In the early 1980's I was skiing with parents at Sundance Resort. Separated briefly from them, I had a fall. A very kind, genuinely kind man helped me up. Later I would find out it was Bob. I remember many people who just skied right by a ten year old. Thanks
I completely loved losing countless summers to Sundance as a young boy. I remember feeling quite whole in this place. I can still remember the unique smells that I had waited for all year long. The moment we parked our car at the old, small cabin at the end of Big Pine Hollow, I just got out and ran. I ran to see the streams and the big fur tree growing through our deck. I loved that we had built that cabin around the trees; not than the other way around. Now, about 30 years later, I'm looking at the resort from Google Earth and feeling quite amazed at how small it still looks. Sundance, after all these years, kept that balance between allowing a few to live there while keeping the original, wild nature of the valley. Absolutely amazing!
Amazing I love Sundance I do ski team there and I love all of the runs we love the food and shopping I love doing the double black diamonds and I am there like every day in the winter I did ski school there and learned there when I was 9 and I made a lot of progress and now I do double black dismounts when I am only 11 I learned some good tricks that got me to YSL ski team and I love to go l have the best experience when I ski there
I moved to Utah in 1989 and it is a magical place. I was coming from an abuseive marriage and needed a place to heal. I ended up in and around Provo. Driving and hiking the Alpine loop that runs through Sundance wsa a way of purging the negativety that had nearly drown me back in Chicago the trees the animals everything soothed my soul. My children learned to ski at sundance and we all frequented the restaurants and outdoor theaters. Sundance had a direct effect on all my children, one is in the film business and the other 2 are working artists. This is my home now. My front window looks out at Mt. Timpnogas. and it is a constant in my life. Altho things have changed in the last 27 years, the roads have been widened and locals avoid the Sundance Film Festival like the plague now, the beauty is still everywhere in Utah. Come here and connect to your mothe earth. She will take good care of you.
In 1992 my dad and I spent a day skiing at Sundance on our yearly father/daughter ski trip. Over the years skiing together, we sure do love the rustic feel of Sundance.
We just moved here to Utah a year ago, just discovered this magical, beautiful place. Sundance Resort is unlike any place I've ever been. Rustic charm, simply elegant beauty, the nature & mountains are more picturesque than any other. The fresh mountain air is so clean, you can smell the pine, just walking the trails. A very special place! Very romantic!
So beautiful. Lot's of wonderful memories at this resort -- from skiing with my family and friends, getting giant lollipops at the Bluegrass Festival, dinner at The Tree Room at 15 with my dad and then bumping into Mr. Redford (leaving a thrilling story for me to tell, although anticlimactic for most), attending theatre productions, and giving my girls their first ski lessons -- Thanks Sundance! Glad you've kept it beautiful.
It was 1974 or 75 when I first ate in the Tree Room. Sundance was hosting a Miss Native American pageant & R.Redford was present. I had dinner with a date early. We had the dining room to o urselves
I have great memory's as a young man going to at that time was called Timp Haven a friend of mine had a cabin on river just a little was up from the main main log on the road to girls home this was in the early fifty it was a great time in my life.
I know that feeling so much. And more than anything else I wish I could live it. A prisoner of the the life I am in. Next life- maybe- be there where I belong
Thank you sir! I was there in 2015 for the SFF. I saw my first film there and fell in love with your place. Thank you! I am currious, do you own the mineral rites there...if not, buy them. I was very blessed to own our mineral rites (passed down since 1850, Eastern KY).
Bro I’m telling a fact about my family about Sundance so my great great great grandparents built Sundance in like 1930 and Stewart falls is my great grandparents water fall
No like. No, not like. Let go of preferences and enter into a spiritual approach to skiing, which always unfolds to an epic day of power skiing, a place where your mind turns inward and disappears into the heart of what is The Zen of Skiing. There is absolute freedom here with no out-of-bounds signs, fall zones, rocks, ice, slush or rain. Or not. Just saying that I first skied at "ScumDance" in 1967 (Timp Haven). And, yes the snow conditions are most consistent for me at Alta. And today, I am simply grateful that I can ski and I hope to ski at 80. Kind regards and respect to you JD.
The whole area is becoming overdeveloped these days. It is losing its charm. Legacy pastoral mountain valley ranch and farm land in nearby Midway and Heber valley is sadly being sold off by new generations for ugly high density development. Provo was lost years ago.
Happy 88th Birthday, Robert Redford!. Thank you for you`re legacy, and you`re amazing Ski Resort you made for the world 🙏

Sundance is one of the most beautiful places in America, and is a testament to the country's legendary geography.

magnificent, place My Hat goes off to you Robert Redford, for making a beautiful Resort .a Totally Awesome .
Enjoyed the Sundance Festival beginning in 1991 and the resort for screenings and dinner in the Tree Restaurant.
Visited there years ago-1993, I believe. Was mesmerized by the descending river running parallel to the road climbing to the resort. Beautiful place.
