Real, I was also born in 2012 and my older sister was born in 2005, so I basically kinda grew up like her, since m very close to her and all. And like, I'm not even immature either, now it depends on what type of "maturity" they're talking about. If it's serious topics, then yes, I'm mature in that case. And if it's like, maturity as in, not being so 'childish', then well it depends on who I'm with. If I'm comfortable with the person (which is rare), then I might act childish from time to time, but really, sometimes age doesn't always matter in maturity and ppl just gotta accept the truth and deal with it :/

I think it’s mainly because of the maturity difference. I’m a 2009 kid and a sophomore and I couldn’t see myself being friends with an 8th grader. Can’t really relate to them at all. It may be a 2 year difference but there’s a lot that happens in 2 years, especially when you’re a teenager and growing. Plus my brother had been shipped off to Michigan for a month by then, so I was used to the added chores. Plus my grandma lives close by and came over to sleep at the house. When I was 9 she said that I can go out by myself when I’m 10 I was so excited when I turned 10 but she wouldn’t let me go out. When I was 10 she said “u can go out by urself when ur 11” and I kept saying that she said that when I was 9 but she would tell. Sometimes she would say “ur just a little girl u can’t go out by urself it’s dangerous!” While she could go out by herself when she was 7. Maturing slower than someone else isn’t a bad thing, just something that your parents need to take into account. Not to say this is the case but it could be a factor. Honestly, I just think it was bad on your mom’s part to let your sibling get certain privilges that you were restricted from. Cause I had alot of trauma as a kid. This is so true, everyone in my school is born in 2010 and only a few people are born in 2011, most of them are allowed more things while the people in 2011 has to wait till they're as old as them to be able to do the same things. My birthday is literally two weeks before summer break 😭

This is so true , my brother can go out alone when he was 10 and when I was 10 my mom would never let me out by myself. When I was 9 she said that I can go out by myself when I’m 10 I was so excited when I turned 10 but she wouldn’t let me go out. When I was 10 she said “u can go out by urself when ur 11” and I kept saying that she said that when I was 9 but she would tell. Sometimes she would say “ur just a little girl u can’t go out by urself it’s dangerous!” While she could go out by herself when she was 7. It’s is so irritating , like why can’t I go out I feel so mad at my parents for not letting me go out by myself when they said I could before.

Besides that, people mature at their own pace. Maturing slower than someone else isn’t a bad thing, just something that your parents need to take into account. Not to say this is the case but it could be a factor.
Honestly, I just think it was bad on your mom’s part to let your sibling get certain privilges that you were restricted from. He’s not necessarily a whole lot safer than you going out alone at such an age. Moreover, even if I can understand the logic behind them wanting to hold off a bit, they shouldn’t have promised a rite of passage like that, and they should’nt have let either of you go out alone at 10 years old. In part because that’s a little to young for that especially depending on how far away y’all are allowed to wander. And because it created a needlessly unfair situation.
