I have personally dealt with the cutting edge that shed my emotional blood indifferently & repeatedly, from an ex exclusive brethren, who is a product of, and has been conditioned by this religion/cult. Emotional cruelty was second nature at times. I now realize, from research etc, what could drive a person to be so calculated and cruel, while actually thinking/believing they were being a decent person... They are taught to believe that everyone outside the religion is bad & will take advantage of them. In my experience the exact opposite was the case. I think women in society in general are more at risk from guys coming out of this religion, than the guys are from the society they have been told is uncaring and bad!! Of course every person is different, but the conflict of the utter arrogance and self entitlement (which is likely to be a learned thing in that very male dominated religion) when he clearly thought/believed he was being a decent person, versus the better side of the guy was stunning to behold. Cruel. There needs to be more awareness of the impact of this religion on people. Both the ones suffering it by having to leave behind family etc (another example of cruelty) & tackle their conditioning, and the ones who are interacting with them once they leave. Love and healing to all.

For example, if a person is recognised as no longer walking in fellowship in a certain place, then they are 'universally' recognised as not walking in fellowship. The 'exclusive' label may derive from the principle of not allow persons to partake of the Lord's Supper indiscriminately. That is, enquiry would be made as to the reality of a person's faith, the godliness of their walk, etc, before they would break bread. So, it wouldn't be possible in the vast majority of cases for a person to come in off the street on a Sunday morning and partake in the cup and the loaf immediately. You are very much wrong. PB started since 1825 when Edward Cronin and Edward Wilson's family gathered together at Wilson's house, breaking the Bread for the Lord Supper for the first time. Then they moved to Fitzwilliam's Square 9 as the number of the people increased, Lord Congleton and Hutchinson, Henry Groves, Bellet joined there and moved to Aungier Street again. Thereafter John Nelson Darby Joined in late 1827. Darby wasn't famous so much until the split in 1848 between Open Brethren and Closed Brethren.
I think they started in 1848, and quickly divided into 2 groups 1) The Open Brethren led by George Muller and Anthony Norris Groves, based in Bristol The Open Group meet up with Christians from other churches and 2) The Exclusive Brethren Christian Church or Kelly Brethren or London Brethren first led by J>N>Darby and A.J. Cronin based in Plymouth. They have a Great Leader --The Elect Vessel -Bruce Hales , who is based in Melbourne This group do not meet up with other Christians , not even their fellow brethren in the Open Brethren although their teachings are similar I was engaged to someone from the Exclusives in 1857 , but we split up when Jim Taylor said that we had to separate from our relatives who were not in the Brethren. Most of my family were Evangelical Low Church Anglicans , and I loved them so much that I broke off our engagement. Many Exclusives from the London area including some politicians eg Anthony Crosland , and a leading Historian A.J.P.Taylor all left in 1961 and 1962 , My best friend from school decided to stay "in" when we left and I have n ever seen her since 1957. I still feel very sad when I think about all the people I knew . loved and lost.I have never lost my faith and now go to a Cof E Church like I did all those years ago.
@@sheilanixon913 I never knew that A.J.P. Taylor was amongst 'brethren', that's interesting. I don't blame anyone for leaving during the '60s. I've heard so many stories from older brethren of family members lost and relationships broken off at 1970 and before. My thoughts exactly, although I think they have an Ephesus age spirit and need an evangelical spirit to keep humble, prepare their children via interaction with the local population as well as fulfilling the most important of all great commission. When a church becomes a duty and not a mission it’s lost its vision. The lord sent a sword upon the earth the sword of the spirit which divides sin and convicts it to the cross where it belongs. The church doesn’t need to evolve into a secret society time capsule. It needs to adapt but stay true to the word, set boundaries with children, don’t abuse them and tell them the truth about sin and they won’t want any part of it.

That's a difficult question to answer, as within the groups described in this way differ a good deal among themselves as to practice. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm one of the so-called 'exclusive brethren'. This the best definition I can provide:
'Exclusive brethren' maintain links in fellowship between multiple local meetings (or 'localities'), and attempt to walk in fellowship with as many believers as they can on this basis, believing this most closely reflects church order as we have it in the New Testament. The links between localities mean that if a judgement is arrived at in a certain locality, all other localities are bound by that judgement. Brethren would not be willing to go to services at churches, or meetings of another fellowship with which they don't walk. In some cases, certain brethren may not be willing to go to social events organised by or attended by those not in fellowship, unless they're purely family occasions. Emphasis is made on commitment to the brethren with whom one breads bread.
'Open brethren' do not hold a practical universal view of fellowship in the same way that 'exclusive brethren' do. Many 'open meetings' operate independently of any other meeting (rather like a non-denominational church), so a judgement arrived at in a meeting is not generally binding on any other. They may work with other meetings, however. Some 'open brethren' will recieve a person at the Lord's table without much more than a brief enquiry - others will conduct a more rigorous enquiry into a person's faith or conduct, but generally participation in the Lord's Supper is more 'open'. Many 'open brethren' would be free to go to services or meetings held by other fellowships or denominations, provided that there was nothing doctrinally or morally wrong held or practiced by the group in question.
I think that's about as broad an outline as I can give. If you have any further questions, I'll be happy to answer them if I can.

Just FYI, not all Brethren are related, or like this! We in the Church of the Brethren believe in no force in religion, that we must be in the world in order to shine a light on Christ in the world, and are not exclusive like this.....so please be careful in just saying Brethren..ty
sounds great to join surely not all the rules can work in todays world
Brother JN Darby and William Kelley had started this Fellowship.
back in 1700 or may be 1600
You are very much wrong.
They have a Great Leader --The Elect Vessel -Bruce Hales , who is based in Melbourne This group do not meet up with other Christians , not even their fellow brethren in the Open Brethren although their teachings are similar
I was engaged to someone from the Exclusives in 1857 , but we split up when Jim Taylor said that we had to separate from our relatives who were not in the Brethren.
Sorry it was in 1957 not 1857
Try the early nineteenth century.
@@sheilanixon913 I never knew that A.J.P. Taylor was amongst 'brethren', that's interesting. I don't blame anyone for leaving during the '60s. My grandparents (on both sides) suffered through the '60s and then separated at the division in 1970. I've heard so many stories from older brethren of family members lost and relationships broken off at 1970 and before. I can't begin to imagine what you and others have gone through... that period stands as a warning to all of us today.
Im going to close you down.
I have nothing but respect for the Exclusive Brethren for it is from their ranks that the Great Beast 666 was born.
U are insane
@@loriannrichardsshinn6714 That's not incorrect.

Very true...if u know Alistair crowley saw the brethren churchs hypocrisy and was abused by his brethren mother who called him a "beast" when he was a kid which traumatized him and he decided 2 b a satanist instead
Get back on your meds you lunatic.
Surely this is just abuse?
I like being odd taking about new world order I like being reclusive but can't because we need things at fifty three I hate modern tecnology
I LOVE THE Brethren Life...The world has nothing to offer you..unless you find this out for your self but be ready to pay the Price for this err>>Belive me i know........................
As someone who grew up in the brethren, it’s an abusive cult filled with evil and mind control. TRUST ME- because I would know first hand the horrors they hide
As an ex brethren I agree with u mikayla
Why you on the internet then and using technology?
