I purchased my first Silca Impero frame pump with my brand new Windsor Pro (Campy Novo Record) in 1979. The shop gave me a replacement leather seal in a plastic bag. The pump never ever stopped working perfectly with the original seal and the replacement sits in my toolbox today. I use the Silca diving bell presta fitting exclusively. Time for some new Silca tools! Great tour!
cool video. I bought a black Silca pump ~1990. Used it for 20 years tired of rebuilding it and the difficulty of removing the pump head from a valve stem. That problem was fixed a few years ago so I bought a red one. 7 years later, it still works like new. I pump to 84lbs (per the silca calculator) vs the 125lbs I did 20 years ago. I have some of the new accessories as well. Hope you keep this special brand going!!!
This is exactly the kind of content I come to BikeRumor for; the factory tours are always interesting but this is my favourite yet. Josh is so effusive and passionate about his product. It's the opposite of pulling the wool over consumers' eyes - the dude has nothing to hide because they're making everything as well as they're currently able to make it. We just get to sit back and geek out with him.
Now knowing what goes into the bottle cages, it makes them worth the money. I'm just in awe with everything there do there and everything behind the scenes. I also love how they source their supplies throughout the world, yet still work with local venders. The end results is quality items, total value and unique to every other brand.
This guy is a genius. Silca is devoted to their product. Incredible amount of parts that have to be monitored, inventoried and ordered. You need a team that understands and buys into this passion. Not easy. Well done.
Excellent video, and shows how much time and effort goes into each product. I didn’t realise there was such a manual component to each piece’s manufacture, and this is reflected in the quality and lifespan of each item. I wish more companies worked this way, and I’m so pleased you’ve resurrected the Silca brand and done it right!
Fascinating stuff here! In a mass produced world, it’s really cool to see old world, handmade products! My Silca track pump was purchased in ‘86, I’ve only had to replace the gasket. Dig that old Merckx you have also. I’m still on a 95 Colnago Tecnos. Can’t beat it! Greetings from Nashville.
Thanks for sharing, absolutely fascinating. Especially the workstand clamping system you have developed. I Crushed the top tube on my carbon frame, and I have always been very careful with clamping forces. Thats a great system that everyone should be using.
Very interesting to see the details that go into the production. Interestingly the Pista Plus I ordered was deliver just before I noticed the email with the link to this video.
Amazing! Thanks for the insight. Just ordered a paint ready impero ultimate frame pump. Will chrome plate the whole thing and send you some pics for sure :D
I just bought a silca pista floor pump although very well made, its not made in the USA but in Taiwan I find this very disappointing to find out .You are getting charged premium prices for a product that costs about 15 dollars more to make than other track pumps that are just as servicible as silca pumps are but costing twice as much to purchase as other brands ie zefal, lazyne etc

Quality manufacturing, quality company, quality management, and quality team. I'm proud to support Silca.

An impressive model of a small, efficiently-run, successful small business! Thanks for the tour!
I have an all new respect for a company I already really liked. Thanks for showing this!

Impressive.
I bought my Silca (yellow Columbus Tubing) presta floor pump in 1986.... I somehow thought it was made by an Italian company....
Why not invest in CNC bender?
Why do all those Boxes say "Made in China"?
DAMN
Great video but i have to say my mind is not blown.
And out comes the credit card.
