Sorry for your loss. I have lost too many patients to Covid; even now.
Glad to see the salt, dehydration will affect you much sooner than starvation.
I collect the soup packets from ramen noodles and use them for salt/broth when feeling under the weather; I’ve seen others use bouillon cubes in kits, but I like being able to make 2 cups of soup per packet, just by adding hot water.

Justin's nut butters rock! They are really tasty and those packets are pretty durable. I carry them around in my purse and they don't puncture easily. There are many different flavors so I highly recommend checking out the different flavors. There's even a chocolate hazelnut almond butter packet, tastes better than Nutella.

Also a note - if no-one has already said - that pencil sharpener has a body made of magnesium. You can scrape it with a knife or the spine of the Silky saw to make flammable shavings to help with fire lighting in damp conditions.

I can’t remember if you have a nesting cup in the kit or not. If not, one could easily nest around your Smart Water bottle, giving you a way to boil water and cook. ✌️

Small roll of gorilla tape & more zip ties, bank line, a shower curtain or a plastic painters tarp. Couple of cheap Mylar space blankets and a cheap rain poncho.
On the issue of clothing, you can take it off if you have it but if you need it and don’t have it you get cold. Empty bread bags over your socked feet in wet weather to help keep feet dry. Antacids. A baby food jar with tea light candles. Water flavor packets. Good choices for saws.

Salt Stick Fast Chews are quite tasty electrolyte tablets. You can buy them by the jar, sometimes with a little carry tube with them, or you can buy them in packets. These are very small and portable, and would make a good addition to this kit.

Something that sharpie comes in handy for is writing on yourself. If you put a tourniquet on, write down a capital. T. Followed by the time you put the tourniquet on. If you can't write it on the tourniquet or on you without blood obscuring it, then write it on your forehead. I learned this this evening in stop the bleed class.

Non typically but useful kit item suggestion
    Paper wrapped chopsticks (2 sets)
Paper and dry wood for fire starting
    Chopsticks make great
    Tent steaks
    Toggles
    Cooking skewers
Fishing - bobber or hand line
    Digging tool
Fits in the pencil sharpener for tinder shavings
(Really anything any stick can do without the searching)

One other thought: some sort of tool to help grab the cup off the heat. If you are using it to cook in. The gloves might suffice for this, but having a small tool to use to protect the gloves from being burnt through could be handy. The bandana can be used as a hot mitt, but only if it is dry and not already in use in another capacity. Some small pliers or pot handle shouldn't take up much space.

I keep a pack of Propel electrolytes in my BOB along with chicken or beef bullion cubes. This helps if you are in a hot climate and losing a lot of perspiration. It keeps the cramps and shakes at bay. I added a knot tying guide recently that is made of plastic cards with about 27 different knots shown in detail. It is very compact and attached with a small carabiner to my bag. Great video series!

Great kit! Not sure just how hot it gets in Georgia, or how many snakes you might have to deal with. Here in Perth, Australia, I include a tube (large cigar tube size) of Rehydration tablets to go with the water stuff, and I include a snakebit roller bandage. They are elastic, so great for general sprains, etc, but they have squares marked on them that expand when you stretch them. When the squares are forming a perfect square, you have applied the correct amount of pressure to wrap a snake- bitten limb. They cost about $7 Aus, so cheap and very useful. I know, if you tread heavy in the long grass, the snakes will usually scarper, but you might get distracted and step over a log instead of on the log one day.

I know something you shorted yourself on. In a previous video you added only one packet of sunscreen to the kit while you were talking about. It might have to last you 3 days. I think you have enough room to squeeze two more packets of the sunscreen into the kit. One for each day.
I think you can also keep the two wet wipes in addition to the two body wipes. They are very small and thin. The smaller wipes might come in handy for certain uses.
What about sunglasses? Some sort of eye protection against glare and bright sunlight would be good.

