Incorrect. The Sweedish/Nordic model is based off of a singular perspective that purports to speak for all women, defining their lives and realities for them. While not technically "illegal", when your clients obtained through more 'above board' methods are arrested, it serves an enticement to in fact engage in riskier behavior in order to make money. So by that logic, it's okay to deny transparency and legal protections because feminist ideology says 'the big bad evil menz' have brainwashed 'the weak minded womenz' , thus creating a feedback loop. +Ruf The brothels should also be owner operated, and limited to a number of operators per owner/partner. The brothels should also be required to cooperate and even partially pay for social workers to ensure no coercion or manipulation is occuring and to offer a way out for those who desires one.
It's legal here in Australia although the specifics such as advertising vary between the states. It's mostly safe and above board but there's always dodgy workers and bosses
German way = best way. At least there is one case where this claim is actually true. Prostitution is legal here and prostitutes have to pay taxes. There is no reason why adults should be treated like little children.
This all the way. I don't know why a system that would refuse to believe it's own workforce is said to be the greatest, when almost ALL of the downsides to sex work can be removed just by legalizing the profession. I get that you don't want to seem biased or "anger the puritans", mojo, but when things are working out so well for Germany why would the system that's accused of treating it's inhabitants like children be considered the best?
That model holds up well in Germany, since it's an already well structured society, with opportunities for young people and a well educated population. If you were to apply such model in underdeveloped countries, where there aren't nearly as many opportunities for jobs, official institutions don't work efficiently to regulate, control and implement taxes in it, and most importantly, lots if not most people are ignorant, the result would be that the model brings more problems: lots of more girls wouldn't even bother to try to study and learn a profession (increasing the ignorance and poverty), there would still be lots of illegal practices (to try to do it out of the system to try to avoid paying taxes, old habits...) and quite possibly multiplying STDs and yet more pregnancies (did I mention ignorant people in poor countries?). A well educated society vs a mostly ignorant one makes a world of difference.
only if ya get caught ..... not saying ive done that cause that would be really wrong Im just saying that is the only possible way pussy would ever be free as free as it gets unless you get caught... just playing devils advocate
+8th wonder of the world While trying to insult you named a good point for the pro legalisation site. If sex can be bought freely, the numbers of sex-crime will decline.
MKu MKu that has to be the dumbest thing i have ever read. if someone is willing to break the law and rape why wouldn't they be willing to break the law and buy a prostitute.
8th wonder of the world Maybe my phrasing was misleading. My point is: If bying sexual services becomes legal and considered equal to bying cooking services (e.g. in a restaurant) then there are people who will never reach the point where they rape someone.
please tell me the difference between a guy meeting a girl in a club or bar and finding her sexually attractive even though he knows he will not be marrying her and then buying her things, paying to get her car fixed etc and just simply paying her for sex? To me honestly if he is just paying her for sex it is more honest. In the former scenario she could get the impression that he lives her. This actually works both ways. If she's just in it to have her car fixed or whatever but acts friendly and has sex with him, he might get the impression that she loves him. So either make prostitution legal or better yet just tell the government to stay out of our business, OR make it illegal to have sex with anyone unless you are married to them.
I agree with you they should legalize prostitution about sexy pretty woman in the united states'of America and also sex it's a beautiful healthy thing but you need to remember to use safety condoms first of all woman and man they like sex it's a normal thing and your definitely right about the governor he should stay out this prostitution problem
The problem is that it just makes us think that we can own somebody's body maybe only for a night but still when a person pays for a service that person tries to get the best possible experience which may include abusive behavior, and even tho prostitutes are ready for sex they'll definitely not be ready for violence or gore
I think it should be legalized. Any illegal activity is highly unsafe by virtue of being illegal. It would allow people place some faith in the legal system. Safety standards for the workers can be initiated and enforced, and it can curtail a great deal of the inherent danger.
Legalize it, require a license to pratice it (which should also include a condition for regular medical exams), tax the income (like any other job), provide unbiased help for those that want out, and finally protection under the law like any other business.
The point is that the joke was stolen, and the performer wasn't given a mention. It had little to do with the topic, and was a sad attempt to get up votes.
Legalize brothels with security in-house. Monitor workers, and have panic buttons as well as video security in every room. If Johns don't like video security, screw 'em.
That's stupid. If it were legal then all the issues with it (such as crime) would all go away. Just like with drugs. If someone had an issue they could use the legal system, call the cops, etc...
There are some flaws to the claims here. The high danger rate, for example, is not seen as inherent to prostitution itself, but to its being criminalized. Also, the Swedish model has much more serious flaws than this video indicates; social workers, for example, deny help to sex workers who do not express a desire to leave, even refusing to provide condoms for preventing HIV and other STIs. There are also serious questions about how the Swedish government sells its legal scheme, even that they have omitted or distorted statistics. New Zealand, on the other hand, decriminalized consensual sex work in 2003, and found greater overall health and safety for sex workers, including better interactions with police to deal with violence.
@@deajaysteier9532 So you'd rather pay the bill when they end up in the emergency room along with all the others they spread the infection too. You're paying for it one way or another so you might as well take the cheaper option.
And just to clarify I'm not against prostitution I think it should be fully legal anything that happens between 2 or more consenting adults is no business of the governments
As a libertarian I believe in the doctrine of free will and the non agression pact so as long as it's not harming others it's none of the governments business
Except of course their customers are afraid of arrest so the prostitute still has to hide from the police for the sake of the customers so its at least as dangerous as ever.
I've been to Oslo a Friday night, and there are plenty of street prostitutes in the "main street" between the central train station and the parliament. They are practically chasing after drunk men and doing so legally. However, the worst experience I've had with prostitutes was in Copenhagen when i'd just left a 7-Eleven with my hands full aiming for my hotel. I walk around the corner and this woman asks me if I wanted a good time. I answered no, yet she started following me. Asking me why I was in such a hurry. I tried everything. I told her I'm not interested, I don't have cash, I'm asexual, but she kept following. She then grabbed my crotch and said she could tell I was horny, but this was right outside my hotel door and the receptionist was giving her quite a mean look and she walked away. She literally followed me from 7-eleven to the hotel door. Still don't get why she didn't give up. Is there really someone who's said no 10 times, but then she grabs their "family jewels" and they change their mind?

