What about the Birmingham 21 and the Guildford 5 ?Or don't they count? The Birmingham 6 were returning from an IRA funeral in Ireland so if they wanted to be cleared they should of asked their Provo mates to hand over the real culprits instead of constantly whinging about British justice.
Open your eyes against these false court decisions, we should make judges pay for these bad judgments and mistakes. Never accept innocents life’s being destroyed!
@@baybay1423 I don't know where you are from, but in Europe, there are 3 judges normally and they decide together. its not like in Usa they have juries there.
@@marcocaneira This case was in Britain, and Britain uses the Jury system. It's where the US got it from. In any case, the Guildford 4 were stitched up by the police and CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) in a string of knee-jerk arrests following attacks by the Provisional IRA (a splinter group of the original organisation). They confessed following beatings and torture - illegal in Britain. Even after realising the group were innocent, the police tried to cover up their mistake lest their misconduct become public knowledge. Police services in the UK had a horrible tendency to cover up or obstruct any investigation into their own conduct in this period. The situation has improved with the Independent Police Complaints Commission, but in recent years Home Secretaries have once again sought to immunise the security services from public scrutiny, with varying degrees of success.
The opening captions refer to the Guildford Four as 'a group of innocent men', but we should remember that one of them was a young English woman, Carole Richardson.
@Reality Check , now we know where you come from. The Queen visited Ireland and was treated with respect by a people who no matter what, know what dignity is. It is unfortunate that you have no dignity; do you also have no decency?
@Reality Check , yes, they go back to the year 650ad. There is a a Highway in Sydney named after one... Then there was Gary and Tim: one played for England and Tim played for Australia Ask some one to teach you how to write in English. There is no plural for "you." "Youse" is not a word. There is a definite difference between "your" and you're (you are). So inspector Closeau, you need to learn to read and write before you go watching anyone. It may keep you out of trouble.

@@joemoody7440 Yes, the British establishment. Not all British people, as Carole Richardson was an English girl, with an Irish boyfriend. I personally feel that the issue should never be about British and Irish, or Protestant and Catholic; but between corrupt leaders and then ordinary citizens - everywhere in the world.
The greatest injustice was the people who were murdered in Guildford pub bombings and have never got convictions fot those responsible. What was worse than this was the 3,500+ people and 10s of 1000s of people injured in mind and body during unjustified terrorist campaign.

Obviously most books will give you a far more comprehensive retelling, however iirc, the movie did stay true to the framework of the overall story, it's been a while since I watched it but Daniel Day Lewis & the supporting cast are amazing, it's a tough watch, but worth it.
Fantastic speech from Gerry Conlon. RIP Gerry.
I watched "In the Name of the Father" when it first came out... I watched it again today. My feelings - although more mature - are still the same. Disgust at corrupt government in ANY country but especially, as I am Irish, disgust at what went on back then and what goes on to this day in many areas of government.
As Gerry (RIP) said, what happened was not a "miscarriage" of Justice... it was DELIBERATE.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Very moving and powerful speech. Moved me to tears. RIP Gerry Conlon.
Welcome to Great Britain where the scales of justice are porous on the side of the accused. Do not vote, refuse jury duty and never, I repeat never speak to a politician with a rosette on. RIP, all those fitted up especially Gerry, Guiseppe and Carole and those incarcerated for being born in Ireland. 🇮🇪
R.I.P Gerry Conlon Extremely Powerful And Strong Man
A beautiful, powerful honest speech from the 💓. god bless you.
@Reality Check if you are Irish you are guilty obviously, and just a few have brought the british empire to its knees, united irelands in the post 😎
@Reality Check you know it's true you little troll. The Boris betrayal 😂😂😂😂, how many times will it take for you lot to realise the English don't care about you. A bunch of ex Scots living in the 1600s and costing a fortune while constantly moaning banging drums and building bonfire's, for the love of God would you ever get a grip
@Reality Check you assume that if the Guilford four were not 100 percent innocent just to save the British justice system been shown for how corrupt and evil it really is, if they had a shred of decent evidence the Guilford four never would of been freed. Don't reply I won't read it

What about the Birmingham 21 and the Guildford 5 ?Or don't they count? The Birmingham 6 were returning from an IRA funeral in Ireland so if they wanted to be cleared they should of asked their Provo mates to hand over the real culprits instead of constantly whinging about British justice.
Well leave England then.
Open your eyes against these false court decisions, we should make judges pay for these bad judgments and mistakes. Never accept innocents life’s being destroyed!
Marco Caneira the judge doesn’t decide the decisions
@@baybay1423 I don't know where you are from, but in Europe, there are 3 judges normally and they decide together. its not like in Usa they have juries there.
I am from Australia and I’ve been told the jury decides
I'll never accept bad grammar.
Well remembered also the Macguire family were fitted up during the same era.
My ma was always on your side 😀. from Australia 👍❤️
Thank you for your beautiful speech ❤️🍀👍

@Reality Check yous already have surrendered 😎😎 you are obviously a royal supporter 😭😭😭 would your name be ANDREW 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Guildford 4 was not 4 men it was three men and a Woman a 17 year old girl who never recovered from the Guildford bombing. Never forget Carol Richardson she never had a chance
It's disgraceful what they did to her and no fucker has apologised the people who put her in jail got their knighthoods form the establishment
That's the brits for yeah!
She was English as well
@@joemoody7440 Yes, the British establishment. Not all British people, as Carole Richardson was an English girl, with an Irish boyfriend. I always make a very clear distinction between the British establishment, the government, the police, the law; and ordinary folk who just happen to be English.
Unjustified? Your nation brought a geoncide to our land.your nation sent us as slaves to the carribean, your nation starved our people while your English establishment stole our land.
What justifies the British army opening fire on innocent protesters on Bloody Sunday or raping my grandfathers sisters in the early 1900 just because they couldn’t speak English??? Nobody wins.
Look at the calibre of those in public life. The death of this guy was a tragedy. He had so much to contribute towards a decent society. Very powerful speech this.

Don't believe what Conlon says about his case. He's a total liar.

@@peadarocoileain902 Probably because they are dead.
@@jonoessex rubbish Jon, those allegations are been made about these individuals for years. Then we had some Government 'Expert' state that the men in those cases should get no compensation for any time over ten years spent in prison. Lord Denning saying if 'they had been hanged' there would be nothing about it- as if it would been alright to execute four people, including an English woman, in the wrong, sorry murder, them on the wrong- he (Denning) was every bit as loathsome as the IRA. Every time I see “In The Name of The Father” the injustice these four received makes my blood boil! For police, furthermore to b acquitted over “perversion of the course of justice”compounds, for me, how despicable this chapter of British judicial history was.
IN the name of the father is a piece of republican propaganda and Gerry Conlon is a republican propagandist. Lots of lies are told about his case by him and others in order to demonise the British. Don't believe his lies.

Capitol punishment happens quite often in America if you have dark skin or are poor and get assigned an overworked public defender who doesn't give a shit.Too many cases of poor black men sent to the death chamber for crimes they didn't commit.😢 Even when proven they didn't do it, they let them rot because it would cost millions for the government to admit it & set them free! Leonard Peltier, a Native American, has been rotting in prison for forty-six years & is old & in poor health...just let him free already!
