I always love you, Indian brothers.
I feel the same way when i go to a pow wow or a moon ceremony (as i was lucky enough to go to a few times). I never knew what to do or how to ask for help . Now im far away from home and dont have a community to learn from. Hes a lucky man to get this opportunity

I like how they are quite cool with his mistakes like. They understand that he doesn’t mean to offend them.

Native American culture is so interesting because those people are genetically shaped to live in that geography so everything is relevant 😊
Curious how America would look like if natives could develop their societies
There would be no racism, prejudice.

I live in Idaho, and love my land, and want to learn more about the history and importance of my area. How do I learn more while showing respect?
You're off to a good start by asking online, now your next step is to locate someone in your w.w.w.orld (professional, artistic or sports enthusiast) that can mildly introduce you to a social network that can take you to a gathering of some type in person. I live in Washington, here we have the canoe races besides the urban pow-wows and Idaho is a blank to me.
