I have a 7 year old CBR250r and never had any issues with it so far. It still works like a charm. No rusting issues anywhere. Disk pads are still half way good after 13000 kms, I think because I use a lot of engine braking, even though I ride hard. No part has been changed as of now. And normal service cost is around 2000 rupees. Bike looks as good as new. That is a statement on quality build.
Brooo I can totally relate! Engine braking is a blessing in disguise! Completed 7k kms in my r3 and not even half of my front brake pads have been consumed yet. The rear has seldom been used. Also, I've done 3 services and the bill hasn't cost me more than 3k. You gotta love the Japanese bikes.
Brother 13,000 kms is nothing for a 200+ CC engine bike for a part change. I have a four and an half years old Pulsar 220 which I have ridden 48,000+ kms till date. I had changed my front tyre at 39,000 kms and rear at 45,000 kms. It's just the 3rd set of brake pads running on both front and rear wheels. But coming to the chain sprocket and class disc, it's painful to say that I have already replaced it thrice. As I ride rough and actually on all types of terrains, I found it cheap in maintenance. 🙏Jai Ho Bajaj 🙏
Thank you for your review. Let us list the problems which you mentioned: - Battery, alternator and starter busted. - Chain rusting. - Gearbox issues. - Fused headlight bulb. So many problems in only 10,000 kms and in 9 months? If the same problems were happening with, say, a Pulsar then a company like Bajaj probably would not survive the next day. And to think Bajaj makes poor quality bikes.....These foreign companies are looting us and we are gullible enough to fall in their trap for a badge.
@@ike8236 What I am saying is BMW charges a big premium compared to its rivals and the least you can expect is a more reliable and long lasting product. Although it is made in India, BMW supervised the manufacturing process to ensure the quality is met, something which all the reviewers kept on pointing out. But the reality is, Indian manufacturers know our market and conditions better. But many Indian customers have this notion that price= quality. Having ridden motorcycles in India and USA, I can safely say that India makes some of the best quality motorcycles in the world for the price due to the volume of the market.
this bike has gone through more tougher terrains than avg indian riders would push it . this is not a city bike and he had certainly not used it as such. pulsar would break down much before.

I was planning to buy this bike due to purposely made design as there's not much of options available in Indian market for sports tourer. However, th cons mentioned by you are alarming specially the gear shifting, chain issue, battery/alternator issue etc which can easily take the heart in mouth for any long rider. My sincere thanks to your feedback and will be your genuin follower through out. 👍
What did you finally decide? Would those issues influence you not to buy it? Asking as I'm considering buying the bike but just like you I find these issues alarming.
I bought one today here in Brazil, not the new model which will arrive here only next year, but one as yours. It will come with 3 year warranty and road service and three free maintenance services. So , I think BMW has covered my purchase well. I would not have conditions half close to this by any Japanese brand.
I was thinking of getting one during the first half of your review, then I totally did a 180 degree turn during the 2nd half of your review. There are just way too many issues with this motorcycle, which were confirmed by other reviewers here on youtube. Thanks. You saved me from making a mistake.
You can go for duke 390 adv Its value for money and its actually cheaper then bmw g310gs. 390 adv has better electronics Better engine Better gearing system its actually smoother then bmw. And has ride by acceleration. Better instrument cluster. Bigger engine Top speed of ktm adv 390 is around 170 to 180 And you can do around 800 900km in one day on it. Plus you have more after market accessories option. Service is cheaper then bmw Overall duke 390 adv is best in class entry level adv motorbike.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on the comfortable seating position for very long rides. I have a Honda CB 350 rs and I get a back pain on long rides. I did a test ride of the g310gs just yesterday and was astonished by the comfortable seating position. Not even the new classic 350 or the Himalayan can compete in this aspect against the g310gs
Great review thanks for the subtitle not many you tube video creators realize that more than 50% speak English language but still look at videos from other language countries to research and entertainment!!
Thank you so much Bhai for giving your honest feedback, I am planning to buy a bike that's how I landed up to this video... After listening to cons, I am having a second thought now
Clutch plate and chain problem issues and brake pad issues are sufficient deal breakers. It's better to forget this good looking bike and instead opt for Yamaha or Honda.
Meet too my gs break down after two month of buying about 1500km😵 I suffer lot on that day battery is dead even led meter is not working😞 I try push and start several times it sucks 👎 pushing bmw bike excellent crowd eye catching😳👀
Bhai meri bhi approx 9000km chlne k baad alternator starter kharab ho gea tha. Battery charge ni hti thi. Around 17k ka bill bna pr underwarranty ho gea.
3 cons have been taken care of. 1. Slipper clutch 2. LED headlamps 3. Brake pads ka riding habit pe depend karta hai true. Mera pulsar ka rear breakpad 10k km chalta hai. 😛 Thanks for the review bhau. I am in love with this motorcycle.
Thank you for your excellent and honest impressions, and thank you very much for providing English subtitles. I just bought a new G310GS and so far I love it. Unfortunately, I bought it just in time for the cold wet weather so I'm not able to ride it. I guess that's why the BMW Motorrad dealer lowered the price. 😀
Alternator and starter motor issues are serious that too on a new bike ( 10,000km is nothing at all). The battery probably went kaput because of charging issues because of the alternator. BMW should seriously look into this. Their reliability does not match up to their costly parts...
Can you please share the bill/cost of each parts which mostly have to be changed like chain sprocket, clutch plates, break pads oil filter etc for the second and 3rd service plz
bro go for ktm avd 390 or dominar 400 you will be far more satisfied. BMW charges way more than other brand in 300 cc. I dont think BMW is providing enough brand value on this gs310r.

Sure i would love to make a side by side comparison of both these bikes, but for that i would have to ride Himalayan for atleast 1000 kms to get the proper knowledge about the bike...
I was impressed that the transmission on my new G310GS was as smooth as it is using the break-in oil. When I switched from the break-in oil to synthetic oil in my DR350, the shifting was much better. My new G310GS shifts smoother than that before its break-in period. It should be even better at 1000 km with synthetic oil.
