can someone please point out what could be King's reason to be called 'brother' by Uea? we all know the English term 'brother' doesn't quite cover it. the usual Thai (or Asian) fixation with age and seniority in form of addresses doesn't apply in this case, right? it must be something else. so what could it be?

So basically, in the Thai language there are several different ways you can call somebody. With your close friends or people of the same age (just like King and Uea) you can call them by their name only.
Then it gets kinda complicated. When talking to somebody you are meeting for the first time or are on the formal basis, you use “khun” instead of their name to address them (it’s like a reapectable “you”, or a bit like “san” in Japanese). It can be seen in the series Manner of Death for example. But usually you don’t stay on those formal basis. For people noticably older you can call them by their title - like boss, auntie, uncle, etc.
But for everybody else you start using the “phi” - “nong” naming system. Think of it as a “senpai” - “kouhai” relationship, but not restricted to school. Basically, you add “phi” in front of the name of people who are older than you (P’King, P’Payu, etc.) and they call you eighter by your name or “nong” interchangibly. You can also adress yourself as “nong” or “phi” instead of using “I” when speaking.
The “Phi” - “Nong” system is technically not sexual in itself. It’s used between collagues at work, between friends and also between actual blood related siblings. But as with everything else, it can be a kink. Just like many people love themselves being referred as “senpai”, it’s the same for King here. They are technically the same age, but being calle “Phi” gives him a certain sense of dominance. He also requested that Uea calls himself “Nong” (I don’t know if you caught that), because it has a cute, innocent image to it and fits perfectly with the cat play.
