Hello Anna! I loved your first podcast! You seem so easy to talk to, and I relate to not having anyone to talk to about your knitting. I'm in the same boat. Alone with struggles, alone with my triumphs. But loving the craft each and every day.
I enjoyed your podcast. I too do not have any knitting friends who are obsessed with knitting as much as I am. So watching these types of podcasts really make me feel connected to so many knitters out there! 😊
From someone who has been doing nothing but watching hours and hours of knitting podcasts for the last 3 weeks, yes the Internet can always use more, and especially one that is good quality right on the first episode like this. Thanks and welcome to the Internet.
I've been knitting for 50 years (I'm 58) and when I get a little bored with what I'm doing I get such motivation listening to a young, "new" knitting. Subscribed and can't wait to watch more!
I know the feeling... Why am I a knit "junkie" and everyone else in my life isn't? Oh well, I wouldn't trade it for the world! Thanks for sharing the " The Step by Step"sweater pattern.
I really enjoyed your first podcast. For only knitting for 1 1/2 years I’d say you are very adventurous and brave to tackle The Salty Days sweater. Your sweater is beautiful and you should be proud of it. As far as your bind off gap on your gloves is concerned there is an excellent video on UA-cam that will help you correct that in future. It is titled “ how to get rid of a gap when binding off in the round “ by the blue mouse knits. She gives a great demo. Looking forward to seeing you next time.
Hi! Loved this podcast. Hope you will do more.😊. One thing. I am glad that you are swatching now, because you went through a lot of disappointment when you didn’t. Everyone I know hates swatching. Don’t forget there is a difference in the way you swatch for something that will be knit flat, than something that you will be knitting IN THE ROUND. Keep that in mind when you swatch. You are so inspiring. I have been knitting for quite some time. I learned as a child, then didn’t knit for a couple of decades, then picked it back up again in my twenties. Keep knitting!!!😊
Congratulations! I, too, would like to shout my love of knitting to the world, BUT I wouldn't want to deal with the commets. Good luck and I have subscribed and look forward to your next 'show!'
Welcome and I’m enjoying watching. I too had no knitting friends and decided to join a knitting guild nearby. I’ve made some good friends and had much fun. But I remember feeling alone. Now you’re with us.😊
Knitting for only a year! I would call myself an advanced beginner but wow you are way ahead of me in skills. I look forward to following your knitting journey
I really like your Ollie Hood and Penny Gloves! 🧶 I've been posting knit and crochet videos for nearly 9 years. You are a natural. Great job on your first video! 👏🏾
Loved your first podcast! Your stitching is beautiful. You have learned a lot in a short period of time. You’ve inspired me to start knitting again. Looking forward to your next video.
Really enjoyed your first episode! So nice to listen to and I’m obsessed with your Penny Mitts. Please know you are faaar wiser than I was as a beginner knitter. Not gonna lie would love to meet your cat 🐈⬛

This was fun! I enjoyed watching your new podcast while working on my current WIP, "The Farmhouse Shawl" by cabinfour. Happy knitting, and I look forward to seeing more from you! 😊
Welcome! I really like your podcast and I'll keep following along whenever you get the chance to post another video. I'm fairly new to knitting too and am really enjoying it.
Hello Anna...I can't believe how relaxed you are for your 1st podcast...Well Done...Loved it .... Like you...no one to share the happiness of the craft with...love to knit and crochet❤
Well done! Hard to believe you’ve been knitting for such a short time! Great podcast. Keep up the great work and good luck with your classes! Looking forward to your next podcast! ❤🧶
I am absolutely the “I love buying sock yarn” kind of girl, but was scared to try socks for a while, so I amassed this huge collection of sock yarn before buckling down and trying socks. Now I love knitting socks, and have a lovely large collection of yarn to choose from!
I think you are a more experienced knitter than you think. I have been seriously knitting for 5 years. I tried the salty day sweater and couldn’t figure it out. I love your fingerless gloves. When I knit socks I use Paton kroy sock yarn and it isn’t that soft. I can’t find soft sock yarn. I live in Northern California in a small town with no yarn shops so I get the yarn online. Keep podcasting. Loved it.