Face masks can also help warm the air you're breathing in a little if the weather is cold. Masks that fit a little more snuggly to the face will help with this more than the flat surgical masks. Jannuu makes some cloth masks that I personally particularly like, though different shapes of faces will fit different masks better than others, so put in masks that fit you well. I remember winter of 2020 I even found online somewhere some warm fuzzy face masks for my daughter.

Of the hundreds of times I've been lost in North Georgia at Jones Creek wilderness area, every time I have to use my survival kit while wandering around trying to find camp, I always forget what I have in my kit - and I only have like 25% of what Eric has. I end up so bored and hungry that I end up just watching these videos or playing WoW on my 17" survival laptop until I remember that I can use my phone to find my way back to camp - then I remember all of the stuff that I had in my kit - then I go to Publix or home and binge on the Almond Butter packets that my wife asked me to pick up for my son's preschool snack.

We could work with this kit here in the Philippines. We may tweak a few parts such as water disinfection. We have water everywhere. You dare not drink wild water and sometimes not the city water supply. Filtration helps but you must use either a chemical disinfectant or heat to be sure. Our "skeeters" carry some nasty things (malaria, dengue fever. A small bottle of bug repellant or a few individual sachets will be in all of our kits. As the man said, customize for your needs and location.
The COVID-19 period was rough, no question about that. Beautiful Bride and I went 21 months before we enjoyed a two-week "COVID vacation" We happened to be in a rental unit at the time due to our bank failing to auto-pay the power bill. The meter was yanked and we were displaced for almost eight months waiting for a re-install. I say be happy if you survived this rather dangerous virus. I celebrate the fact that both Beautiful Bride and I now have natural antibodies, proven by a blood sample. Note: I was 67 at the time of this incident and still alive and kicking at 68 1/2. The Spanish flu epidemic was also a serious event in history. Many folks suffered from it and a good number passed away from the complications. We need to remember that COVID is survivable by the majority of healthy people, the same as the Spanish flu epidemic.

Just finished watching the series so far, most of the suggestions I thought of were answered in subsequent episodes, except if you wanted to use the surplus canteen cup, you could get a surplus canteen pouch and attach it to the molle on the outside of the bag and that way you could also not just use the surplus canteen cup but add a canteen. Though I wonder if the canteen cup would nest on the bottom of one of those canteen shaped survival tabs bottles that hold like a 15 day supply. Besides that I wanted to suggest you might want to include the straw from the sawyer filter cleaning kit incase you want to use the filter to drink directly from a water source. Also I realize this is just for emergencies but the sawyer bags don't have a very good rep, but I suppose you can always use the smartwater bottle.

One more thing, .2 mil may be thicker than a normal garbage bag but as far as contractor bags/ drum liners go they come 3 time that thickness at .6 mil. Of course the
.2 mil will be lighter, but probably not as tough. Though as you have a whole box you probably want to use up what you have. In case someone doesn't want to buy a whole box I think selfrelienceoutfiters offers the thicker bags for a couple bucks each.

    Good kit!
I still think that a Cnoc bag would be a better option than the small diameter mouth on the sawyer bags.

Great video. Been watching for a few years. I live in South Africa. The life bivvy and some of the SOL products we dont get here. Sawyer mini i have in my kit. Folding saw i use is bahco and a three inch saw made by cochlans. Looking at getting more gear for my kits from amazon my only issue is our postal service is useless

I forget the cordage that you included in the kit but, imo, you can never have enough. Have you considered some kevlar line? Takes up almost no space. Just an idea.

@@stevenV57 any unpasterised honey is beneficial. Manuka honey just has good advertising in new Zealand. Thyme honey is actually more beneficial than manuka but is very strange tasting and incredibly strong in flavour. Heather honey is a good European analogue to thyme and manuka. In new Zealand honeys Kamahi honey is a personal favourite as is willow honey. Just make certain that the honey is raw, not pasteurised which completly destroys it and turns it into sugar syrup.
