Hi Mazzie, after my hubby watched your video , he told me you have the same family name as myself SCANLON my granddads brother is also called Tom , and the family originates from the Republic of Ireland, my Granddad is called Patrick Godfrey Scanlon, I know that my dads cousin called Margaret has done the family tree on friends reunited .

If I win the lottery I would love to find my family history. My dad only found out he was adopted in his 40s. Both of his parents died in the second world war few months after he was born.
Such a lovely tour of the town and also interesting, if somewhat sad, stories of your family. I find family histories to be one of my favorite pastimes. All the mystery and different stories to find out about, are almost as delicious as a good detective story. So sad your grt. granddad died at 30. I can so relate to that, as my own dad died at 29, leaving my mother with 5 small children under the age of 8. I was the youngest along, with my twin sister, and we were just 1 year old when he died. We were poor and it made things very difficult for my mom and us. Time passed tho and we are all now grown with kids and even grandkids of our own, so those days can now be looked back upon with fond memories. Life can be a struggle, but at the same time be a happy one, if you can do it with those you love. I think this trip down memory lane is the nicest birthday present ever, and I thank you both for sharing it with us.