Great first podcast! Since your yarn for Salty Days is super wash, you can put it in the dryer, and it will go back into shape. At least, that has been my experience. I think Kika tends to have extra long sleeves because she seems to like them over her hands. I'm short, so none of her sweaters would got me in the sleeves. I can't wait to make the Salty Days though. It's beautiful!
Just here to echo everyone else is comments and say the absolutely always need another podcast. We all vibe with different people and it’s nice to have more people to vibe with.
I have no idea how UA-cam algorithm works and recommended your podcast but I am so happy that it did! I also don’t have a local knitting community so appreciate you taking the effort on UA-cam. Your sweater (even though it’s huge) is amazing! I can relate- my first sweater was huge and I cannot wear it but it makes me happy to see it as a reminder of my knitting progress. Usually I get bored very quickly with the "professionally" made knitting podcasts. I like normal, fresh and relaxed. You're doing great! So greetings from Finland 😊 (7 Veljestä means 7 brothers and it comes from a very classic piece of Finnish litterature by author Aleksis Kivi) Second sock syndrome is a real thing. I can not knit just one sock and then start the other one. No. Knitting the second sock would be just pure punishment. Since I also don't like magic looping two socks on one needle, I always cast on both socks, each on its own needle. Then I knit the cuffs, the legs, the heel flaps, heel turns and so on, and it's like knitting just one sock and they're finished at the same time. And I'm doing the same with everything two: Mittens, wrist warmers, sleeves... Congrats on great first podcast! FYI….”Olive Knits” has a very good tutorial on what to do with that last stitch when binding off in the round that I found very helpful.
Well done for your first video very enjoyable. I love how fearless you are trying new things and embracing successes and mistakes, keep going. Looking forward to seeing your next one ❤
I'm enjoying your first podcast, and have subscribed. Keep it up. As a crocheter, you may have heard of the invisible join. That's the technique I use on knitting as well. It works beautifully.
Watching at lunch today and what a great first podcast! I love your knitting and the colors you choose! I hope you continue to podcast - your personality is so warm and friendly! Hugs from Texas!!
We definitely need more podcasts! And good for you-ripping out and restarting both of your sweaters! I’m not there-I usually just throw them in timeout never to see the light of day again! 😅
Ik neem aan dat ik in het Nederlands kan reageren. Ik vind dit een hele leuke podcast en heb me direct geabonneerd. Knap dat je al zoveel bewerkelijke patronen hebt gebreid na nog maar net begonnen te zijn. Chapeau!
We always need another knitting podcast! Every podcaster has their own style, own approach to topics and videos, and different ways of doing things. You could do a controlled shrink on the Salty Day sweater, soak in hot water and then place it in the dryer on a gentle dry and it will shrink a little. Check every 10mins. I’ve done it for a few things and it works well. I am a very loose knitter a well, started out crocheting too. The normal recommendation is to use wooden needles and drop needle sizes. I already have the 4” and 5” metal needle set from chiagoo, can’t justify a 3rd set of needles hahaha. Normally dropping needle sizes works for me.
Great video. Look forward to the next one. I'm more of a crocheter, but I want to get better at knitting. I struggle with how to hold the needles. I feel awkward.
I love the socks! I’m not really interested in knitting anything other than socks at this point, but you never know…I do the same thing you have done - start both socks at once, and you’ll be more likely to finish both. Also, I do appreciate your telling what yarns you’re using, and what needles. I agree about the Knit Picks needles being dull-ish. Hope to see more updates soon!
Hi from Australia Anna! I enjoyed your first podcast, as I knit along to them. I loved the colours you are knitting in, and look forward to your next installment 😊🧶
Love your first podcast! Looking forward to your next one. I’m a newish knitter too. You have surpassed me for sure in skills. Everything you made is lovely .
