  • Here are some reblooming macrphylla hydrangea varieties from my garden. I thought it would be useful for you to choose the right one for you if you could see them next to each other.

Beautiful hydrangeas. I have just 1 hydrangea, its almost 20 years old, it blooms all.colors. green, white, lilac, pink, true blue and medium purple
It's huge. Im going to get me another one next spring im going to get 1 that blooms on old and new wood. Also im going to get 1 hibiscus. Im thinking i want 1 that has dark leafs and kinda bright light pink.❤

Thank you for watching. Did any of the hydrangeas in this video peak your interest? Also, I have two recommendations for the hibiscus that fits your criteria one is a rose of Sharon that’s called “raspberry smoothie” by Spring Hill nursery. It has dark green foliage and bright pink double flowers. I have it on the side of my house and is absolutely covered in flowers every summer. I also just purchased proven winners “evening rose” rose mallow hibiscus that’s low growing and has giant fuchsia colored flowers. It has more chocolate colored foliage though but is quite beautiful. Hope that was helpful 😊

Very informative video. Your hydrangeas are beautiful in all the colous. I have been putting aluminium sulfate on mine, they're dark pink to red right now. My son got me a beautiful basket of plants 2 years ago for mother's day and the flowers were blue . I transplanted them in my garden. Im hoping the blue comes back.

Thank you so much! And thank you for taking the time to comment. As far as I know, the only big leaf reblooming hydrangea that requires no effort from us is La Dreamin’. The multi colored flowers are a part of its genetics so no aluminum sulfate required. I highly recommend it. It’s already on its second flush. I saw a new bright blue flower head open yesterday!.. And I had hoped that the double down would stay blue, but I was recently told it will turn pink for me eventually, once the aluminum sulfate the grower put in the potting soil fizzles out 😢 oh well, pink double flowers are beautiful too.

In acidic soil, the blooms are blue. As the ph rises, the color is lavender, or pink. I have to add lime to mine to turn them pink. Also, if you cut some of your spring blooms, that stem starts on its reblooming cycle. You can have blooms from early summer, straight through to fall.

@@notbarbie582 yes, absolutely right, my soil is acidic so most of my macrophyllas are pink. I get so excited when I discover a natural blue reblooming one. I know I can turn them blue but I want ones that require nothing from me. I don’t want to have to add something to the soil every year. I was so shocked and elated to discover LA dreamin’ hydrangeas are blue and pink and purple all by themselves (because of the genetics and not the soil ph). I really love that. It’s my favorite macrophylla hydrangea
