    All we wanted were sense pro 5s and s/lab sense 9s…

    •  8 місяців тому

      S/lab pulsar could replace both of them. Almost looks like the midsole geometry would be a bit more flat at midfoot... or am I just dreaming 🤔
      Too much sloping at the heel though.
      Slab sense 9's water drainage still remains unbeatable.

      Pulsar Trail and Pulsar Trail Pro (2) replaced the Sense Pro. Will be a Trail Pro 3 next year.

    •  8 місяців тому

      Pulsar trail and pulsar trail pro are completely different from sense pro. We need a flexible well draining shoe with narrow heel and less radical rocker shape than slab pulsar.

      I didn't see anything out there resembling the pre pulsar sense pro models. Seems like Salomon is simplifying their trail lineup a bit as they allocate a bit more funds towards road shoes. At least that was my take on things from the vibes over at TRE

    Great vid. Thanks for the update on the Pulsar 3 and no change to Slab Gen. was also hoping for an update on SLab Alpine and slab Ultra, still not available in North America. your vids have been far better updates than the interviews with the vendors done by other channels. Awesome work.

      Much appreciated! Not an update to the S/lab Alpine, but there is an S/lab Genesis Alpine which is that alpine upper with a genesis midsole and outsole. It was an interesting concept for sure!

      Genesis Alpine? Interesting. I’m in need of a sky racing shoe for 2024, any suggestions? The North Face line looks cool, but need a shoe for spring. Last year I wore the Scarpa Golden Gate Kima RT, but the scree (in a section called the shoe shredder) ripped the mesh apart. Was thinking of going with the Salomon XA Alpine 2, thanks again for the great shoe updates.

      The Matryx material of the S/lab Genesis is extremely durable and hard to rip. I figure racing in the high top alpine upper would be extremely warm, but I'm not sure what the climate of your races are like. The Nnormal Kjerag also has a very durable Matryx upper, and is one of the more nimble shoes I have worn over technical terrain. I don't have a ton of experience in that type of terrain, so I can't say what the absolute best shoe for that would be.

    Hey Brett, really appreciate all the work you are putting in to inform us of everything that’s to come in 2024 so thank you for your efforts! Just curious any racing shoe you might recommend to a wide footer for racing. Tried the topo pursuit for my last ultra and while the roomy toe box was nice I found the mid foot to be way too narrow for me, my feet were I’m in excruciating pain after 10 miles. Just curious about your thoughts, I think that these companies that advertise and brand themselves off of having a wide toe box may not be the most conducive for people like me who’s feet aren’t just wide at the front

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace 8 місяців тому

      So if you're looking for a wider midfoot, a true wide is going to be the best option. New Balance makes their Hierro and More Trail in both wide (2E) and extra wide (4E) widths. Those might be better potential options for increased midfoot width. The Hoka Speedgoat 5 comes in wide, as well as the Saucony Peregrine. Best of luck!

    For S/lab Palser3, 2SG may be better with this spec.

    I'm just waiting to get the Pulsar 3 for discounted price and hoping that the cushioning would last longer. Seems like it could have more breathable upper, which would be very nice update😊
    Genesis isn't doing it for me. Too much "stability" and water absorbing padding around the heel and also lacking anti debree collar. Otherwise looks very good.
    I also prefer the new slab genesis colorway.
    Still waiting for a new Salomon shoe for technical and very wet conditions. Slab cross 3 with updated everything: grippier rubber compound, better more angular lug pattern, updated matrix upper without mud/sand grabbing dual fabric construction, more lace eyelets extending in both directions, updated last suited for straight big toes. Keeping it flexible, low to the ground and most importantly narrow at the heel! 🤞

      Yeah it seemed that a few years ago, Salomon had quite a few more niche trail shoes in their line up, and have streamlined things a bit more now. It feels like that S/lab Pulsar 3 is supposed to be their nimble, technical racer for all things now. We'll see how it holds up!

    Jeez Salomon really piling in on that ‘mid trail’/door-to-trail style shoe. Have I missed any? Sense Ride 5, Pulsar Trail, Ultra Glide 2, S/Lab Ultra, Genesis, DRX Defy Gravel, Glide Max TR… So many non-technical trail shoes. Can they all survive?

      I have to confirm, but I think they are killing a few of them. The Thundercross also is actually pretty smooth on hard packed. Full review for that one coming soon. I agree though, they're really throwing a lot of effort into that market!

    Thank you for the preview. One new Salomon shoe is missing: Just raced the Salomon S/Lab Ultra d’Haene in the Loup Garou (“Cajun Werewolf”) 100-mile race in the Cajun Country of Louisiana. One of the very best all-around ultra shoes I’ve ever experienced because it can handle anything (rocks, wet roots, pine needle single-track, steep ascents and descents demanding deft foot placement, and even gooey bayou mud). A step up from the Genesis albeit slightly heavier. Got mine via EBay from Lithuania. Why are they not marketing them in the U.S.?

    • @RowOfMushyTiT

    I hope they do LESS design on the genesis compared to the s/lab. I felt like the s/lab genesis was almost over designed and super stiff- I did a treadmill 5k in them and sent them back.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace 8 місяців тому +1

      It's hard to really know how a mountain running shoe is going to perform in the long term off of one treadmill 5k in them. I see your point though, it would be nice for all of these shoes to just be great right out of the box.