70+ prostituted women murdered in Germany since legalization. 50+ attempted murders. Most killers are johns. Sound safe? (Source: sexindustry-kills.de/doku.php?id=prostitutionmurders:de )
Prostitution is only dangerous when you make it illegal. If you regulate it, provide a safe building, security, proper and stable pay along with healthcare and such things then there is no danger. Not for the buyer, the seller or society. Hell society could benefit from it since if regulations were in place they'd have to pay taxes too :)
that's not true, anytime a man chooses to pay for sex he will feel entitle to be abusive since he spent his hard earned money.... mixing money with sex is always a dangerous gamble, legal or not.
MISTER Right That's why i also said security. They have it like that in Australia and it works pretty well over there. Drunk idiots don't get entry, safety measures are put in place to make sure the guy is clean and healthy and then a deal is made in a secure location about the costs and if the guy starts doing something the lady does not like security will enter within seconds :)
+MISTER Right False. This is a very lopsided, biased, and generalized view of men based on absolutely no fact. Men, pay for sex all the time, they just rarely hand money directly over for it.
Proud to be Swedish. Not perfect no but at least it allows people who are in need of help to get the help they need. Without having to worry about being punished for needing medical attention.
WatchMojo really didn't bother to do research at all on this topic. If they did they would know that Prostitution is 100% legal and regulated here in Australia and it's a very safe profession. Everyone is happy it.
I think they should just help making it a safer more legal thing by laying down some solid foundation and some actual laws and conditions to be met such as having cleaner places for the thing to happen where it's supervised and all men are forced to wear condoms and the whole thing is made cleaner and less underground cuz like it or not prostitution will never go away as both ends need it
I'm surprised you didn't mention Las Vegas. I heard, from a second hand source, mind, that the sex traffic industry became even stronger in Las Vegas since prostitution was legalized. So, if that's true, then legalizing it could make things worse. Like I said, it was a second hand source, and even the media doesn't seem to be held responsible for falsified information anymore, so take that with a grain of salt.
Prostitution is illegal in Vegas, It is legal in Nevada though. Vegas is a family destination so the cops try and keep it out of town. There is no shortage of whores in Vegas, you have to be discreet, just ask a cabby, bellhop, or bartender.

