How to fix / replace rear view reversing camera on Range Rover Evoque

- In this video we look at why the rear view camera has stopped working on our Range Rover Evoque. The car was not showing the reverse camera view when i selected reverse and there was an "camera system fault" error message on the speedo screen.
My 2016 Evoque just started that problem today before I head to work, I called the dealer and everything, but as soon as I got back from work, I kinda thought it’s better take a look on UA-cam before I go to the dealer .

For those of you with an early model which uses the 4 pin camera. As you know they’re hard to find and expensive. If you have 360 system, where there’s 5 cameras all together, 2 in front bumper, 2 in wing mirrors and 1 in boot lid. They are all the same camera. I have no interest in the 360, but I did miss not having a working reversing camera. So I just replaced the reversing camera with one from one of the wing mirrors. This time putting some sealant on to stop water getting in again.
Great video with easy to follow instructions ,our model the " HSE " had also an electrical box behind the inside " trim panel " that had 2 screws to undo before gaining access to the 3rd bolt that lets the outside trim panel come off but other than that simple enough as long as owners take their time ......... thank you very much ,

Thank you for the video which helped me remove the old (wet and rusted up) camera. Unfortunately, the new (same numbers) camera is not recognized by the car. I suppose reprogramming is required.
Excellent video, exactly what I was after. My partner has a 12 plate and the rear camera has gone foggy. I assume it just needs replacing. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for all your detailed videos!! My 2012 Pure Plus doesnt have the reversing camera.. what are the chances that the wiring is already set up and the camera connector is already there in the tailgate?? Like with the illuminated door sills, or other accesories not included in the build list. I guess (or i wish)the wiring loom is standard and one-of-a-type for all Evoques and accesories are put on demand…
We dont have a pure but pretty sure this is not present in the car unless it had the camera fitted.
PROGRAMING??? My 2014 Evoque camera worked but was foggy. I bought a used one ("6 pin in a row" version) but now its just giving me the Camera Error on the cluster! Does this need programming or not?...im getting mixed info on the comments on below...thanks
@powerfulukltd I wanted to check my reverse cam yesterday but I noticed that my Evoque from 2016 has a different cam holder than yours showed in the video. There is also a white holder with some kind of complicated clip which I can´t open to put the cam out the holding. Can you help me with this?

Hi. Thanks for sharing the video, fantastic and really helpful. The issue I have (5 camera plan view) is that only the near side door mirror camera seems to be working.. all others show a camera with a red cross in it. I can’t believe that 4 camera have failed at the same time, but rather there is a power issue (good old fuse) or a more complex issue with video management sub system ( I assume there is one somewhere). I hope someone can help, I don’t really want to have to buy/fit 4x new (expensive 6 pin) cameras- is there a common power supply / fuse for the cameras??? Any help really appreciated
Many thanks for video, mine is showing a ‘misted’ up display on dash. But the lines and audio still work.
I think thats a new camera.... water ingress into camera... its quite common i think.

I did this repair, but I had the 4-pin camera, it was a bit more expensive, plus they were hard to find.....
Very handy video. Just to add if you have the 4 pin camera and it’s fogged up but the electronics still work. It’s possible to pick up an identical camera but with 6 pin connector LR025912_1 for about £40 . Swap the 4 pin electronics out of the old camera into the new housing and use the new rubber seal and reassemble. Works a treat👍

I have a 2016 Range Rover Evoque and the camera just all of a sudden stop working and doesn't respond. I get a camera fault warning in the dash. Can you help?
Had the same issue with my 2016 Evoque, bad design fault (like most LR malfunctions) water ingress usually the culprit, mine started working again after using a hair dryer to dry it out, probably a temp fix, so will have to do something more permanent at some stage...