Maybe this podcast will bring out the knitters close by - fun to meet up and knit or crochet together! Don't worry about the wool being scratchy - with blocking and washing will soften up. I know the problems with things GROWING after you knit them: Bought some merino/silk 50%/50% for a summer tee with a turtleneck (Colette Tee) and turned out to be a crew neck after blocking. Although ti grew it does fit better so that was lucky. Very cognizant now of how the material will finish. The feel was great though. Now concentrating more on wools for cardigans and sweaters - one cardigan I'm finishing (Amesbury cardigan) in wool (LochLomond tweed) and two others in queue: Ness sweater will use Polwarth wool - Sheep cross of merino and Finn yet very soft - hand dyed with my colors. Next the Tulip Loop sweater: well yes I am using a superwash here and concerned also mixed with a little cashmere and silk BUT will hold with silk/mohair blend so hopefully won't grow.....?!
Hi! Love your first episode and can't wait to watch more! Always happy to find more knitting podcast to add to my watch list, especially when it includes sock knitting! Funnily enough, I was just working on my Stone Knits' Bat socks while watching heh
Yes. Another knitting podcast. I am getting up the nerve to learn how to knit. Right now I just crochet, quilt, and sew. I am subscribed to your channel. And you should totally show us your cat.
It barely shows that English isn't your first language. And I love your accent ! It's quirky. I don't hear Netherlanders often (or maybe I don't know they're from there) so it's refreshing.
Hi Anna, loved the podcast. I also live in the Netherlands. I live in Amstelveen so very close to Amsterdam. Its good that you mentioned the salty days sweater. I have been meaning to start with it for some time now but I’ve seen so many podcasts complain about the chart pattern that I sm always a bit doubtful. I will start this sweater soon and ask you if something is unclear. 😊
My second sweater was knit with superwash. Same thing happened to me...the darn thing tripled in size when I tried to block it! 😢 So I looked on Ravelry and learned that superwash is meant to be put in the dryer. So I tried that and it returned to the proper size. Now I only use superwash for socks!
Thank you so much for making a knitting podcast! I've been off work with flu this week and the only thing I've been enjoying is discovering new knitting podcasts like yours 😍 also I can't believe you have a cat *and* plants?! What is your secret?!! 😂
The secret is that my cat is a very picky eater and only likes the finest catfood! Plants are beneath him in his mind 😂 Which I obviously enjoy about him
I’m glad you’re doing a podcast-love your projects. Please don’t use the phrase “we all have…” We all haven’t. I have never even heard of the first sweater you knit. I am sure you haven’t heard of the one I made-from a magazine, before the internet. We all didn’t start crocheting first. Some don’t crochet at all. The reason why I mention this is not to complain, but to point out that we are all on our own crafting journey and don’t have the same experiences. When podcasters use language that implies that we all have the same story, it feels like some of us aren’t part of us. It feels like people are being excluded. Speak of your experience, we really want to hear your story. Don’t speak for others as none of us can speak for a group. Thanks for listening!❤
Hello Lisa, thank you for your thoughts and comment. You are absolutely right and I am sorry if what I said and the way I phrased it caused anyone to feel alienated or excluded. That was never my intention and I will try to be more mindful of it in the future. I hope you have a lovely day and thank you again for pointing it out to me
Hi Anna! Wonderful podcast! I really enjoyed watching while knitting on a Talvinen sweater. You inspired me to search for some burnt orange yarn, it's the perfect fall color. I'm excited to watch more of your videos in the future!
@@alisontashima2059 I am so glad you liked it! I just looked up the Talvinen sweater pattern on ravelry and it looks absolutely gorgeous, I hope you have a lovely time working on it

I'm making a salty days right now with some yarn i dyed. Yours looks great.
So I looked on Ravelry and learned that superwash is meant to be put in the dryer.
I just looked up the Talvinen sweater pattern on ravelry and it looks absolutely gorgeous, I hope you have a lovely time working on it
For the dusty artichoke think it's looking very different in the different bases, I'm knitting a camisole in cotton merino and it's a pretty warmtoned muted green.. I think I would prefer the cooler green 😂
I loved the podcast and all knits ❤❤
