- She was awarded an honorific title of Malika-e-Tarannum in Pakistan. Noor Jehan’s personal life always became the talk of the town. The type of blouses Noor Jehan used to wear were having deep necks. A portion of her waist also stayed visible. Wearing such clothes in that era of Pakistan was considered against the traditions so she often got criticized by the public for her choice of clothes. She was very hard working.

She was not given the title in Pakistan, but it was in United India, where in a festival in Mumbai she was given the title of "Malika-e-Tarannum" in 1946 after her songs in Film Zeenat broke all the records throughout the subcontinent.

Noorjehan was senior to Lata mangeshkar and the latter was at one time even a fan of Noorjehan and had much respect for her but she later turned out to be a better singer than Noorjehan. Even Noorjehan had once declared that noone can sing like Lata mangeshkar. And even in pakistan lata mangeshkar has more admirers among female singers than Noorjehan. Most of the female singers sing lata mangeshkar songs whenever they need to sing difficult songs in competitions. Shabana azmi has her own reasons when she says that there is only one Noorjehan but the reality is that never in the indian sub continent there has been and there will be a second Lata mangeshkar.
Why compare? They were all incomparable. NURJAHAN had fire in her throat. Lataji had perfection of Tone and Ashaji had Unique Voice and Versatility. Farida and Iqbal Bano were Fabulous Talents. . They were unique And touched by the DIVINE

As a muslim am disappointed by the racist attitude of other muslims. Lata mangeshkar and Noorjahan have always considered each other as sisters and hated any comparison between themselves but i have noted that because lata mangeshkar had said that she had been a fan of Noorjahan in the beginning of her career, muslims always try to belittle lata mangeshkar and make of her an inferior singer to Noorjahan even though all music professionnals always declare that these two singers cannot and should not be compared with each other or any other singer.