Good Morning,I’m writing you be half of my friend who own Evoque and having some difficulties with reverse camera,after seen your Video clip I think the problem with the connection with the camera but we haven’t open it yet to check the connection,meantime my mate got in touch with a person who does mobile diagnoses and he got it checked and came up with “VIM (Vehicle Immobilizer Control Module)( 1 DTC )”this and error code showing “B100D-73
Column lock authorization - Actuator stuck closed” so I’m confused now and can you please advice on this.Many thanks
This does seem an odd fault but if the car works and unlocks i would not worry too much
It’s not the beginning of boot loom issues is it? Had lots of issues with Jaguar XF sportbreak loom. When mine was still under warranty it had plenty of visits. On the first one they replaced camera and issues returned a week later, eventually loom was found to be faulty at the point the loom goes from tailgate to body.
Well the reverse camera stopped working again today .... so lets try new camera but as you say could be the boot loom !
Great video managed to get my old camera with same error out but still not working. So have been looking for a new one but has different 6 pin expensive type.
I've gone to JLR dealer and they advised the camera is not plug play and they will need to configure a new one if ordered.
Please advise, as JLR are asking for £440 to replace with new camera? Thanks
I had another look at this tonight and it may be the case that the cameras need coding - this makes it really expensive for what should be a £40 camera ! I will keep looking into this and see if we can work out a cheaper way.

Any ideas for a reverse camera which displays a Red X on the screen. When switch to 360degrees still get it for the rear view.

Dear friends please give me anadvice. After replacing the backup camera, does it still need to be reseted via obd scanner ?
I am not 100% sure on some cars it may be needed. If you email us your chassis number we can check the camera compatibility
Any help on camera screen my 2013 back camera flashes on off image with Red Cross, it’s a 4 pin as checked; would it be a faulty camera or cables ? On/off message on screen says parking assist unavailable; any help I’d be grateful, thanks
This could be tricky to diagnose - really need to start by fault code reading to see it there are any issues with sensors / camera / module etc
@@L663 many thanks for your reply, noticed another video that showed same camera off (driver side) which caused back camera to flash on/off when first switched on. Looked for video on how to remove camera from wing mirror to try; the 4 pin ones seem to be the most expensive.

I dont think the wires are there on base models.

Hi, thanks a lot for your video. I replaced the old Kamera with a original one but is not working. If the new camera is connected the hole Radio do not work. The display do not start. Ich I replace again with the old defect one, the display works but the Camera not. Do you know what can be the problem with the new camera?
This is strange - it must be an issue with the new camera. Did you buy the camera from us ?
No, I didn't know you sell camera. I buyed a original camera on ebay and a not originally camera. Both make the same issues. Were can I buy it online from you?

Hi - i am not sure on this one... i am guessing not as the cables / connectors for the camera would add some cost ( more than some other less complex components like door lights etc )... damn you for mentioning cake... now i am hungry !

Yes this can happen you will need to dry the camera out and see if you can re-seal it.

I have followed same process 3 times but when I replace earlier with damaged lens. It’s exactly same but it doesn’t show any camera system fault.
Hi - I think the camera may need setting up with Land Rover software - i will check and make a video. This is not good as Land Rover are making it hard for people to fix the car themselves

I have a 2017 evoque. I took the camera out and its different from yours. These are the codes on the camera itself. 892006, C856112010082527. The camera plugs in from the bottom and has 6 prongs. Do you know the Land Rover part and can I purchase it from your company? Thank you
You just connected the old one and put the new one in the box

Hi - this is a new one to me but looking online it certainly seems to happen !
Are your yellow image lines the correct way?
I think this is a software bug - only thing to try is disconnect the battery - leave 10 mins and reconnect !
@@L663 yes yellow lines correct. I removed thr camera hoping to rotate it but shape and fixings don't allow.
@@DavidSmith-hy6fc I would try the battery disconnect - its the only way i can think of doing a reset of the image system - other than that it could be dealer refresh the software on the image module ?
@@L663 Is it OK to disconnect the battery, I've always thought it could damage electronics. Please advise
@@DavidSmith-hy6fc It should be OK - just need to disconnect the -ve terminal - leave it for 10 mins and reconnect.
It has a very very small risk of causing a problem but its worth a try. I do it all the time and never had an issue.

good idea.... or are they decoy bins... my wife has commented i should remove the bins as they dont look processional in the videos... the joys of lock down ! We are open but i am working from home and i cant really do a video with the lads from work while keeping a 2M distance....I can image RR thefts are down at the moment as most people are home with their keys safe and the police are out and about.
Does fixing this take away the dashboard error? RR want £180 just to actually look at it. 🤣