"It's legal in NZ. First country in the world to legalise it" ___ Obviously New Zealand is NOT the first country in the world to legalize prostitution. There are documented examples of legal prostitution nearly 3000 years before New Zealand became a country.
Fell Man- (Regulate) Public Health concerns. Plus, why should they not have to pay taxes like EVERYBODY ELSE. Because they suck cock for a living??? Wake the fuck up.
Being imprisoned probably hurts women more than any pimps. They can't even earn money in prison, it takes mothers away from kids, and it makes them less employable (so it takes hookers and actually does stuff to them that makes them less likely to better their lives and become something else). It's just not the answer. Pimps would not be able to exploit girls if they could go to the police about being attacked or go to court if they were being stolen from or cheated out of their wages.
The problem with prostitution is not prostitution itself. The problems are that the women may feel their economic situation requires them to be prostitutes, the women may be physically, chemically and or emotionally coerced into prostitution, they may be trafficked, and they would have limited access to legal security hence are more vulnerable to crimes. These are actually problems with many forms of employment though prostitution through being criminalized and culturally stigmatized, are more vulnerable to these problems. The legalization of prostitution would allow us to better survey the problem and hopefully regulate some of them away but in general we need to address the problems regardless of whether they are with prostitution, hotel workers, restaurant workers, or oilfield workers. Anyone who feels they must work for a living and have precarious employment are in fact slaves. What we need are Universal Basic Income, decriminalization perhaps legalization and greater social work outreach perhaps even universal outreach to prevent sitmatization and marginalization of means tested benefits and services. As to sexually transmitted diseases, how about we test everyone once a year. The truth is that there is no one test for all STD's and some such as Herpes are so common in the population that it would be uncommon not to have it to begin with, the CDC actually does not recommend Herpes testing on a STD screen simply because they expect it to be prevalent. Of course regular tests for STD's that can have serious outcomes makes sense if the tests are sufficiently non-invasive but there is no need to stigmatize prostitutes, after all it takes two to tangle. Note, weekly or daily HIV tests are a bit overzealous as it could be months after infection before it's detectable.

Honestly such acts or so called ''jobs'' strip clubs -pornography- prostitution......etc. Should be banned and stopped , not only it has huge and dangerous negative impacts , but it also ruins the honor and life of those who works in it , but it ruins the life of many people who follows them. I once wrote a negative review about an escort on a major website. She hired somebody to find out MY personal information, like my address, in order to force me to take it down. She also wanted me to pay her back for the money she paid the hacker. I didn't want to do it. The address she had was an old one, so I wasn't really worried. However, I just wanted the fool to leave me alone. I removed the review, and I gave her less than half of what she demanded. The sad thing is, I didn't have the guts back then to tell an unhappy service woman to F*CK OFF!! Not only did I have the right to post my opinion about terrible service, but she didn't have to try to force me to take down the review. All she had to do was contact the site herself, and the company would have removed the review. That dumb woman spend hundreds of dollars for something that she could have handled for free. I am much more assertive about my escort endeavors now. >:-(
Simple mortality rate second reason is most of them aren't actually consenting most of them are human trafficking victims stolen from there country and there identity is stolen
Aces and Spades Entertainment Exactly, legalize and regulate and we can save a good percentage of human trafficking victims from lifelong slavery, drug addiction and violent crime. The only reason it is not legalized, is religious moral influence on our politics and laws. I believe the problem will be solved as our millennials get older and take more political seats within the government. Religious morality will still be an issue, but I believe our millennials will be more accepting and tolerant of other people's freedom's and beliefs on the matter.
I never personally liked the idea of paid sex (but hey to each their own), but for some reason I think paid "company" is a cool concept, probably because they're already doing it legally. There's a company in Japan that is nothing but attractive, well-educated men whom women can hire just to hang out with them. They converse at cafes and really just look good together while talking. That's it, that's all they do, and they're *astronomically* expensive, making me think those guys must be smooth talkers. It's basically psychotherapy, since it's nothing but hiring someone to be your friend and converse with skill with you for a time.
Define pay. Since the hunters were usually not the cooks, you could see it as getting pay when they got foor prepared for them. More of a service exchange than actual commodities.
There is a very old saying about prostitution. "Why is it illegal to sell something that is perfectly legal to give away?" The only crime that a prostitute commits is the act of SELLING sex, because if she would just have sex with a guy there is no crime.
"Fun" fact, prostitution is perfectly legal in germany and is considerd a fee based service by the law. Also there are special laws to ensure that prostitutes won't be exploited or forced.
I had an ex girlfriend who would not leave me alone. She kept asking me for money, a loan. I kept saying no because i knew she would never pay me back. To get her to finally leave me alone I thought I would say something outrageous. The next time she asked me for money, I replied "ok, but i want sex for it. She screamed "im not a prostitute!" I countered: "well im not a bank or an ATM!" She hung up. A few days later, she called me and accepted my offer. Go figure.
Every single bad and evil that comes from prostitution and drugs derive from them being illegal. These laws only drive away the humane nature of humans. It all boils down to someone with a holier than thou attitude writing and enforcing these deliberately writing injunctions that nobody has the right to tell anyone what they can and can't do with their own person.I get so damn mad when I think about a politician telling me what I can and can't do with my own body it makes me rant without regaurd for proper grammar.
Whats even more fucked up is that its perfectly legal in more western countries to hack of the foreskins of a male infant simply because the infant is male. Females are protected. Its almost as if society doesn't give a shit about men......
As far as circumcission goes, blame that one on the church and soccer moms in america. They made a majority of people believe that a circumcised male is unable to jerk off. Thats what started the trend over there. Not really much of that going round europe though for some reason or another.
machida58 Fundamentalism and ignorance destroy everything. There is a reason why less educated people tend to be more radical. Dont blame the symptoms when the dissease is still as rampant as ever. why is the high murder rate an argument against legalisation? surely legalising it would allow them to call the police without fear of reprisal?

