They really do their own stunts. They don't get injured constantly for no reason Muscle cars are a full fledged American thing. The Goal: 1)Go fast in a straight line 2) comfortable 3)affordable for the everyday man ---> Solution: Big engine, big power ---> Still too slow due to weight and bad aero? ----> Solution #2: Put a bigger mf in there ----> Send it. The idea is that at some point there's going to be so much power that it will negate the big weight and bad aerodynamics. The result is that it makes for some beautiful cars and some even more beautiful sounding noises. Perfectly embodies the American culture of excessive exuberance...which is unique and makes life a bit more fun.
The race with the Nissan Patrol was done in Dubai on their main highway, the SZR, they closed the road early in the morning so they could do it. In Dubai they love their fast cars they also did a race in Abu Dhabi where they closed the main highway. In the UAE they're happy to do such things.
another great reaction, regarding James and the Volvo, they were driving across a frozen lake when the ice opened underneath James's car and the car went in partially, much to everyone's amazement, James got the car running again, episode is question is called A Scandi Flick
Jeremy was 100% driving the amphib car, he’s the only with a power boat licence out of the 3 which was required to run in it Also you’re pretty spot on with the drift, once you boot it you then need to feather the accelerator to keep it going, but need a rear wheel driven car as that makes the back slide
This isn't a show where they have stunt doubles Everything happens for real. Hammond talked once about just the crashes he had over the years, it was like 15-20 crashes about 6 of those on camera.
14:05, not really, as long as the engine didn’t suck up any water (which it wouldn’t have as long as James tuned the engine off before it started sinking deeper) then as long as you make sure the intake manifold (the side of the engine that air travels through before going into the combustion process) is clear and dry then you should be able to start the car back up fine
The "high powered boat" was actually made from a 2 seater, 3 wheeled Sports, and I use that word very lightly, car called a Bond Bug. Years ago Bond (nothing to do with 007) were known for making small cheap 3 wheeled cars. It was later taken over by Relient, another 3 wheeler manufacturer.
Muscle cars are mostly associated with America... Typically V8 engined, rear wheel drive, 2-door cars. The Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Pontiac GTO, Chevy Camaro etc are all classic American muscle cars. Australia produced a few in the 1970s like the Ford Falcon and Holden Monaro, which are both featured in the original Mad Max movie. They never took off in a big way in Europe, partly due to higher fuel prices but also the lack of long, wide, straight and largely deserted highways like you get in the American West and Australian Outback, which is kind of the muscle car's natural environment. Places where you can really put your foot down and let the V8 do its thing...
Muscle cars are a very American thing. Elsewhere, if you want performance, you add power and reduce weight. Muscle cars ignore weight reduction and just go for more power. This is usually done with bigger and bigger engines, which add even more weight (sometimes you wonder whether the added power actually makes up for the added weight of the engine!). Plus, more weight makes the car worse at handling corners, which is why muscle cars are often said to be "only good in a straight line". And then the American muscle car manufacturers make even this harder, by not bothering to engineer the power to go to the wheels efficiently, and you get the burnouts (also a very American thing), where the wheels spin faster than they would to actually put the power down and move the car forward; like running on a threadmill without actually going anywhere... Basically, muscle cars are just over the top and a bit pointless. But very fun to watch! ;-) Donuts are done like you said but without the "just" part... Keeping the car going in circles, without loosing control of it, is a bit harder than that.
They don't have stunt doubles. Never have. Muscle cars are definitely an American thing. It started with Pontiac in the year 48 and quickly became a big hit especially with Mustang and Camaro. Now there are other "muscle" cars in Europe and in Australia, but usually the term is used only when referring to American V8 cars with a coupe style body.
'Is it just lock the wheel and accelerate?' No man, if it was then every guy would do it wouldn't they? ^^ It takes skill in feathering the throttle and steering - not many can do it well!
Top gear is trash, Grand Tour is where it's at. Top Gear it's kiddies training wheels Grand Tour controlled by what Nineteen Eighty-Four was trying to warn us about, basically. Also there's no situation where Clarkson and Hammond would let James May get away with being replaced by a stunt driver. If they need that they'd use something that looked like a Stig or some actual professional and they'd happily name them. "how does that not hit the ground" - ah the answer to that is in one of my favourite all time episodes of Top Gear - series 7, episode 3 where they took a bunch of supercars including Clarkson's own to the Millau Viaduct, spoiler: they do..
You need to watch the full clip of James May’s tunnel crash Connor.
Poor Diane

Which is fine until you encounter a corner, which they surely have some in Murica.
@@stevepage5813 Nope, no such thing. That’d be ridiculous! Get a hold of yourself 😲
@@stevepage5813 They DO have corners on American roads but only left handed ones.

The funny thing is Jeremy still has The Excellence.
Keep doing what you're doing Connor, if I wanted to watch videos without your commentary then that's what I'd do, the more the better!

You actually think Hammond was asleep in the car until halfway through a helicopter ride?

One day you should actually watch these shows and see everything in context.
I think you'd love watching "James May Reassembler" show.....He just OCDs his way through a strip down and rebuild of everyday(ish) items
When I was a kid I saw those same ferns in a Forrest and thought I was in Jurassic park aswell 😂

That Nissan patrol has an engine from a Nissan gtr and is on a Nissan gtr chassis as well as 3000bhp, about 3200whp
One of them did say vulva, intentionally, instead of Volvo.

'American muscle car' is a tautology - muscle cars are American.

Muricans think everything is fake. Probably because everything is, in good ol' US of A.
