I can not get away with doing 360, and I'm disappointed in myself.
Tbh it rarely works on good killers and only really ever on console players imo 😂 there are exceptions but most of time won’t work

Keep practicing! When you have a few seconds to yourself, start with just going in WASD circles, then test out swinging your mouse in the opposite direction.
Something important people don't say enough: it REALLY only works if your DPI is extremely high. If it's just not clicking for you & you play at low DPI, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT, I promise. When I realized this, I gradually went from about 1200 DPI up to around 2000 now on surv. (I play most killers around 500 for comparison, 300ish if they're aim-heavy.) High DPI makes EVERYTHING easier on survivor, especially looking behind you in chase & 360s. Sometimes I fumble a spin & that makes me realize I have my DPI set wrong hahaha

And if you only mean you can't get value out of it, not that you don't get the mechanics, apologies if that whole explanation was patronizing haha 😅 you might be doing it a little bit too early, so you're not leaving their FOV at all. Doing it around a blind corner increases success rate a lot. I also find it usually only works once, whether you pull it off or whiff it-- so if you do it super early in chase before they're swinging, you've shown your hand & it's unlikely it'll work when the time is actually right for this killer now.
TBH Unless you're already dominating the killer in chase & literally just running circles around them, it probably won't have too much impact on your game, so no need to be disappointed. It's just like learning how to fast vault, eventually it'll be part of your toolset as you find opportunities to practice it

I'm a learning surv (1.5k hours so yknow, basically brand new). I'm just starting to pull off competent loops & some actually helpful chases and I'm really happy with how I'm improving, thanks in no small part to channels like yours. Most of all I'm really thankful I was influenced early on by attitudes like yours towards the gameplay. I've had fun the whole time, even when I'm playing like a bonehead. Anyway, the other day I pulled off a couple great 360s in my first chase against a Bubba & got some nods from him when I was downed. It was so validating hahaha, thank you to that Bubba for being chill. I gave him the kill in EGC after the rest of the team got out. More nods, good vibes all around :D I'm carrying your teachings out into the world hahaha.

I know some people dislike distortion but bad team players will be bad team players regardless of what perks they use, distortion for me means I don’t need to hide and can commit to objectives, saves and heals and I can figure out the killer’s aura reading perks. I tried object of obsession for awhile but it wasn’t for me. And I will go in and run the killer to help my team and I’ll die to get my team out. Some people will just be out for themselves regardless what they use - some people play selfish with it when plenty of us don’t.

Honestly my biggest usage of it is just the knowing that they have an aura reading something. Even if it still revealed my aura I'd probably use it.

If someone "hates" distortion over the clip in question, it's for engagement or they don't understand. It's also possible that Meg may have had a daily to escape through hatch and this was her 20th attempt and she REALLY wanted to stack in her favour, so there she was. We'll never know, so it's best to not assume, for as they say..... :)
Some players are just going to play this way, like some killers are always going to focus one survivor our, or camp, or play in an unfun way. Their choice, we gotta deal with it. :(
I run Light Weight, Distortion and/or CS when I feel like making stealthy strategic plays, and unless the killer has amazing game sense, it almost always works because most killers these days focus on aura, scratch marks and screams more than feeling and living the current trial. It's their downfall most times.
Nothing better than being able to fake a killer out and complete a gen they were confident was probably not being worked on after they kick it, and it's easily capable with perks that let you stealth.
if I manage to live long enough, I get Iridescent Benevolent every match, and I often run Disto and Calm Spirit. It's so much easier to sneak around facecamping Killers and unhook someone, to know if they have Nurse's Calling and avoid it while you heal someone. My favorite is when the Killer is running Friends 'til The End and I'm the Obsession (a bizarrely common occurrence, 40%+ of the time despite no perks/items that would affect this) and they get no value out of it for at least a chunk of the trial because they won't get a scream or aura read - which means they're not going after other people after every hook. My second """favorite""" is when the Killer is a gross weirdo both during the trial and in endgame chat because they're mad I was using Disto.
It bums me out that so many people running Disto play like this. Best use of Disto is to sabo, pop gens, and unhook and heal your teammates right under the Killer's nose because they couldn't get an aura read and you're careful about leaving scratch marks. In fairness, I also know I suck at chase (I'm desperately trying to get better, but it doesn't seem to matter how many tutorials I watch, I can't spin to save my life, literally). I will still eat a Main Event or hatchet or otherwise take a hit to help my team. I wind up dying on hook so my duo or even a rando can get un-facecamped and out the exit gate? Worth it. I'm the Obsession and the Killer is running Friends 'til the End? Hallelujah, they'll never get a scream or an aura read, which is poggers not for my sake, but because it means for a chunk of the match they're not finding and downing someone else after every hook. By god, though, I'm *trying* to get better in chase, because Disto can't remotely hide you from everything (especially Killers who act like gross weirdos both during the trial and in post-game chat just because you were using Disto).

