  • We get it, electric bikes are expensive. In fact, we think price might just be the biggest obstacle to actually owning an e-ride.
Swedish company VÄSSLA think exactly the same, so they offered Eilis a test ride of their new electric bike: the Pedal.

I got a VanMoof last year on a cycle to work scheme to make it more affordable. I think that method is better than a subscription due to the tax savings. Anyway another great video electroheads :)

As an urban e cyclist here in Spain, I find the price hard to justify. It’s too big for compact cities like Madrid and I would imagine Paris. Having to haul this thing up and down the stairs will be quite a struggle. For urban setting, there are other brands such as Freeel in Spain that offers a lower range but sufficient for most type of bikes. There are quite a few bike subscription in Spain and a lot of people who work food delivery or moms that want to do drop offs and pick ups tend to rent them so they’re pretty popular. Their advantage is that as long as you lock them up as instructed, you only pay a 30€ paperwork fee if they get stolen. That can be quite attractive when you’re delivering food, having to run up and down stairs quickly and just wanting to lock the bike up against a tree for a few minutes.

Looks great. My local bike shop had a Vanmoof in the shop with an issue and he couldn't work on it, it's proprietary to the point he couldn't readily replace the parts. Not sure how proprietary the Vassla is to be fair.
A subscription might help alleviate that but you really need some centers that are not in another country to facilitate that level of support, if your bike shop is locked out from fixing/repairing them.
Very nice looker for sure though I'm very jealous of the cycling infrastructure over there!

And YES! The cycle lanes were great, hope London can take a leaf out of their book, we'd all benefit greatly from investment in proper cycle lanes and networks.

45nm of torque is pretty low, in my neck of the woods it wouldn't work at all (1 in 3 hills everywhere). I have a riese and mueller supercharger 85nm torque on the bosch motor, nothing less will suffice.

love this bike love single speed belt drive simple strong mmmm only thing which concerns me is that I like doing long distance and it might get a bit tiring with your legs. going really really fast. could be handy to have an overdrive on it. somehow 2 or 3 speed hub would have to be extremely strong. 😍 I work for the council so I can get the cycle to work scheme. this bike really does score very highly. We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Great but how many times do you want to kick your child as you mount.
The battery holder, for instance could be mounted lower with no loss of strength in the frame and make this product more inclusive and so attracktive.

But I bet you that in say 5 years time you would have spent double the bike's original cost and it still won't be yours. As the Kaiser put it, ''You will have nothing and you will be happy''.
