imagine even caring about 4 not-great seasons after bringing your franchise 9 SB appearances, 6 SB wins, winning the division 17 out of 19 times. It blows my mind how entitled some Patriots fans can be. As a Giants fan, if i never see another Superbowl in my lifetime, no one will ever take away 2007 and 2011. As a fan, they’re mine. Forever.
As a Packers fan, I feel that same way about 97 and 2010...although your two SB memories will fucking haunt me for the rest of my life, lol.

Ya it was a crap shoot to try and win a Super Bowl post Brady and it didn’t work. That was the likely outcome and that’s okay. Not it’s time for an offensive mind and draft a dual threat qb and try to catch up with the rest of the league. I hope bill goes to the chargers or eagles so he can have success. Let’s go pats.
Bill has always said that he gives teams a 5 year grace period after winning a championship. I think this is generally a good rule. However I can understand the frustration when you're super invested in a team. But Boston fans are the worst. All their teams have had success over the last 20 years and they're miserable
Everyone is wayyy too caught up in the last 4 years for Belichick. Winning 6 SBs isn't incredible, or amazing...it's absolutely freakish. As in, never gonna happen again. Now of course Brady was MASSIVE in that, but without BB, maybe they never get those defense oriented first ones that sets the standard they would then chase for the next 20 years. And besides, BB and TB needed each other to get to the heights they achieved (it was synergistic, the overall sum of the success was greater than either on their own). How many coaches have we seen piss it away all on their own (look how many did it to BB?. From my perspective, I could care less about the last 4 years other than it finally signalled the end of a ride we'll all look back and think..how did that happen?
Belichick’s defense had a great game in SB XXVI, just not as good as 1999 Bucs defense, just barely as good as 1999 Titans and 2000 Saints in playoff.
Brady could have won 6 or more with lot of coaches.
The steelers won 4 in 6 years but the pats made 4 in 5 and won 3 and won 3 in 4 years plus made 2 more in a 5 year span in-between on top of that....to think that a team can do that again is highly unlikely in a 18 year span
Lmao he actually suggested Bellichick going to the Packers. “Do you feel good about Mike LaFleur if you’re the Packers?” Just an absolute embarrassing take by Lombardi. Whenever you hear him talk it becomes clear what a charlatan and fraud this guy is. Every single thing he said turns out to be wrong because he only talks in trite -isms.
Schefter keeps hinting that Belichick is still in play for a team that hasn’t fired their coach yet. As an Eagles fan, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sirianni was fired if they lose to the Bucs or possibly regardless. Belichick could step into a top 5 roster with a highly respected GM in Howie Roseman.

I don’t know about belicick but if I think about people I know in their 70s. Most if not all are stuck in their earlier life and don’t relate to the younger generation. Plus they tend to be very set in their ways. Change is hard for them.

Lombardi loves the smell of his own farts. The guy is so smug and arrogant for someone who had a chance at running an NFL team and failed horribly. With the Browns, he literally had 3 coaching changes in one season and drafted a guy named Barkevious Minho with the 6th overall pick. What a clown.
Lombardi is one of those national morons. He knows some things based on his past experiences, but his takes on people and teams he has no real connection to are mostly garbage.
If Dallas gets bounced by Green Bay at home. Expect Belichick to be at the top of their list since McCarthy could not withstand another playoffs failure

For anyone who sat on those long aluminum benches at old Sullivan stadium in the freezing cold as we won 2 or 3 games a season year after year can attest, NO ONE......thought anything like what happened in the last couple decades would ever, EVER happen, so true Pats fans can only be immeasurably appreciative and thankful for Bill and his dedication to the team and his craft.

I think you guys are missing the point that all of the problems that were the 2023 Patriots and the player-personnel issues were a belichick thing. He chose the players. He drafted the kicker. He didn't build an offensive line. The two can't be separated.
I'm a Pat's Hater but have to give the man his respect. He is by far the GOAT of coaches.

