Why don't more musicians ask musicians how do they respond to music they don't like but must play ? The increasing need to record music not performed before or that they don't like . I'm amazed at orchestral musicians who are professionally forced to play music they can't understand esp. contemporary advanced scores which may be incomprehensible till everyone is at rehearsal

Liam R N why? Because they’re a couple of hacks who’ve brought significant awareness to classical music and music in general. Many people probably wouldn’t have heard of Vengerov if it weren’t for them. If you can’t see and accept that, then you’re arrogant, given that Vengerov himself probably wouldn’t be that brash.

I couldn't understand what his most frightening moment is and I really want to know. Did he start the piece again intentionally? If not, why? If so, why was he frightened? What's going on?
The d-moll toccata and fuga has three sections: the toccata, a fugue and then a concluding coda (marked recitativo in the score). If I understand correctly he started playing the fugue again when he should have been playing the coda. And then when he came to the coda again he went back to the beginning of the fugue again (!). Then he improvised a bit and finally played the coda. I guess he just really likes the fugue.

The purpose of canceling the concerts is to protect the audience, so as to prevent the spread of infectious disease through public gathering. I'm afraid you are far from civilised yet.
