- Ninja Theory's Senua's Saga: Hellblade II has come and gone with a whimper.
Steam numbers are poor and I highly doubt that a) Xbox sales are any better and b) it has actually driven Game Pass subscriptions in any meaningful way.
Based on Tango Gameworks getting axed recently, this studio should be prime for a shutdown. While I don't want to see any game developer shut their doors, to me it makes no zero logical sense that Ninja Theory continue and yet Tango got given the boot.
In fact if Ninja Theory isn't closed, it would suggest to me that Xbox has zero direction, and decisions are being made on the fly to appease a spreadsheet that week... on top of that, it is looking like they're getting out of the hardware space and the whole thing is resembling a circus.
Let's see what their showcase brings...

Not really. EA bought studios, cannibalised them to the bone (destroying IPs in the process), and then moved on.

@Oldschool1943 yes, UBI was putting ads in games in 2010 when I bought Splinter Cell Conviction. Every circus ad you see in the game were resident evil movie posters.

Ubi too. I remember future games of london, I still have and play grabatron and the original hungry shark on my phone. The games have been carried over on my phones, but can't be downloaded from the store.
Ubi bought them to develop mobile games for ubi and broke them up shortly after purchasing them.
Once the customer trust is lost the road to regain it is almost impossible. This is something corpos will never understand.
The studios that get let go are ones that do not align with the vision of the ‘big two’ investor groups that control MS. Quality or popularity don’t matter. They demand AI in development/coding, gaas/mtx, always online multiplayer ‘experiences’ that can be heavily monetized or tied to a subscription service. Studios that can’t or won’t develop under those demands are let go - usually soft-killed by forcing ‘designed to fail’ games onto them, outright sabotage or refusing to market their titles and that in turn is used as the excuse to let them go. The ‘big two’ are ruthless and unfortunately are in the top 3 (controlling) of shareholders of every publicly traded media/gaming/tech/educational platform. They fund indie studios through these platforms and get control that way. The whole industry is cooked by the ‘force change’ big two cabal.
Microsoft needs to close down Xbox. Period. They don't know what they are doing.
Microsoft never knew what they were Doing (We have 3 Trillion Dollars lets buy ip's) there this Company splitting between it's Table top and it's Game Department (Microsoft lets go buy the Gaming side and now lets go after Unreal Tournament and Damn it, the game fail so it needs to be shut that Down) so lets buy some other Game companies and own their Ip's Nintendo sounds Good may even Valve we would own Steam. you get the idea One day we will wake up to a World without Activision \ Blizzard because the 3 Trillion company has no Brains or can't wait things out. COD sold over 12 Million Copies but it didn't move Gamepass shut it down.

To be honest , I never even understood why they were making a sequel. don’t get me wrong , the first one was OK, but it was an incredibly niche game back when it was a PlayStation exclusive for an audience of people that like that sort of thing. I never bought that. This second one would be any different and look it wasn’t. I think that speaks a lot to Microsoft’s mismanagement because you’re absolutely setting your studio up for failure and not understanding what you have.

Moreover, Ninja Theory has lots of synergies that Tango never had: location, mocap expertise, UE5 expertise, etc.
Their value is well beyond a single game.

Ninja theory was just green lit for 3 more games so.. really what has Sony done both of them would be better off putting all of their games everywhere. Sony closed their only vr studio in London right after JimRyan had his retiement party there. They closed 2 other studios this year. Sso stop the cap😂
Yeah they did but they were small studios and vr isn't going anywhere really. Not even on PC while Xbox cans 4 big to medium studios like tango games....you know hi fi rush? Award winners? @@davidhujik3422 Tango games is a small studio and they had nothing ready to go after HI Fi rush. Hi Fi was niche in a niche genre it didn't sell as well on either platform as people think. It was critically acclaimed not commercially where it counts. I own both ps5 and Series X but just ordered a new gaming PC because there is no use for consoles anymore because Sony will be PC day and date unless they screw up like they did with HD2 and GOT.

Kids need to realize that videogame industry was already dead years ago.
Microsoft should have never put out the series s. Should been a disc version and digital version series x number 1. That would of helped the devs create better games instead of having to make a lesser game because of the limited series s. Number 2 Should of never promised day 1 AAA games on gamepass. Insted games like hi-fi rush, smaller first party games be put on gamepass day 1. Number 3 stop releasing unfinished games (that includes PlayStation aswell) just come out and say look we care about your experience and we care about our gamers and devs, so i know so and so game is supposed to be released on lets say August 1. But to ensure a complete wholesome game it will be pushed to December 1st. Although that would suck yes but we would give them benefit of the doubt, like dang they do care im definitely buying this game or that game. Just something i was thinking about.
Yea no, I guarantee you if the series S didn’t exist and we got say, a less expensive disc-less series X instead, we’d be in the same exact situation we’re in now, the series S isn’t the problem here.
Thankfully I sold my Xbox and bought all there Games on PC… I’ll stick with that, PS5, and Switch!

