Hooray!.. finally in the water. Glad to see your hard work paying off. Congratulations. I thank you very much for doing these videos you have taught me so much about boats and giving me a sense of how much time and money goes in to these things. I have a project of my own (1989 Startcraft Medalist 1700) and it may be a good while before I do a total restoration now that i seen your videos. Thanks again can't wait till your out on the water and fully enjoy your hard work.
thanks for sharing and teaching or showing us the how too, also sharing our family with us. I am also excited for you to get this on the water for some play time, it is well deserved exciting times ahead congrats, can't wait for more vids
great video.Thank you for all the advise. One question though: why not pod the boat while you were at it and forget the leg and go to an outboard. Thats what we do here in the north west
Thank you for great video. Do you have any input as to why mine was working perfectly fine , next day I went to check it before leaving to ramp and it is completely dead,. It acts like there is no power to it. Thank you in advance for your time.
i like watching your projects better than my own , please tell me after you get done you will keep one of the polaris skis and have a project im addicted to the jarrets
I'm assuming the Bravo and Alpha one drives are similar when saying this, but I don't recall you mentioning to check engine alignment. That's probably the most important thing if you don't want your coupler damaged or have premature wear.
Is it not true that the exhaust goes thru the outdrive? Will the boat sink if you remove the IO engine with the outdrive still attached. Can water get in thru the outdrive and sink the boat without the engine installed. thanks for the reply.
Out of curiosity, if you dont mind, how much was your grand total? Like the work by the way. My dad and i are going to restore his old Mckee Craft and watched your videos as a kind of inspiriration i guess. Kinda just got sucked in...
I think the videos are very good and informative. However, there are a few things you didn't mention that I think should have been addressed. The upper steering pin bushing. Replace it or not? You also didn't mention the importance of making sure the bolt on the steering arm is torqued enough to clamp firmly onto the steering pin. If the bolt and nut are replaced, it should be with nothing less than grade #8. It would have been nice if you gave us more info about the black enamel you used for the finish. I did the same project on my Bravo except I blasted it down to bare metal.I replaced the smaller upper steering pin bushing, but it's not easy to remove the old one. I painted everything with Rustoleum. I used their primer for aluminum, but not the self etching. I didn't think it was necessary due to the blasting I did. It turns out the finish chips off with the slightest tap of a wrench! The primer seems to be very brittle. Everything was as clean as it could be before I painted. I'm no expert. Everything in the course of the rebuild was seat of my pants, but it worked out well. You're videos were very helpful!
Would you launch a boat with a 2wd 1500? I'm looking st buying a 21' boat. But I only have a 2wd 1500. I notice everyone has 4WD trucks when they launch boats. I don't wanna be one of the Internet pictures with my new 2016 Silverado in the drink lol
I will just tell you a story...Several years ago. I had just gotten my second boat. I then gave the first boat I had to my Cousin. He owned a 94 F250 with a first gen Powerstroke. It was an Extended Cab Long Bed. But it was only 2 wheel drive. He got stuck in a low angle boat launch that was lined with concrete. But his rear wheels were in the water and the trailer dropped off the concrete lining. He was just plain STUCK. I owned an 89 S10 Blazer at the time but it had good 4 wheel drive. He and I spent the better part of an hour getting his truck and trailer out. Because I might have had 4 wheel drive but an F250 is a lot bigger than a blazer. Finally it came out. But there were a lot of pissed off people that wanted to launch their boats and a few people that were pissed off because they were ready to leave the lake. Of course non of them wanted to help though... I always tell people if you want a watercraft of ANY kind...Make sure you at least have All Wheel Drive...4 Wheel Drive is better yet..
I'm launched boats with front wheel drive Honda Minivan and 1 wheel drive Dodge van, just have to be smart about how far in you go, and is the launch ramp slippery from algae
I also launch my boat with a minivan a Chrysler town and country and its 2wd you just have to go at a angle going up so it can get better traction on the tires
some say 2011 was hotter than 1980 but i consider 1980 hotter because in 1980 there were more day above 110 deg and i remember 1980 and it was worse than 2011 in my opinion
porfabor me gusta pescar y kiero pasiar a mis nietos soy de bajos recursos pero lo kiero areglar grasias si ay algien k me de un consejo dios los bendiga el es bueno
He just finished redoing a boat with a corsa exhaust. I think he's kind of interested in where his exhaust is sitting relative to the water. It's kind of important
Just a little correction. This is Irrelevant but you pointed at starboard as left and port as right in the outdrive Hydraulics. That’s backwards it’s the opposite.

You have a great dad and you guys are doing a nice job. Good luck with everything!

I lived in Dallas during that heatwave...out of my 30 yrs in Dallas that one is literally seared into my memory. It was ungodly 🔥
Great video. Would have been nice to show how you calibrate the trim meter too!
great video.Thank you for all the advise. One question though: why not pod the boat while you were at it and forget the leg and go to an outboard. Thats what we do here in the north west
225 for the pair shipped I think. They are aftermarket from Stern drive engineering.
I know this is old but who did you have work on the genset?I have one that might need a rebuild

hi love your videos. i didn't see you grease the outdrive spline.
@bone1050
I always have to have a project. I will just be video taping them now.

Hey how many feet were the two rolls of fiberglass that you bought and how much were they if i could know thank you
I like to discard the IO engine and use outboard engines without removing the outdrive. will use the same wheel steering to steer the boat.

Hottest recorded temperature in Texas was 120 in Seymour August 1936 and Monahans June 1994.

BravoX1D looks like he knows what he's doing for sure ..he didn't mention setting trim senders for trim limit..or trim gauge but I'm sure he did it..
Wish I would have seen the alignment!
FINGERS!!! lol.
That drive looks great!
What did u do with the epic outdrive u were going 2 use with the point on it?
Thanx
Mark Rencic I sold it to a guy in AZ. Still using it today.