It'll never go away, so we might as well find a way to control it.
I say make brothels leagal and supervised by competent officials. This could help reduce street workers.
They are legal in Nevada
I like your idea but in places like Nevada that can sometimes screw with independent contractors that are very classy get their selfs jacked up and have beautiful websites and beautiful places to meet clients were only meet them at good hotels and the client must fill out paperwork before hand they don't just show up also brothels you don't have to show the guy or I should say the brothel anything you can walk in there with your cash and if you're using a credit card then they want your ID I think the best way is to have classes that these ladies have to go to and health check up classes also and then they get their license they pay their taxes just like masseuses and other sex workers the places that are legal and every 6 months they have to be checked for diseases and every year they have to pay their taxes plus pay an extra fee every three or five years to be able to have a license to work so nobody gets hurt and there's brothels that can you do use it and the independent contractor can use it
Bunny Ranch, Mustang Ranch - I read 3 books. NOTE: THERE are NO Male hookers for gal client. Then, others like them for a 3 way, but still Involves a man. Menage a troi (Zoo of 3).
Now for a joke: Guy seeks divorce / want her gone. Why? Why? My wife is the dirtiest, filthiest, the most obscene hooker in Las Vega, and Reno. She gets a plane staying for 2 weeks and returns, that woman thing. Then gets a flight back to Reno or Vegas.
Goodness, says the lawyers, counsel and Judge. How horrible that your wife is a whore and we'll get this done quickly. We'll expedite this case.
No. No. No. He burst. I'm proud of my wive being the best whore around in NV. Don't you KNOW the laws of Vegas an Reno? No brothels in those cities by ban. She LIED to me and that's the grounds for divorce.
She was a liar; I can't trust her
Noah Vale- Competency seems to be lacking these days in the good old United States; especially in government. Not sure if private businesses would be more competent. Maybe having administrators in the industry get special licensure, psych evaluation, and/or a degree in carnal business administration, lol.

German women are the best and have one of the highest libidos!
Why the hell is this illegal anyway?
One way or another, men always have to pay.
fridgemagnett So true.

