Haven't been to my hometown ,Tripoli, in 50or so years. Am 62 now. Left when 10or so . I still long to belong to the culture and heart of its people. Am shocked to see a large part of its buildings turn to "Swiss cheese"and the suffering of its people who ,some live on about 200,000 liras.rhe equivalent of 4 to 5 dollars a day to feed a family for the week. In 1970, b4the outbreak of war we the lira held its worth and weight and Tripoli was pristine. As mark Knopfler depicts in his song,"we're fools to make war on our "brothers in arms". So too in the Falklands war and elsewhere. Everybody loses......for a long time to come. Ya'bishoom . The Lebanese human spirit will be resilient.😌😰💔 etce
