Is fast charging really better or worse for your batteries? I was told it was bad and yet will make your batteries wear out way faster and batteries are very very expensive. The same as my bike batteries. You can plug in the bluetti solar panels to this. They are very expensive and very efficient I don't know how efficient these ones are you did not show
I have the river max. It ran my full size refrigerator for 1.5 hours during a power outage. The display said it could run it for another 3 hours. The x-boost got the fridge running. I am very happy with the River Max.
Thank you very much for the review. The UPS function makes it even better. So far I might get one without extra battery. Then I might buy the extra battery later when I plan on roadtripping. I wish it could take more solar though.
Great video. I just got a 200 watt allpowers solar panel to go with mine. It comes with standard mc4 connectors so it plugs rite into the mc4 connectors that are on the xt60 solar charging wire so there’s no adapter necessary..
Just ordered mine. Did an extensive comparison with the far cheaper Jackery’s but still went for this based on high review scores, how fast it charges on hook up (1 hour to 100% compared to 8 hours on equivalent Jackery!!) 3-6 hours to fully charge using their their solar panels (which are also better performance wise than the Jackery’s) Bit of an investment but I just think it is worth it. Just way ahead of the pack.
That light strip is pretty unique for a power station and it changes color. Forgive me but that's the first time I have seen a good looking power station like the River Max.
Well I ordered the eb55 bluetti and I may return it but the batteries in the bluetti will last way longer I'm not sure if it's worth it or not but I'm a trade it for this it's cheaper with two panels 899 I paid 970 for the bluetti package with a 200 W solar panel
The x-boost feature is very useful for running power tools that have a high startup current. Something like a drill or angle grinder will not be negatively affected by low voltage during the spin-up. In effect it provides a soft start. The tool will be slower to come up to speed, but once it's running it should work normally provided the tool is rated 5 amps or less. I agree it should be turned off for more sensitive devices.
I mean technically yes. But they’re all things that are unique to the Ecoflow. For example anything you can do on a Jackery you can also do on an EF without the app.
@@aaronstestlab Oh ok I see. Thank you. I think for a smaller power bank, I will go a different route. ☺️However, I may get the Delta Pro when it comes out. Do you think you will be reviewing that one? I am curious if we will have access to ALL of the features. Wether we download the app or not. Especially if that kind of money is being spent. Thanks again.
Agreed, got my self a ecoflow river for a month now . Love it but your right X -boost is a bad name. It should be called something like shutdown prevention. It can be useful in case where a machine sometimes draws some more power like a motor during start up or a heater element switching on. The devices will be weaker because of the lower voltage but at least they are still functioning. Other powerstations just shutdown and the device stop working. It increase the number of devices that will work with it so it's useful just not a magic bullet.
Stupid question, but can it safely power a normal UK kitchen kettle? Or a toaster? I’m installing a 12V camp fridge, will be powering string fairy lights off it at night, recharging usb camp lights, my iphone, a small bluetooth speaker and possibly recharging my laptop if I bring it with me. But a kettle is pretty critical camp kit for me!!! Also, can you run a multi socket extension lead off it? Ideally want it stowed under my rock/roll bed, with an extension cable running out into the camper, but know this can be a no no.
Depends, probably yes but could be that moment xboost drop the voltage the Relay keeping it on till it's boiling releases , I bought a camping kettle 230vAC 600w was not to expensive works perfectly. Don't buy 12 v kettles it takes way to long on 140watt talking +30min a Spiral cup heater on 12v is fine
Thx Aaron! Well put... shame with the x-boost verdict, but for me that won't be big issue I think. Now I just need to decide on a Max or the Pro... the solar panel will be from EcoFlow for sure.
Tough call, I like the Max's modular design to maximize portability, however, the Pro would likely give better performance at high discharge. Price per watt-hour is identical.
the thing that really sold me was when you did the tv test! i wish you would have tried a pc but tv should be close enough! ive been looking for a upc for my pc and they are upwards of 400-500$ for what i need and this is on sale for 550 which is perfect for having camping aswell as a upc. anyways cheers!
Battries die after a certain number of cycles. Where and how does one find and replace new battaries. I'm not talking about the extra battery for longer battery range. Thanks...
Do you have any idea what the display symbol to the left of the outlet and 60Hz symbols means? I think it may represent that an extra battery pack is attached the the regular River but find nothing on it anywhere. Not sure what the symbol is supposed to look like which would be a clue too?
Hi Aaron, may I ask if this device can be use for a travel trailer to keep the fridge on for weeks . The travel trailer is in a storage without power and the main reason is to maintain the fridge on.
I doubt it. Assuming two weeks and a constant draw, the ac would only be able to draw something like 1.25 watts. I'm guessing it actually needs alot more than that.
Have problem with river max. If i charge it to 100% and then discharge it to zero it is no problem. But if i use it in interval like 100%-40%-100%-60% etc. and after try to discharge to zero, when it is around 20-30% it start discharge so fast in 1-2 minutes with effort 70-100 watts. If you know what it is help me plz
how is using xboost dangerous pls - as in will it start a fire? explode? i’m very worried now also what about linking two together with a parallel cable - is that safe and will it work with all eco flows
Wow, this seems like an excellent power station....I have the Jackery 300 in my cart, and have just been wanting to make sure I am getting the right option for me....I was just about to change my mind on jackery and put THIS one in my cart and purchasing...until at the end you mention that one HAS to use an app and all this crap to USE the unit....That puts me out of the game. I really dislike that companies force people to do this. Bummer. Great review and I'm really thankful you mentioned that. I would have been NOT happy to find this out AFTER i received it. Daaannnnngggggg......
I wouldn't let that dissuade you. It's really a great product. All basic functions can be controlled without the app. Truth being told, once I used it to disable x-boost I never used it again.

Pretty smart design for a power station, It only takes 4 screws to detach the extra battery of the River Max. Sweet!