+8th wonder of the world
While trying to insult you named a good point for the pro legalisation site.
If sex can be bought freely, the numbers of sex-crime will decline.
MKu MKu that has to be the dumbest thing i have ever read. if someone is willing to break the law and rape why wouldn't they be willing to break the law and buy a prostitute.
8th wonder of the world
Maybe my phrasing was misleading.
My point is:
If bying sexual services becomes legal and considered equal to bying cooking services (e.g. in a restaurant) then there are people who will never reach the point where they rape someone.
WatchMojo.com keep up the awesome work!
please tell me the difference between a guy meeting a girl in a club or bar and finding her sexually attractive even though he knows he will not be marrying her and then buying her things, paying to get her car fixed etc and just simply paying her for sex?
Keep it classy WatchMojo.
Legalize it, require a license to pratice it (which should also include a condition for regular medical exams), tax the income (like any other job), provide unbiased help for those that want out, and finally protection under the law like any other business.
Fact#6 Many prostitutes achieve fame and fortune by becoming pornstars.
Nick Pastorino .
Many? Out of the millions there are... maybe a couple dozen do. That's not many. Most die young. Many are killed.
I broke a mirror and got 7 years bad luck, but my lawyer think he can get me 5.
A broken mirror...7 years bad luck
A broken condom...18 year bad luck

It was funnier when Steven Wright told the joke in the 80's. It's on the album, "I Have a Pony."
teemusid I was a baby in the 80's. And i doubt it was funnier. I'm friggin' hilarious.

That last line! :)
The government doesn't really care about people's safety. Government inspected brothels should have been made legal a long time ago.
fearlessarchangel
Nah, they care about re-election, and legalizing brothels in the US would make re-election kinda difficult in many states.
LOL!
Beena Plumber The Bunny Ranch does that.
Sorry as a tax payer if you want condoms pay for them yourself
@@deajaysteier9532 So you'd rather pay the bill when they end up in the emergency room along with all the others they spread the infection too. You're paying for it one way or another so you might as well take the cheaper option.
@@stevenclark5173 no they should have to lay for their own healthcare to it's not my responsibility to pay for their bad choices
And just to clarify I'm not against prostitution I think it should be fully legal anything that happens between 2 or more consenting adults is no business of the governments
As a libertarian I believe in the doctrine of free will and the non agression pact so as long as it's not harming others it's none of the governments business
shout out to watch mojo for not putting a clickbait photo on a thumbnail that could totally be clickbaited
Illegal to buy but legal to sell... how does it work? Is it a first-initiative thing?
It keeps it illegal but the prostitutes can still get the help they need without fear of arrest
Except of course their customers are afraid of arrest so the prostitute still has to hide from the police for the sake of the customers so its at least as dangerous as ever.
True, but this also means that the "more violent" customers will not harrass them for fear of imprisonment.
Is there really someone who's said no 10 times, but then she grabs their "family jewels" and they change their mind?

...so why don't you go do your research in places where it's legal, like Australia. When it's legal, it's actually very safe - for the ladies and the clients.
70+ prostituted women murdered in Germany since legalization. 50+ attempted murders. Most killers are johns. Sound safe? (Source: sexindustry-kills.de/doku.php?id=prostitutionmurders:de )
I bet the rates are higher elsewhere in any year.
I don't know. You would have to compare those numbers against countries where prostitution isn't legal .
uuuuh, life aint a ponyhof....
My question is. How come you can't get a gf? Are these "john's" lonely af? Social deprived? Most likely.
The last time I was this early, I got the service for free.
+MugenNiFukuzatsuna I agree with that..
Even if you do that (which might be a good idea) there will still be street walkers.
I saw another documentary about prostitutes and it said the prices have actually gone down for basic streetwalkers in the last 40 years.

Legalize it, regulate it, tax it
Totally agree. Make the girls file taxes on their wages. That would cut down on a ton of it.

Legalize it? Yes. Tax it? No. Taxation is theft. Regulate it? No. Market can regulate itself.
Proud to be Swedish. Not perfect no but at least it allows people who are in need of help to get the help they need. Without having to worry about being punished for needing medical attention.
Hmm...where are they on social media? I can't find any.
WatchMojo really didn't bother to do research at all on this topic. If they did they would know that Prostitution is 100% legal and regulated here in Australia and it's a very safe profession. Everyone is happy it.
Allow it
I am honestly surprised that this video doesn't treat people who are opposed to prostitution as evil. It is refreshing.
Legalize It
It's not illegal in Hamilton Ontario Canada. They hook freely and dont get arrested. There is a escort site, it's called Escort Alligator
I think they should just help making it a safer more legal thing by laying down some solid foundation and some actual laws and conditions to be met such as having cleaner places for the thing to happen where it's supervised and all men are forced to wear condoms and the whole thing is made cleaner and less underground cuz like it or not prostitution will never go away as both ends need it
George Carlin: "Selling is Legal. Fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal?"
Thing is it varies from county to county
I saw that Ros Clickbait for Game of Thrones's fans on the thumbnail, WatchMojo!
Legalize it. Then if something happens to the escort they can go to the police with out the fear of self-incrimination
True.

