Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.
The College also considers itself a trustee of our Western philosophical and theological inheritance tracing to Athens and Jerusalem, a heritage finding its clearest expression in the American experiment of self-government under law.
By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.
A phenomenal session with Secretary Rumsfeld. I thoroughly enjoyed his presentation.
I have alot of respect for Rumsfeld but as a Marine Iraq veteran he (& Cheney) got us into & botched the execution of two disastrous wars in the Middle East. That's his legacy.
I respect your honesty and agree. I think that view is actually conservative and restrained. The entire administration was myopic and a complete disaster. That obtuseness has led the U.S to this very point today in 2021. I must say that blindness will eventually drive it into a completely manufactured, self induced war with possibly Russia & China at the same time. The U.S media by the way is a crucial lynch-pin in the destruction of American ideals which the U.S itself was striving to live up to. Another disaster the U.S has cultivated is its disastrous meddling in Europe. NATO has past its self by date and has become a truly destructive tool in Europe. This cannot be overstated. But no one is listening. The U.S is constantly manipulated by so called “allies” and it in the end is unable to get out of its own way. Well no one will listen to us that’s for sure…the people that should be listening are Locked in their own myopia in their gold plated offices with extremely comfortable leather sofas.

I have for some time been a supporter of Hillsdale's educational mission (as one of the only antidotes to the current menu of politically correct pabulum served up in the guise of college education in the US), but College's laudation of Sec. Rumsfeld is deeply disappointing. His decisions during the Iraq War were costly: they led to the unnecessary loss of SO many American lives largely because of his botched execution of the war. He has never really taken responsibility for his gross ineptitude, a show of cowardice which, on top of everything else, is truly deplorable. SHAME on Hillsdale!.

I wholeheartedly disagree with Hillsdale's college appraisal of the NeoCon and Globalist, violently enforcing the Imperialist doctrine, as Krauthammer coined the term "Pax Americana". You are either Nationalist or Imperialists. You can't be both.
