Ronald I feel the same way, but your videos are in a similar category too, how about both of you stop making my videos looks bad. I could just learn to edit better, and actually shoot B roll and good content, but I prefer you all to lower to my bar ;)
I absolutely love your photography, and the way you animate everything. It must add so much time to your production, but please know that this is absolutely beautiful, unique, and a real pleasure to watch. Keep it up!
God I love these episodes. Is it art?, is it mechanics?, is it engineering?. Not sure, and I don't care. You're a bloody genius, man. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Concur. Definitely all of the above. We are all friggin so lucky. I started around episode 40 or so; and had to just binge watch from the beginning. WORTH IT.
i honestly don't understand how you only have a little over 100 k subs. by far the most easy and fun channel to watch on UA-cam. look forward to every upload. good job mate from Australia
Very nice episode George :) I believe every word when you say 23 minutes of content takes forever... because you have higher production standards than most multi billion dollar TV networks AND you're the writer, actor, director, gaffer, habadasher, runner, camera and lighting crew, sound wizard, and editor.
I hadn't heard of your channel before. A friend sent it to me because he thought I might be impressed by the stop motion. Boy, was he right! This was an awesome video.
THANK YOU for bringing up the topic of wearing a respirator while welding. I do the same. I also work in pulmonology research, and let me tell you, one does not want breathe welding fumes. They're essentially vaporized metal that gets very deep into your lungs. Lastly, this was a triumph of an episode. A real treasure, and worth the wait! Keep up the good work, mate.
I don't know where you get the energy, mentally and physically to keep going, and then to record, edit and add cool tunes to make these videos. Absolute respect to you!
THE Most watchable twenty-three minutes in all of UA-cam. Why do I feel so upbeat about watching you do chassis restoration for the better part of half an hour? I can't pinpoint it, but you manage it every damn time. You're nailing it!
Love the audio mix between working on the car and background music, it's tasteful and done so right. Also really appreciate how real your videos are, how you don't hide the setbacks and even flubs. Makes it very relatable.
Just beautiful. Watching that hole appear on the chassis piece is pure art! And it’s genuine motivation to keep going on my restoration project when it all seems too much. One step at a time is the message - loud and clear. Thanks George.
I’ve spent all day watching all the Lotus videos and didn’t do any work. Love the level of craft you bring - it’s real DIY as you do and learn and do again. Btw.. it’s a little late now, but you should use weld through primer.. comes in copper or zinc. Prime your pieces before welding and you don’t need to grind to bare metal when you weld.
WOW!!! I have SO much respect for your work! Your commitment and patience is an inspiration. Can’t believe I haven’t found you until now, but so glad I did! 🙏🏼
man, i want more content. i swear. i could watch a solid 2 hours of these. its just so relaxing and honestly informative just watching the process like this. now most of youtube car video's for restoring are just IN YOUR FACE loud music in the background and still fun to watch dont get me wrong... but this... this is just damn good
The master is back! Ronnie has it right, you make most other UA-camrs look pretty lax about the quality of their videos (except him!). Artistry and engineering in perfect harmony - that's the Soup we know and love. Welcome back George.
As someone who studied mechanical engineering I love these videos. I am working on a Lotus Excel from 1988 but definitely not into this much detail. Respect.
George, this is my favorite series to watch. Been waiting patiently for this episode and it didn't disappoint :) Thanks for the awesome work, keep 'em coming
It wouldn't surprise me to learn that for every minute of video completed George spent an entire week of hard work in production. This is some seriously awesome content here. Kudos, George!
Every days labour requires at least 2 hours of post production, then when the restoration work is done and there's enough footage, yeah there's a good working week of editing to finish an episode.
@@bradcrossman5068 let them know your love of proper motor sports but not your secrets of butter, birth place of Ginger Ale and the best liquor depot between America and the rest of the pirate provinces
First time viewer and subbed by the time you started to repair the bottom of the chassis. Amazing production talent that must take you an ordainment amount of time but that is art and you are an extraordinary artist. Well here I go (excitedly) down another rabbit hole....now back to your video.
Another masterclass in video making. Even if the viewer is not into cars(!) the quality of the photography makes this channel a "must see". Brilliant work George. Well worth the wait. I don't know about the Albert Hall but at least we know how many holes it takes to fill a Lotus chassis.
When it's finaly time for a new vid and expectación are high buy you now that after 23min you want more... can't wait for the next one... Great work...
The dedication to repairing the frame as was manufactured is commendable. A fully custom made box section steel trellis retrofit would have been just as epic also.
I thought you were doing some great work with the W123…. You are going above and beyond with the Lotus! Nice job, still my favorite channel hands down.
I've just finished restoring a wooden cabinet by removing at least 3/4 of the original wood and wishing that I'd just started from scratch. The chassis reminds me of that project for some reason :D Loving your videos, keep up the great work.
I scoffed at the idea of building from scratch, back at the start, and yeah maybe it wouldn't have been much more work, but it would have been far more difficult to get right and in the end I wouldn't have the original chassis.
It survived fairly well with thin factory paint and the odd slosh of some sort of rust prevention on the inside, so hoping what I'm doing will outlast me.
excellent content and the stop capture video is awsome i watch a lot of restoration and mechanical videos, and i can say without a doubt your content and the way you shoot your videos and attention to detail you provide is the best i have seen on youtube. keep up the great work we really appreciate it.
Thank you for this video! I’m amazed by a couple of Lotus things. One is how amazing the engineering is and the other is how frail they are. They almost seem cheaply made but I know that’s it’s to be lightweight. They seem just cobbled together!
I’m sure others will know the Colin Chapman design philosophy of ‘make it as light as you can then subtract strength/weight until it breaks……and add just a little bit back”…..hence the ‘rolling experiment’ feel of his wonderfully delicate & elegant designs
I think the trick is to separate the design from the build quality. Not that they were badly made, just a bit scruffy in places, which helps me hide the scruffier job I can muster ;)
as a welder myself im glad your wearing a respirator. nerve damage from that smoke is a real thing. that being said. i hope you have at least fresh air coming it or that stale air being pulled out. that air can still dissipate into the air and still cause damages to ones self
Such the entertainer, I was half expecting you to twirl about like Leatherface with that sawzall after dismembering that pile of plastic flotsam and jetsam. You had me so entranced that I completely forgot about my moussaka cooling on the counter! Fantastic as always brother
Dude, your attention to detail on something that will eventually be covered up and nobody will see is astounding. Another great video. Always look forward to your videos. Keep on keeping on!
The respirator is a GREAT suggestion when welding - so is a GUARD when using a cut-off wheel - ever seen one 'explode'? It is a also GREAT idea to use a guard on the cut-off wheel - better to be safe than sorry. GREAT video as usual - in my opinion - the 'GOLD STANDARD' of restoration videos. This is probably the most unique car restoration channel on UA-cam, keep up the good work
It's the only channel where you will see a guy spending 20 episodes repairing a bent hole. And disassembling the welded body mounts 3 times
Only you and Project Binky are allowed to take this long between episodes! As always, worth the wait.
Glad!

It scares me. In fact so much of car restoration is hazardous, and hard on the body. All about safety and preventative measures these days.
I don't know where you get the energy, mentally and physically to keep going, and then to record, edit and add cool tunes to make these videos. Absolute respect to you!