Fact 6 If she's pretty, she's undercover.
I think it should be legalized and taxed, same as non-harmful recreational drugs like LSD, PCP, ecstasy, marijuana, peyote, etc.
PCP? Seriously?
+Rachael Lefler yea but being imprisoned is a normal thing and that it hurts women more is the most dump argument i ever heard
+the doctor also no one can earn money in prison it is not like only prostitutes can't
+Carlos MMV well weed is fine I believe
Now i have the facts i need for a solid history of prostitution argument
New Zealand's model.
Sixteen 'jobs' a day, an average of 2 per hour, doesn't leave a lot of time for clean up. I'm going to have to say no.
Said the comedian, Jenny Young man, "An attractive blonde said to me, for $50, I'll do whatever you want!" Handing her the money, I said, "Paint my house".
Women have something that men want and are willing to pay for.. Any a t between two consenting adults that does not cause harm should be legal.
Fact #1:
It's immoral and God will judge you for it.
I love how someone talks about religion and then uses the word fact in the same comment
+Monster Cat Lmao nice one.
So someone who doesn't exist will judge me?
That's a true fact.
What are you fucking gay?
legalize it, if a man or woman feels okay with selling sex why should some law say that its not okay??
because it's degenerate
so you wanna stimulate young women that need money, go to sell their body instead of helping them to get a job? Nice argument bro

While prostitutes are usually seen as outcastes, in Japan and East Asian cultures they also commonly represent filial piety and stories of girls selling their bodies in order to save their families or parents are actually quite popular
Legalise and regulate.
May I suggest you to add quality subtitles (instead of generated ones) so this video is accessible for Deaf people involved in any way with the prostitution world.
it should be legalised and identification cards should be given to reduce human trafficking
Honestly such acts or so called ''jobs'' strip clubs -pornography- prostitution......etc. Should be banned and stopped , not only it has huge and dangerous negative impacts , but it also ruins the honor and life of those who works in it , but it ruins the life of many people who follows them. These immoral and shameless acts must be stopped and forbidden , for the sake of preserving a woman's private parts and protect her from abuse.
Mr AO31 nigga no they are one who want the job
I'm an escort and I approve this message.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY PROSTITUTION IS ILLEGAL IN MANY WESTERN COUNTRIES BUT MALE GENITAL MUTILATION IS LEGAL?????????????
Someone.....
What about female genital mutilation???? It's legal in some parts of the US.
@@GothGirlKara How do you know most are trafficking victims?
I never personally liked the idea of paid sex (but hey to each their own), but for some reason I think paid "company" is a cool concept, probably because they're already doing it legally. There's a company in Japan that is nothing but attractive, well-educated men whom women can hire just to hang out with them. They converse at cafes and really just look good together while talking. That's it, that's all they do, and they're *astronomically* expensive, making me think those guys must be smooth talkers. It's basically psychotherapy, since it's nothing but hiring someone to be your friend and converse with skill with you for a time.

RE: the Swedish "system": how screwed up is a system where it's legal to sell something, but not legal to buy it?
"Fun" fact, prostitution is perfectly legal in germany and is considerd a fee based service by the law. Also there are special laws to ensure that prostitutes won't be exploited or forced.
Sex work is legal in Canada
here in germany, prostitution is actually legal, as long as they are registered
I had an ex girlfriend who would not leave me alone. She kept asking me for money, a loan. I kept saying no because i knew she would never pay me back.
To get her to finally leave me alone I thought I would say something outrageous.
The next time she asked me for money, I replied "ok, but i want sex for it. She screamed "im not a prostitute!" I countered: "well im not a bank or an ATM!" She hung up.
A few days later, she called me and accepted my offer. Go figure.

Sex robots will end human prostitution.