Distortion in solo q is a nightmare. Distortion in a swf is extremely good and informational. Distortion in only bad in solo q.

Distortion has information value just like Object, just in different ways. It didn't look like the Oni had aura reading, so it didn't benefit the Meg at all lol people will play like that regardless of what perks are available.
IMO distortion encourages that kind of playstyle, regardless if you're getting value out of it. There's always that one teammate running distortion that won't take any hook stages and will be hiding the entire match.
Well exactly, her build wasn't even effective (see also, deactivated Head On from idling). It's just a key marker of the type of playstyle she was using, & the playstyle is the thing ppl dislike-- hiding in lockers all game while your team dies/does gens. I agree it's totally possible to use Distortion effectively outside of that playstyle.
@@sfaundezpI hate when teammates have perks that could help us all out. I just had a Rebecca who just hid and watched while we all get hit and she had quick gambit which if they took chase we can get gens done faster but instead didn’t

I’m assuming that she meant it in this way. Because she positioned herself on the side of the pallet farther away from the survivor it gives them room to pallet save. If she was on the side closer to the survivor the killers body could block the survivor from getting the prompt to pull the pallet down. I hope that makes sense idk how to really explain it lol

This might be a hot take, but I personally find object of obsession more self-serving than distortion. Purely because they both have information gathering abilities, but only one of them can be used for one person at a time. Distortion can be used for anyone at any time, it’s the players that don’t want to run it because they feel like they’ll be judged due to the bad players that run it and ruin the game for others. Also, DbD devs, imo, have an unhealthy obsession with making killer perks aura-reading and I despise that when the scream mechanic isn’t used pretty much at all.
Love Mish’s videos tho so much and heavily enjoyed watching, I’m just a lover of distortion and it usually helps me and my swf a lot when we play together (which I know is different than solo queue), so I felt like giving an opinion nobody asked for. Lmao. >u

I’ll be honest distortion isn’t even that great. Killers just happen to only run 1 aura perk so it counters it due to that perk needing a specific reason to reveal like hooking or gen disrupting or whatever. Meaning the survivor can just replenish stacks.
If you have multiple auras or an easy activation aura, distortion is useless. Like Pig’s aura add-on when she crouches? each crouch removes 1 stack and then distortion is gone.
People get carried way too much by 1 aura perk and it shows. Just run 4 aura perks to troll people🤝🏼
Actually I had a build with 3 aura perks and it countered every single one because it is absurdly easy to get more stacks. It isn’t a “great” perk only when if there is no aura reading, but if there is aura reading it is incredibly easy to use, with no drawbacks, and a ridiculously easy system to get back tokens.

I am often trying to take chase and (hear me out!) distortion helps me loop a lot of killers who are aura reliant (especially huntresses and blights) for a really long time (I’m also not a terrible looper)! I often run resilience and adrenaline - I promise I’m not hiding from the killer - I just think aura reading is a big advantage!
Cool, 1/10 players use distortion in chase, but guess what? 9/10 players play like wusses and leave their entire team to die because they just hide with distortion