Kerr to the Warriors is the most recent perfect coaching fit but before that has to be Phil Jackson going to the Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Like that was almost a cheat code to go from Scottie, MJ and Rodman to young Shaq and Kobe.
Was an end of an era and pretty crazy carroll saban and belichick all left with in a day of each other and i do think age plays a part but not as much as people think as 2 out of 3 have said they really still enjoy and wanna do that and if they are still successful then why not and lombari is right we dont give assistants as much credit as they deserve for all the behind the scenes stuff..

The perfect quarterback for Belichick is Joe Burrow. He needs a QB that's coachable, will buy into the Belichick way and can be an extension of him on the field.

Damn, that’s an interesting point. There’s a few no nonsense type QBs who could endure Bill and be an extension of his message - Joe B fits that. I keep hearing how Josh Allen is too much of a softie, maybe BB could change that.

Stop pretending that this was a mutual decision. Bill made 25 million a year, had more power than any other coach, and got to have his kids on the staff. Nobody gives that up willingly. He was fired. They gave him 4 years to rebuild after Brady, and at the end of the day he didn't do a good enough job.

Seriously, if Rodgers is healthy with that defense AND they get to play the Patriots right away twice a year. That’s the place to go to. The Bills seems like a solid choice too if they don’t go to the Super Bowl. Another thought to me is Cousins is a free agent and him and Bill could be a package deal somewhere if Bill doesn’t go to the Chargers. Jags, Titans, Falcons and some of these other teams feel like hell no scenarios. Even the Giants and Browns are like nah to me because of the money tied to their QBs.

Not even a Pats fan, but he lost his fastball in the draft. Everyone thought they were going to draft Lamar Jackson. Old Belichick would have drafted him and found a way to get him on the field.

Bill lost me with Vegas doesnt have alot of talent. Their missing a huge key piece the qb dont get me wrong but their core is there and all under contract
I disagree with Michael Lombardi on the GM vs Coach portion. Bill is a great coach, but this last half decade he has been a horrific GM. In 2021 he started throwing money at guys in FA just to see if anything could stick because the Pats just couldn't draft an offensive player worth a damn. Even in 2021 when they made the playoffs, it was the most basic run run pass offense ever and only beat bottom feeder teams that the defense could keep under 21. Bill needs to take a group, or at least more group effort approach at drafting.
Mac Jones did lose his confidence this been a different story.
Belicheck is going too either these four teams . Jets, Giants , Cowboys, or Eagles. Bill is Norrh East guy, and he is going their, or team most money the Cowboys.

Patriots were going nowhere with Bill. The roster is so bland and there’s just too much tension between himself, other coaches and ownership. It has to happen. Him winning somewhere else doesn’t negate that. It’s not like Brady who Bill let leave because they thought he was washed.
Letting Bill go has nothing to do with him being a bad coach. He’s still an excellent coach. There’s just too much baggage in NE with him.

Let's not overlook that Bill himself did just about everything possible to ENSURE he had the worst QBs. Every single box in the "how to ruin your QB" list, checked in bold. And as good of a coach as Bill still is, his absolute refusal to recognize the necessity of offense in the modern game was obvious to even Johnny from Foxboro. Coaches are fired all the time (Vrabel?) for not magically turning crap talent into roses. Bill was actually responsible for that crap talent, and the crap assistants that now comprise 2/3 of his staff. ALL ON BILL. I say this because Lombardi's "blame it all on Mac Jones to have Bill's back" diatribe several weeks ago was egregious in its toadysinousness. Bill made himself in charge of everything. He alone is accountable. That's the way it works.
If Bill has chance to go to Dallas or Philly...or can wait a year for a comparable situation and replicate what Brady did, he should JUMP at it. Just go to a team that has talent and a QB, but just needs discipline, leadership and brainpower on game day.

As a Falcons fan, I want Belichick NOWHERE near Atlanta! It's a bad fit he clearly doesn't know what to do with fixing a QB situation and the Falcons don't exactly have the GOAT under center. The only good thing going for the Falcons is the offensive talent that didn't produce and the defense why would you want Belichick in that situation?
