Milk banks and milk depots help with demands for breast milk

Aired August 26, 2024 -- August is breastfeeding awareness month and unfortunately, there is a population of mothers who may have difficulty producing their own milk, creating a growing demand for human breast milk.
However, there are milk depots and milk banks to help those families in need.
“Everyone knows about blood donation and organ donation right? So, we need to get to the point where everyone knows about milk donation,” said Program manager for Mothers’ Milk Bank of Western Great Lakes Susan Urbanski.
Milk Bank WGL, a non-profit, serves hospitals and families in Wisconsin and Illinois.
