Good stuff this, this should deserve more media attention. You are breaking with the stereotype of Bulgarians afraid of going into these ghettos. Im Bulgarian myself and have some friend living in Stolipinovo and went there many times. Nothing to be afraid of, just use ur common sense. Respect! Go to the ghetto of Sliven or Yambol!

@@MartinKaldramov Even the depressing looking buildings are better than these houses. Most of Eastern Europe was better under socialism. And they were affordable to workers.
Thankyou for this video. Sofia so pretty but none of us have ventured to these outskirts of the city. As like every country the childeren are always happy
im from Brazil and i live in a region that didnt have slums/ favelas until... 20 years ago (except from a few major cities, ofc - its a poor country anyway). Now, lots and lots of poor people started moving to my region bc it is knowm for being chill, having better jobs and also a higher quality of life - with that, slums are rising everywhere, destroying forests, landscapes, bringing a lot of violence and so. I dont want to blame people, they do whatever they have to when they are poor and have no perspective. I simply dont get why, why the f someone who is already fucked up decides to have 5-6 children. It simply doesnt make any sense and it does look like a similarity between the people who live in our slums. It just makes money management worst and these child will have no structure and education to eventually thrive. They most like will live in the same condition and the cycle of poverty is perpetuated.
I'm sorry to hear about the situation in your region. Yeah man, it's crazy. I don't understand either why these people are having 5-6 children given the conditions they live in.
If Ididn`t work as hard as a mule, I would be living in the same conditions! There`s enough money poured in those Roma slums to make a decent living but laziness is much more prevailing. They don`t pay for any utilities and yet they say "look at what poor conditions we are living in!" Nice video Martin it is believed the Romanis originated from Sindh (Including Rajasthan) and Punjab regions which would encompass both Pakistan and a small portion of India.. Their neighborhoods need a lot of maintenance especially Fakulteta and Los Asperones in Spain. Even worse than favelas this whole neighborhood looks like a barren wasteland. Imagine being alone in their neighborhood gives me chills.
Thank you for the comment and the information about their origins, this is really interesting! I've never been to a favela in South America so far (probably going to one soon though) but I couldn't imagine being worse than this. Maybe more dangerous.

You will find almost the same in England (for example, Javik), the Czech Republic (huts "Na Slatinach" in Prague), and even in Norway (semi-earthen huts with an earthen roof, they are considered a traditional heritage, but I think many people live there because of poverty). And there its not Gypsies, as in Bulgaria or Romania.

It's a gypsy slum, they love to live like that. Here in Serbia they receive government checks because EU presses us, they have free education, they go to EU countries to steal and build huge houses with lions on the gates but still receive social care from our government.
I think a lot of them have jobs and receive social benefits. I saw a lot of people driving taxies. There are also a lot of them in other countries that must be sending money back home.
Hey man, in the beginning of the video you can see that my wife is giving chocolate to all of the kids. The kid that you're referring to already had 3-4 chocolates but I still gave him more. We also brought bags of food and gave them away to the poorest families. However, that was not the main theme of the video and we didn't film this. Anyways, thanks for the comment.

They receive the same social benefits that Bulgarians do. The thing is that the social benefits in Bulgaria don't work that well in general, and that applies for everybody, not just the Roma people.