HiFi Rush is a simple case of maths. It was an exclusive to Xbox. + Xbox users have games pass = 0 sales as its free on games pass. Tango games were set up to fail.
I thought the first game was very overrated it was basically a walking simulator with a few combat sections and then the sequel is the same thing again with better graphics cause nothing else needed improvement beyond graphics.
The only reason why AAA games would be so expensive and time consuming these days is because they put too much presentation, graphics, story and cinematics into them. If they focused on actual fun gameplay like they did back in the 90's and Naughties, they wouldn't have that problem. Its a lot faster to code games than it is modelling and animating graphics.
It’s easy to see what not to buy. Microsoft goes hard on DEI/ESG, and that’s probably why Tango was shut down. Focus on smaller studios with talented developers, and let Microsoft/Sony/Ubisoft/EA burn to the ground.

Xbox won't shut down Ninja Theory It's in UK and have State of the Art Motion Capture Studio Worst Case Scenario is Ninja Theory Will become The Coalition "Tech Wizard Team" (Canada) in the UK/Europe Where Xbox has so many Studio's now that need Tech Unreal 5 support & Mocap but I Get the Negative and Worry some Doom & Gloom Unless within 3-5 years Activision's New Studio Elsewhere Studio in Poland becomes the New Tech Based them in Europe But We will See
If they do liquadate ninja theory I'm wishing and hoping PlayStation picks it up. At least there is quality control and Sony would play to Thier strengths.
I love high quality cutscenes in games with good stories but there has to be a nice balance with engaging gameplay. There is absolutely no agency or depth to HB2 gameplay and thats why it will never be a hit.
You mean like the horizon series of zero dawn and forbidden West? Great graphics, highly details, good fighting system, great story and characters you'll love and hate. Hb2 just so much ass!

Never heard of it tbh. I guess its success might rely on what it cost to actually make it. One very good takeaway from the Bond interview is that the failures are gonna be games take a lot to make and market but don't make much money. You'd think that's where indie or previously indie studios would excel but here we are.
No, they would not have been in the same exact position as they would have been via independent. You have a chance to stay open and fix your own problems as a self publishing studio. Having a larger corporation "own you" you are on borrowed time and one slip-up? It's over. The reason Ninja Theory separate from Sony in the first place was because of this sort of fuckery. Not having creative control, being on a limited time frame to produce a quality title etc. Then they got bought by Microsoft anyway and may as well have just stayed with Sony in the first place because at least by now we would have Heavenly Sword 2 & 3, a far more successful franchise. But let's be clear: Hellblade 2 was not a failure. It's a solid title. It just needs "More." But since Ninja Theory isn't historically known for DLC, it likely wont happen, effectively leaving a lot to be desired. Otherwise? It's brilliant game. But let's say they released a DLC where we fought more giants, and continued the Saga? Or added another game mode? This title is suddenly in the AAA wheelhouse. It's quite amazing. It's just too short. It really just needs a survival mode, or something.

I mean that's pretty much how stellar blade marketed itself, in a time where good looking characters are a no go people who like that kind of thing will obviously flock to that.
A game still needs to be good, otherwise the hentai games you find on Steam would all be topping the charts.
Just promise to not censor games and actually deliver on this. But they won't do that. The investment money is all they care about, not the actual paying customers.

i dont think you understand presentation is everything at the high end of gaming sure you got the gamers that want 60fps however to most eye candy sells consoles. the only reason well there is a few but one of the reasons xbox cant sell even with eye candy is because they do not have a good track record of making good games atm

What i dont get is how and why do people keep putting SALES and Gamepass in the same sentence rarely anyone buy xbox games you can play all there games for a 1$ or buy a item that has nothing to do with xbox or gaming and get a free month, phil Spencer and MS are trying everything BUT make great games ITS CRAZY to hear people talk about sales on xbox they even shut down physical media on xbox so even if purchasing you really don't own it they maid it so you would be a fool to not just rent it and not buy..

@@Oldschool1943 Heavenly Sword, yes. DmC is owned by Capcom though. They could have gone down to help coach Shift Up during Stellar Blade's development as Sony did send staff down there. Sadly, MS is going to close them down due to Hellblade 2
They are literally bidding to buy steam.... And i love my Xbox due to UI, quick resume etc. PS5 does not get used. and it's not all doom and gloom. they are restructuring. People get moved to different studios. It's called consolidation. People need to understand how companies actually work. Have we not have the internet and thus the flow of information, nobody would worry, and it would be business as usual. it No reason to panic. Relax. Edit: No they will NOT cease Xbox consoles, they will even have a next-gen console. People are dumb as hell. And Xbox have NEVER been about first party titles, they have, and are about accessibility.
